—~Kol POV~— (I've been forgetting to put the POV's, sorry 😭)

The day started out normal. 

Well, as normal as it can when you argue with your roommate in the morning then third wheel all the way to school...

"Why didn't you have anything for breakfast! You know how bad that is more you..."

"Yeah my bad! I was rushing and stuff... Hey! And you're a hypocrite, did you even have breakfast!?"

"Of course... I had a granola bar." 

I don't understand the point of being so corny. Shino's never so soft when we hang out... I haven't even heard him curse yet? I won't ruin the peace. Just stand here awkwardly as they flirt, trying hard not to cringe.

"Anyways, what were you doing up so late last night?" Artemis questions suddenly. I smirk, knowing that Shino was with me. Thankfully, he's content about keeping the vigilante stuff a secret, so at this point I'm just entertained with his lies.

"Oh you know, just grabbing stuff from the deli. I was out a bit because I was playing with the owners cat for a while, sorry," Shino chuckles as the lie slips out. I chuckle as well.

"I was there too." 

Artemis looks at me from the other side of Shino as if he'd forgotten I was here, Shino just gives me a warning look. His eyes light up as he glares at me. 

He's told me to tread lightly around Artemis since he knows a bit about our, 'late night escapades'. Being that he found Shino after we got our asses kicked by Metica... I told that idiot to tell him nothing... Besides him knowing too much, there's been a running joke about me and Shino being together. 

Shino said Artemis had brought it up one time and one time only, but Shino didn't feel like going through the awkward, 'are you cheating on me' talk again. 

I don't even understand where that joke came from... Sure we hang out a once in a blue moon, sure we hang out alone a bit, sure we hang out alone at night a few times, sure we hang out alone at night at my dorm a lot... 

Ok that sounds suspiciously like an arrangement...

"Kol?" 

I turn back to the other two, raised eyebrows, trying not to look at Shino again. 

"You were saying you and Shino were hanging out together?" Artemis says with a giggle, shooting me with a worried smile.

"Oh yeah, I was at the deli before Shino was, I was also playing with the cat. Although I'd rather be playing with Shino.. Y'know, Shino and the cat I mean." I looked away before Artemis could give me a shocked look, although I'd love to see it. Just feigning nonchalance. 

"Well that's too bad, isn't it?" Shino says through gritted teeth, oh shit. I'll get an earful later.

"Too bad indeed." 

We take finally get to class and split. I'm left with Shino for Spanish and Artemis has a health class. For a hero school, we sure do a lot of boring stuff..

—~Shino POV~—

Kol is in for an earful. 

"Just gonna say something perverted and walk away huh? Not very ace behavior of you, asshole." I say, now walking backwards to face Kol.

"Oh wow he does know a few bad words. I would've thought you forgot them in the span of nine hours." Kol smirks and looks at me mischievously. "Besides, who says I ace guy can't make some hilarious jokes about fucking?" Kol's arms now cross behind his head.

"Me. That's who. I've already told you about saying stuff like that. It's weird. Artemis is already a bit suspicious of me leaving at night so often.. I also don't invite you to hang out with us a lot, and you wonder why, so this is all just not looking very good on my part."I roll my eyes.

"Well yes, I do wonder why actually." Kol just blinks and stares at me expectantly.

"Because every time I do, you say shit like that and just be an overall dick?" I glare at him some more, finally walking alongside him again.

"Oh, you wound me oh fierce one," Kol says while putting the back of his hand on his forehead dramatically. 

"You practically choked it out of me."

"Hey, look." Kol says, pausing a few doors away from our Spanish class. "It's just one little joke. I know Artemis isn't that fond of me in the first place, but then I'm sure he knows the way I act. I bet he was just surprised to hear a dirty joke since you coddle him like a mother." Kol rocks an imaginary baby as he says that. "Besides, you and I both know there's nothing going on, right? Just us being the goofy dorks we always are" Kol smirks before slipping a genuine smile. 

"Yeah yeah... you put both the goofy and the dork in that relationship. Just no more stuff like that ok? I really like Artemis and I don't need your antics ruining the one happy part of my life." I roll my eyes again and keep walking.

"They're gonna get stuck like that." Kol pokes the side of my head. "And what do you mean one! I thought I was your best friend." Kol says, holding his heart. Well the wrong side, but close enough.

I move his hand to the correct side and chuckle. "Don't get full of yourself, my best friend in pizza." 

"Fat fuck."

"Shut up." 

I stop Kol before we go through the door, about ten minutes late at this point.

"I'm glad we're cool dude. I'm really shit at showing how much I care about idiots like you." I look over my shoulder before opening the door just to shut it in Kol's face. 

—~Kol POV~—

Rude much...

I enter the class and take a seat. Me and Shino sit in the back so we can mess around and copy each other's homework. 

The Spanish teacher is a grumpy lady most of the time but today she seems cheerful. It was basically a free period after we handed in our homework, mine being half done. Shino didn't even do it. How is he not failing school? 

In fact, he's just been laying with his head down the entire period. Not that he doesn't do that most of the time, it's just strange that he's not talking to me. 

"Shino? You good?" I lift the side of his hair to see a bit of his face from under his folded arms. 

He just hums affirmatively. 

"Are you still mad or something?" I ask, patting his hair back down. I thought we just cleared it up..

"No Kol.. I'm fine.." Shino buries his head further into his arms. 

"Well.. Do you wanna go to the vending machine and get a snack or something..." 

"Not hungry..." 

"That's out of character. Come on, let's just get something." 

I go up to the teacher and tell her Shino insist feeling well and a million other excuses to let us go out at the same time. When she finally says yes, I shake Shino gently. 

"She said yes, come on Shino. You're probably tired because you didn't eat this morning. You're know damn well that you're too frail to be skipping breakfast." This earns a sleepy chuckled from Shino and he sits up. 

"You look awful." 

"Thanks." 

I get him to stand but as he does there's a distant look in his eyes and he holds his temples. 

"Shino?" 

He wobbles on his feet a bit before closing his eyes and passing out right in front of me. 

—~Third Person POV~— (hope I'm not giving you whiplash from all the POV switching)

Kol rushed to Shino's side after he hit the floor. He said Shino's name in a hushed panicked tone, other people in the room that witnessed the crash crowed around. The teacher stayed put. 

When someone finally said he had fainted to the teacher, she just told everyone to get back to their seats and someone take him to the nurse. 

(Ok SIDE TRACKING FOR A QUICK SECOND, Based on the true story 🤓A boy in my class had low iron and he fainted mid lesson but the teacher didn't care. Bro was just passed on, head on the desk. She told someone to wake him up. One girl said he fainted and the teacher finished what she was saying and told her and another boy to pull him to the nurse on her spiny chair. I love my school)

Kol ignored the teacher and anyone offering to help, scooping Shino up. When the teacher tried to hand him a pass, he simply walked away. 

Kol reached the nurse eventually and they evaluated Shino. They determined that his blood sugar was low. Kol decided to call it an old person problem to hide how worried he was. 

It wasn't that bad, he woke up relatively fast. 

—~Shino POV~—

After setting a reminder to eat breakfast every morning for the next 20 years, I text Artemis. 

"hey love🤍 i kind of passed out first period, im in the infirmary now though so its akl good. just letting you know so ypu don't loose your mind looking for my at lunch 🤗 love you😘🥰"

There's a few typos but I honestly think Artemis is used to it. 

I just chill in the hospital room for a while. Venus said that they need to make sure I'm fully functional before they can release me. That's fine since I get to take the rest of the day off. 

Around lunch time, I hear a knock on the door.

"Come in," I say while setting down my phone.

Artemis enters, a worried look on his face and a paper bag in his hands. 

"Shino! You're ok!" Artemis rushes up to me and hugs me tightly. "I got your text but I was still worried. I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner! I tried to go as soon as I heard, but the ELA teacher was being annoying..." Artemis frowns before holding out the paper bag. "I got you your favorite for the cafeteria. I think it's a bit better than pretzels and milk, no?" Artemis giggles as I take the bag. 

"Thanks Artemis. You didn't have to do this. Pretzels and milk would've been just fine silly. Oh how much did you pay for it? Let me pay you back." I place the burrito on the paper bag like a plate and open up CashApp. 

"Don't do that Shino! Instead how about you tell me why you passed out!?" Artemis sat on the edge of the bed and gently took my phone away. 

"Uhm.. well... I kind of had low something-something, basically because I didn't eat breakfast..."

"HA, I told you!" Artemis huffs and flicks my forehead. "Maybe you should listen to me more often?" Artemis crosses his arms and takes my hand gently to take a bite of my burrito as I hold it up. 

"I thought you bought that for me, how dare you!" I chuckle, playfully snatching away the burrito. 

"Hey, I paid for it!"

"You said you didn't want me to pay you back!!!"

"Only kidding Shino..."

—~Kol POV~—

I knock the door of Shino's room before letting myself in. I enter to see him and Artemis laughing over a half eaten burrito. I stand in the doorframe awkwardly before they notice me. 

"Sup Kol." Shino says while wiping a tear from his eye. Him and Artemis seemed to be having fun. Both their faces are slightly red. 

Artemis just looks at me then starts fiddling with the bed sheets.

"Hey. Can we talk? Like... privately?" I say while glancing at Artemis quickly before looking back at Shino.

"I.. I guess? Artemis you ok with that?" Shino says, turning back to Artemis. 

I roll my eyes.

"Yeah I guess.. I'll be back later." Artemis shrugs and awkwardly gets up and we switch places. He goes through the door and I step in. 

Shino sets aside his food and scoots over on the bed. I sit beside him. 

"You ok?" 

"You're not the first one to ask that. Yes, Kol, I'm fine." 

"That scared me you know. I thought you died or something... I know it's stupid... but a million things went through my head when you collapsed..." I sigh and lay my head down on Shino's lap over the sheets. 

"I'm ok. I promise. It's really not that serious Kol." Shino puts his hand on my head. 

"I like the way you say my name.." I close my eyes and focus on how warm his hand is. 

Shino chuckles slightly before ruffling my hair. "Kol, Kol, Kol, Kol, Kol," He says in a sing-song voice. 

I laugh now too. "Yeah, like that."

I'm not quite sure when I fell asleep. But I did. Shino was snoring peacefully, leaning back against the headboard of the hospital bed. I shift slowly, trying to make as little noise as possible as not to wake him up. I move out of the bed. Fixing the thin sheet properly, I cover Shino with the blanket. It's late so probably past visiting hours. Not gonna try to leave. 

I glance over to Shino again. In the few seconds I was off him he's curled into the blanket. I smile before walking closer to him and giving him a gentle kiss on the forehead. 

oh shit.

I like my best friend... who already has a boyfriend...

—~Artemis POV~—

Shino's probably getting freed from the infirmary today so I head there to leave with him. 

Although when I get to his room I wonder if he needed my help at all...

Kol is there. 

He's sleeping in Shino's bed with him, Shino drooling on Kol arm while he sleeps on his back and Shino on his side. They look peaceful. 

I glare before shaking Kol, careful not to shake him so much that Shino shakes as well. 

He groggily opens his eyes and freezes. 

"Get up." I say coldly, practically seething. 

Kol sits up, gently slipping his arm out from under Shino. I grab Kol's other arm and pull him out the room. 

"I don't understand why you insist on trying to pull Shino away from me!" I say in an angry whisper so I don't draw attention to us or wake up Shino.

"Huh? Nobodies trying to take Shino away from you, you're just paranoid." Kol rolls his eyes and yawns.

"Well you sure make it feel like you are! Always so touchy and weird around him! Can't you just leave us alone? I don't even know what Shino sees in you, you're just a... a.." I pause trying to find the right word to conclude my angry rant. "An asshole!" I say at a normal tone, breaking away from my whispers. 

I turn, about to go enter the room again and wake up Shino so we can leave when I hear Kol speak again. 

"It's not my fault he likes me better." 

I don't know what to write to continue this anymore 🫠

This took way too long so I'm just gonna have another part when I get ideas.
