Library
Things like school always excite me. I'm always filled with joy when school rolls around. I get to learn and write but most of all I get to read! I usually hang out in the library and just read during lunch breaks and in my free time. The library is like a second home to me and I often sleep in the library just because I was stuck in a book. I've always felt so attached to books; they brought me through some rough times.
Oh, I haven't even introduced myself! I am Shima from class 1-A. I'm in a honors student who has a little bit too much free time. I have one friend and her name is Shuzu. We had been friends since third grade and we both go to star high, a elite high school for the arts. We both have wanted to come here since we were in fifth grade. We both dreamed about creating manga together so I'm going to be a novelist and she's going to do animated drawings. With us going for different classes we don't get to talk that much anymore. I thought maybe we could meet somewhere in the school but becoming a manga artist is a very hard job; their classes are two hours longer than mine and get's twice as much homework to do. I feel sorry for her but she was better at drawing than me. I also was better writer than her.
I wish we could still be in intermediate school. Then we could still talk to each other. I remember we were in the library all the time. We had so much fun but we almost never talked. It was actually really weird that we never talked. We always had so much to say though.
"Hey, Shima!" I look around to see who yelled for me.
"Shima!" Oh, it's Lucus. Lucas is from class 1-B and he has a crush on me. He's really annoying and is always hanging around me. He's also from America. He's also a huge weirdo.
"Shima what are you doing?" He asks.
"Reading." I reply without looking up at him.
He turns around and walks behind me. He puts his hands on my shoulders and leans in right next to my face, "Whatcha reading?" He questions with zero curiosity.
"A book called The Secret Garden." I reply still reading.
"Hey, can we walk home together?" He asks for the millionth time.
"No." I say finally looking looking up at him with the most serious face I could make.
"Fine." He says with chuckles following, "Well, I guess I'll go home now. See ya later!"
"Finally." I say as he leaves the library.
I honestly hate his guts but I feel bad for rejecting his confession so I let him believe I like him. (As a friend! Nothing more!)
"Wow, you really are a bookworm." I hear a cruel sounding voice say from somewhere behind me. They more than likely weren't talking to me so I ignored it.
"Shima Rue." I hear the same cruel voice again.
"Who are you?" I turn around instantly spotting the person.
"You have good ears." The student said.
"Who are you?" I say louder and with anger.
"Who am I?" He says coking an eyebrow, "I am your best dreams and your worst nightmares all in one. I am your greatest pleasures and all your fears. I am Yoru Hikari."
"Nice name." I say as I begin to read again.
"I love that book." He says as he suddenly changes tone. "I read it in 8th grade."
"May I ask how old you are?" I ask before even thinking.
"I'm 15." He replies without hesitation and smiles at me.
I blush a little, "So your a second year." I put my book in front of my face to make me seem like I reading but really I'm just hiding my red face.
"Yeah." His tone really has made a one eighty since we started talking. Now that I realize it he's actually pretty cute. He has longer than usual black hair and ocean blue eyes. He also wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt with a band logo on it.
"What class are you in?" I wonder how he knows me.
"Class 2-B." He replies in a cute little brother way.
"Isn't that the honors class?" I say closing my book.
"Y-yeah." Why is he acting all shy now?
"You know you were acting like a bad boy but now you're acting like you're the teacher's pet." I say bluntly.
"I did? I am?" He didn't even notice his change in personality.
"One quick question, can I know how you knew who I was?" I ask half wanting to know and half trying to change a confusing subject for him.
"How should I put this?" He thinks out loud, "I asked the principal if he knew any first years who were shy so he looked at everyone's behavior history in the grade and picked the one who didn't have any bad marks."
"What in the world!?" I say with a dash of anger, "Why would the principle give a student my name!?"
After I said that we just sat in awkward silence. It felt like hours that we just sat there looking at each other. He's tall and has glasses. Wait, how in the world have I not noticed his glasses?
"Did you just put glasses on?" I broke the silence with this really stupid question.
"Uh, yeah." He blushes and turns his head away from me. He's probably hoping I didn't see his read face.
"I like them." I said causing him to look back at me. Man his face sure is red.
"R-really?" He stutters.
"Yeah." I say blushing slightly at the realization that I said so many things so bluntly.
Our conversation went on for hours until they closed the library. We even walked home together. Surprising? I thought that too.
(A/N: If someone could make a cover for this book I would be so happy. Thanks!)
