Ok so I went on a deep dive of random things after googling anything pertaining to Shino, feel free to fact check anything I say or just tell me your thoughts, here's what I found:

Name

The name Shino means "Stem of Bamboo" in Japanese I googled and there's a very mixed result whether is a girls name or a boys name. I wonder if Boat actually did some name research and came up with something or if it's just a random name he thought was cool. The surname Basca is Romanian? That's what comes up with google, feel free to fact check me. That makes me wonder his ethnical background. This first name is Japanese, his surname Romanian. I couldn't find its meaning but its apparently a Spanish term for nausea. That could mean something? I mentioned this in one of my OG stories that I ended up hating and taking down. In it Kol made the connection that Shino's name would technically mean, "Stem of bamboo nausea" that's odd. Could this "nausea" thing have any relation to his memory issues?

Memory Problem

Ok, so, Shino is suspected to have killed his parents as a young kid, I've heard people say it was when he was 7, 10, 11, 5, 4 you get it, just young. I don't know if they actually said how long ago or how old he was when it happened, but if it was at maybe 7+ he might remember what happened. When Database spoke to Shino about his case, they said he was guilty for murder. The emphasis on Shino's "They found me guilty years ago, so why are they opening this case up again?" He said something like that at the very end of the episode. I think this was meant to hint either that it wasn't actually him, or just part of Shino's resentment to the situation. He seemed hurt when Database talked about it, or he was bored. The way he responded to Database was as if he'd heard it all before. Then in a later episode they mention this so called Ghostwhisper/Ghostwhisperer person. For efficiency I'll just refer to them as GW, k? K. Shino was panicked when the name was said. He kept asking, "why does that ring a bell?" The whole tone changed, I think there was something going on in the background, I can't recall if it was white noise or a heart beat, but one of those I think. Shino seemed very triggered by the mention of the name. After that there was more hints. 

Parents

When Shino got put under Kane's nightmare, there was whispering that got louder and louder. The nightmare put Shino in a panic attack, possibly a sensory overload type situation because of the loud whispering. Then a woman says "Shino, be a dear and kill your father." This is possibly GW. This makes me think GW is either a relative, (ex: aunt, grandmother) Mother, or a enemy of his parents/father. For the mother part, maybe there's something going on, at least there was, something going on between his parents. Maybe a marriage fell apart or just something crazy that would make his mother, want his father dead. Same for the relative. If it was an enemy, maybe his father was a hero and GW, is a villain that got put in jail or something by his father. The hero theory also plays into the fact that Database knew Shino's parents. They could have met at a hero school, or on the job. I do think Shino killed his parents, but not because he had a quirk malfunction or is just plain psycho, but I think that GW messed with his mind, to force him to kill them. If he was charged for murder, they must have had evidence against him. Clearly GW had a mind quirk, mind control/manipulation. Speaking of the psycho thing...

Mental Health/Stability 

Since Shino had to deal with all this court business, losing his parents, interrogation, probably even had tests done to his memory. All while being under the age of adolescents. He has to have some kind of scar from that experience. He never really talks about his past. It could either be because he doesn't remember ANYTHING or, he doesn't want to remember those things. Maybe the way they treated during the case was poor. We have no freaking clue! After all he was kid, all on his own, adults kinda suck. Putting the poor treatment aside, that's a lot of stress of a teenager, let alone a kid that has barely, if even, started middle school. Something tells me that before the nightmares from Ana and Kane, Shino didn't dream. I don't know why, but I think he didn't dream. Just went to sleep, then woke up, as I do. That's just a headcanon-ish statement. Shino seems to have anxiety since he gets panic/anxiety attacks or, it could just be from his heightened senses. Shino never vent's to anyone. If he has, I had no clue about it. I think he's been the most honest to Artemis, or maybe Blake offscreen/before the series starts. Bottling up emotions isn't healthy. I really thought he would have had a mental break down at some point on the series. Shino could have some kind of PTSD from these events. Shino also said he has sensory overloads. PTSD can cause sensory overloads as can any sort of trauma. This is also just a response with an overactive brain. On the topic of his senses...

Heightened Senses: A Blessing, or a Curse?

Personally, I have a heightened sense of hearing. This makes things super annoying, things such as yelling, loud music, not to mention the school bell. Ok, so www.thechildrenscentre.com says "So, what's actually behind hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity? The symptoms occur when sensory stimuli aren't interpreted properly by the brain – and the nervous system as a result. Any information received through the affected senses is heightened or dampened, determining how children respond to it." according to Google. Shino once told Artemis that he doesn't celebrate his birthday because of the noise giving him sensory overloads. This could mean he has it the worst in his ears. Maybe he wasn't born that way, maybe he developed it from whatever GW did to him. Maybe it's a side affect of the "Whisper". On the "blessing" side of things though, having really good senses could be useful to hero work or vigilante work. When Collin invaded the club room, Shino was the only one that heard the soft buzzing noise that Collins device made. Nobody else could hear it, yet it sounded loud enough to Shino to bother him. 

View On Heroes

We all know Shino's stance on the idea of heroes and villains, this could just be the way he interpreted the world, or it could be just another thing that GW altered with his mind. If they really are a villain, maybe they made Shino think this way to sway him to the "dark side" without full on making him evil. 

Age

Ok, so I know the ages at Monarch all all super different and kinda weird, how can a 14 (Rikku) year old, 15 (Artemis) year old, and 16 (Shino) year old, all be freshman at high school ??? Not exactly about Shino, just a weird thing I noticed about Monarch.

Parental Energy

Ok, segwaying to the next topic, Shino's parent-like aura. We all know what I'm talking about. The "mom" energy that I think Boats character all have. Either it's just the way he likes his characters, or it's something he gets from Database, which could hint to the fact that, Database is who raised Shino after his parent incident. This is also bittersweet because maybe he looks after his friends like this because it's what he never had, and he doesn't want his friends, the beans and Jack + Blake, to be like him. This could also be why he was so pissed at Rikku and her gang for getting into vigilante work. 

Vigilante Work

Next topic! Shino has a strong sense of justice as I believe I heard from his wiki page. He could also get that from Database. He seemed to be pretty prominent in the vigilante community, or whatever you wanna call it. In the first episode of his POV, the criminals he fights make a comment about how he has been known for taking down gangs. So he was pretty good at the job. Maybe he did side jobs for people as well, he didn't seem bothered about what's legal and what's not. 

Artemis

Did anyone else feel like their relationship was super random???? That's why I kinda like the ShinoxKol ship more. They seemed to have more chemistry. Artemis and Shino seemed to just happen because Shino was feeling impulsive and Artemis responded well. I do still think the ship is adorable but kinda wish Shino and Kol got together. Anyways enough on how it started. I think that the relationship could die ngl. I could just be being a hater but whatever lol. I don't really have many other thoughts on this though so yea.
