He leaned in slowly, with his eyes closed.

Haneul looked at him agape and she couldn't move for a second as she was busy contemplating Kai's behavioral change.He kept getting closer and when he was about to press his lips, Haneul got back her "contemplating" senses.

"Kai..What are you doing?" She hushed and stood up, leaving Kai embarrassed.

Her heart was beating violently and all she could think about was Taemin. She was flustered by his behavior. Her assumption is starting to get clearer now.

Kai was in his same sitting position but was looking at the ground. He couldn't bear the fact that Haneul has rejected his kiss. "Does that mean that she's not in love with me?" "Is she not interested in me?" Was all he could think that moment.

"I'm leaving this place.." she said and immediately left the place before he could even reply.

She ran and ran in the roads. Her vision started to blur but she never slowed her pace. Her brain was thinking of a trillion reasons.

Kai likes me. He's in love with me.

Her mind screamed in her head and she immediately halted and sat down in the same place.

It's because of you. He'll experience another pain! It's because of you!

She could hear voices echoing in her mind, blaming her. Her eyes started to get teary and she stood up again and started to run, blaming herself in the sunset.

Haneul's POV

I reached my classroom and I saw Kai in his place. I don't know why, but I feel strange now. His presence...near me...I feel strange.I kept my bag near him as we always sit together. I looked at him sideways but he never looked at my direction. He was looking down. I sat on the desk next to him which is my usual place. Neither of us greeted each other and there was an awkward silence. I clearly want to speak to him about yesterday's events. With grit plastered on my face, I looked at his direction.

"Ka-"

"The students are asked to assemble in the Arts room immediately!" Key announced cutting my about-to-begin conversation. And Kai without waiting for a moment, has left the place.

"Good Morning Students, so tomorrow is the D-Day right? So I want to tell you all "Best of Luck!" All the slow dance couples, jazz dancers, musical group..everyone! Do your best tomorrow!" She cheered.

"Thank you Mam!"

"And also...the Seoul Arts school students will be leaving tomorrow.." she said which earned a lot of groans from the students. She has just spoiled the bright and cheerful mood.

I saw Minho gripping Sulli's hands as she sulked at the thought of it. They've grown too close. Minho has fallen for her completely. He's experiencing love with Sulli's innocence. My eyes fell on Kai. I mentally slapped myself because I thought I shouldn't see him. But it just came as an instinct.

I caught him again! I caught him glancing at me again!

When I catch him looking at me, he would always avert his gaze somewhere..but this time, it's not like that! He was staring at me continously even though he is fully aware of the fact that I don't want him to look at me like that.

Just to add fuel to the fire, it was our rehearsal prom performance. I suddenly felt awkward when the thought that we both have to do slow dance.

I hesitantly stood in front of him and I could feel his eyes are fully directed on me. I felt his hand on my palm, a very gentle touch. He gently grabbed it and placed it on his shoulders. I never met his eyes cause I didn't know how to face him.

I quivered a little when I felt his hands on my waist. As the music started, our bodies swayed swiftly. I kept my head down the entire time and I prayed that the teacher didn't notice it.

He is unusually gentle today..

"Lavender is better!!!" Alice shouted.

"Pink is pretty!" Sulli's defended.

"Black is cool" Amber smiled.

"Are you there in this world, Haneul?" she poked my arm. Just then I came down from my imagination world.

"U-Uh.. Y-Yes.."

"Fine, you're wearing blue, myself lavender ,black for Amber, Pink for Sulli...okay..?"

I just nodded. We went out to buy dresses for our prom. Kai was all I could think in my mind.

"I can't imagine you wearing a long prom dress with that spiked hair of yours.." Sulli laughed.

"Key likes me this way and he hates it when I change myself for others.." she replied.

"It's your first prom dress right, Haneul? You like it?" Amber smiled.

"Yes..I love it.."

I know I had the provocative one which Taemin bought for me. But how can I just where it front of the crowd. Maybe only in front of him..

I rested my hands on my cheek and made up my mind to forget about Kai. I want to think of something else but not Kai. He has occupied my mind since yesterday.

I laid down flat on my bed thinking about the scenarios which I recently dreamt of with Taemin. Most of the time, I while away my conscience by creating crazy scenarios like we both walking together with our fingers locked, with my head resting on his shoulders and my hand around his arm as the raindrops drizzle.

His way of gripping my waist and lifting me up to match his height and giving the tightest ever hug with out lips pressed and my hands on his hair messing it up..

I stared at his last text blankly. Wait for me...

"I am..." I mumbled weak.

I don't know when I fell asleep. But I succeeded in not thinking about Kai. Those scenarios flashed like dreams in my mind.

If I could spend time with him at least in dreams, I wish to not wake up.

Next day>>>>>

"WHAT?!!!" Mam, please! You can't do this! Please..Hyeri can take this up..I can't!" I almost fell on her feet.

"Please understand the situation, Haneul. Eunmi fractured her ankle...and you've seen the play more than a hundred times and you know all the dialogues well, You're my only hope, Haneul! Please.." she gripped my shoulders.

For the last half an hour she's been begging me to take up Eunmi's role as Juliet in Kai's play. H-How can I..?

"Mam..B-"

"Please, Haneul..I've worked so much for this play and I don't want it to be a flop show..All my hard work and efforts would go in vain..Please Haneul I would be grateful to you.." she pleaded me.

Yes...Indeed. She has worked day and night for today's program. And to think about the fact that the fruit of her hard work lies in my hand, I shouldn't selfishly think of my own motives..

I just shut my eyes inhaling deeply. It's just a play. I heaved a huge sigh..

"I'll do it for you Mam.." I said. Her sulky face got replaced by a wide grin as she hugged me tightly.

I got ready in an hour and was nervously standing at the backstage. Kai was already telling his lines but was less enthusiastic. I was so nervous and Amber, Sulli were in the first row cheering for me. A-Alice...where is she?

"Romeo! You're forbidden to attend the Capulet's Ball!" Said Benvolio.

"I want to meet my Rosaline at any cause! I'm going there!" Romeo said firmly.

Not listening to Benvolio's words, Romeo comes to the Capulet's ball in disguise.

"Haneul!........... Now!" She signaled me to go. I gulped my saliva.

My very first stage performance..

Author's POV

Haneul took a deep breath and when she was on the stage the spotlight was on her. She could the enormous huge crowd in front of her and that made her palm sweat.

Romeo searches for his infatuation Rosaline but instead falls in love at first sight on seeing Juliet.

Suddenly there was a pin drop silence.

It was Kai's turn to speak but she couldn't hear him speaking.. so she slowly looked at him. He was already looking at her with his mouth agape. He didn't tell anything but simply stared at her with a confused look.

For the crowd, it looked like Romeo was struck by Juliet's beauty and hence became motionless. But in reality he was motionless as to why Haneul is her instead of Eunmi.She stared at him back and signaled him with her eyes to tell his dialogues. Kai recollected his senses and moved front.

"If I profane with my unworthiest hand..This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this:
My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand
To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss..." -Kai.

Just then she remembered something..She has to kiss Kai in this scene cause Romeo and Julie kiss each other on their first meet. Kai leaned towards her lips..once again. She could hear her heart beat rapidly raising with nervousness. She couldn't leave the place like the other time. For a moment she even regretting accepting to take part in the play.

She looked helpless but she managed to grimace. She shut her eyes imaging worst things. Kai leaned in and stopped once he was in front of Haneul's lips. He didn't kiss her but to the crowd it looked like they were kissing and so they loudly cheered for them. She waited for two seconds, 3, 4, 5, 6...She still didn't feel anything on her lips. She was perplexed as she couldn't feel anything on her lips. With her great grit she managed to open her eyes only to find Kai leaning in front of her, too close.

They both made an eye contact. Kai's heart flustered every time he looked at her. He couldn't control his throbbing hormones whenever he sees Haneul.

"You're crossing my mind a little too often and I'm clearly falling for you a little too hard.."

He whispered in her ears and moved back to speak his next dialog leaving Haneul stunned.

Now it was Tybalt and Capulet's scene and so Kai and Haneul have to go to the backstage.

It was only them..only the two of them in the entire backstage. Kai longed to speak to her. He couldn't bear the fact that she didn't speak with him.

He moved in front of her as she was seriously looking down. He knelt down so that their eyes could meet. He gently took her hand. He was silent for a moment.

"I hated to live. I hated everyone. I hated this world. I hated myself for being born. I didn't want to live. I was scared to come out, to meet people, to smile, to make friends..My life was like a dark room..I secretly cried, raged fell into depression. Then I met you..

Colors...

Suddenly it became bright. My life became colorful when I met you. Happiness, smiles, love, joy..I was exposed to these things. Everything was so new to me that I didn't know how to showcase this. My heart aches whenever I don't see you. Just holding your hand like this, makes me forget everything, this world, I forget myself...I forget everything.

Seeing you smile, is enough for me to forget my worries. I acted mean outside but inside, I melt every time I see you..I don't why. When I'm with you, I feel like a better person, less along, less lonely.. Is this love? Am I in love with you?" Kai gripped her hand tighter, confessing his heart out. Haneul stood there frozen as those words still processed in her mind.

"K-Kai...I-I...I-I'm...I-I'm so...sorry. What am I supposed to tell you? You're mistaking friendship for love. You were alone all these years and suddenly when someone came and starts to be close to you, you're mistaking affection for love. I don't how to explain this to you..I d-" she was cut off.

"Please....Please...don't tell anything now..I know your reply but please dont tell it out cause it'll pain more hearing those words come out of your mouth...So please..." His grip on her hand tightened further as his voice cracked.

Haneul's eyes started to get teary. She placed her other hand on his hand and bent down.

"Kai..Don't m-"

"Kai and Haneul!!!! Where are you both?! Your scene is gonna commence now!!!!!!!!" They heard the teacher shouting.

And the next moment they were on stage. Kai tried his best to facade as a happy man. Haneul's heart yelled at the top of its voice telling her to feel guilty.. it was her. She tried her best to put up a show.

And then the prom dance began. Alice, Sulli, Key, Minho, Amber, Jong hyun, Onew everyone were on the stage. The dance was a part of the musical.

Kai never looked at her neither spoke to her. He had a straight face. They danced slowly as the music went on.

"Kai....I'm sorry...I'm already in love with someone.." Haneul felt the need to speak to him eventhough she is aware of the fact that she had broken his heart.

Kai was totally broken hearing her say that. He never knew that she's in love with someone. The little hopes that he had in built got fully shattered to pieces. He felt he was stabbed to death. Once again.. He felt the pain that's a nightmare to him. His eyes slowly started to get teary.

"Kai..." she spoke again but he never replied. Haneul felt bad as her efforts went in vain.

"I shouldn't have come here.."he mumbled. Haneul was surprised that he spoke something but she couldn't hear him properly.

"Kai..did you say something?"

"I should've been there in my old place. I shouldn't have come here. I shouldn't have met you..If it were like that, I wouldn't be experiencing this torture again.." his hand quivered. The music went on.

"Didn't I tell you before that love only brings pain? You told me that I was wrong. I didn't trust you that time, but....." he slowly danced with her and moved back so they aren't visible to the crowd.

"Kai..I didn't mean it th-"

"When I saw you, I couldn't take my eyes off you, when you smiled I couldn't help my heart from racing, when you looked into my eyes, that's all it took for me to fall In love with you. It was you....You selfishly entered my life, made me a mess, made me experience things which I only dreamt of experience, changed my life completely from a dark to a colorful one, made me fall in love with you, suddenly you plan to go away, Just who do you think you are?!!" He bursted out and broke down to tears.

"The people I love...they always leave me. And the pain you get from it...this pain that I'm undergoing now..I was afraid to experience it again and that's why I lived a lonely life..." his voice cracked as his tears rolled down.

"Why did I even meet you? Just because of the happiness that I underwent for the past one month...I should be in pain for years.."

"Kai, p-please d-dont cry...Please.."

He wiped his tears and left the place for his next scene. Haneul sat down near the wing. She couldn't control her tears. She cried her heart out. She hated herself for entering his life. She blamed herself for all the pain that he's experiencing. Guilty feeling gushed in her heart. Suddenly she felt someone hugging her tight.

"Alice..."

"Don't cry, Haneul. Stay strong.." she hugged her again. She hugged her back so tightly that she poured all her tears out.

The climax neared and she should act like she's dead after drinking Friar Laurence who sends a messenger to Romeo to tell him that Juliet is not really dead but will wake up after "2 and 40 hours". The entire country mourns at Juliet's death. The messenger didn't reach Romeo and he thinks that Juliet is dead and kills himself by drinking poison. When Juliet wakes up, she is shocked to see Romeo lying dead and she cries loud and stabs herself to death.

The audience gave them a standing ovation. Their acting was so perfect and most of them cried. The entire crew stood on the stage to tell "Thank You".

Kai stood next to Haneul as they both put on a fake smile for the audience. The crowd cheered especially for Kai and Haneul, so Kai held Haneul's hands.

"I'm sorry Haneul" he whispered in her and before she could ask him for the reason, he pulled her by her hand gently and kissed her in front of the crowd.

Haneul stood frozen. His tears rolled down during their kiss. Haneul couldn't push him or pull herself out from the kiss. The crowd loudly clapped and cheered for them. But she hated it from her heart as she lost her kiss to a person other than Taemin. He pulled back staring at her eyes.

"The minute I leave this stage, I'll go back to my old self. To my old attitude where none can hurt me again, where I won't fall in anyone's trap.." he whispered in her ears and she could clearly see the redness in his eyes.

"Kai-" she was cut off when he placed his index finger on her lips.

"I'm constantly torn between "I don't need anyone" and "Hey, Haneul please fall in love with me"" he smiled.

"But loving you is my favorite mistake" he whispered with the same painful smile playing on his face, his heart shattered to a million pieces.

*sobs* I cried so..*sobs* much while *sobs* writing this. Get braced up as the perverted Taemin is gonna be back. What happens if I add a twist to Kai's part...? Stay tuned to know the twist in the next chap! I'll update it, if I reach 37k! Hahahaha..*goals*
