Selena reread the letter 5 times, she imagined for a moment what it would be like if this was real. How would she get to this school? Where would she get the bizarre items on this list? She looked at the clock realizing it was already 1 am, she darted to the bathroom to brush her teeth, while doing so Selena examined her reflection. Her hair was black and curly and huge, no matter how many times she cut it, it seemed to grow right back over night. Her hair brush usually got stuck and even broke a few times. Her bones jutted sharply, she had always been thin and lanky making clothing fit wrong and baggy. Her sharp bones gave her a stern look, her high arched eyebrows didn't help. She finished brushing her teeth, and took out her contacts with a practiced hand. Looking back into the mirror she saw what had earned her a school career of teasing and isolation, her eyes.    

With her contacts out Selena's strange eyes were revealed showing them turn from a dull grey to a forest green within seconds. She looked away disgusted at their nature of changing colour. Selena quietly headed back to her room to find everything everywhere, the barn owl stood in the center of it all starring up at her.

"Really." She directed an annoyed tone towards the guilty owl, ignoring the mess she collapsed onto her bed and fell asleep in an instant.

A chill crept up her spine, looking around Selena found herself in a small room, within seconds it started to fill up with faceless people. She backed herself against a wall her heart pounding, the people started to talk, giving her a disturbing feeling as they didn't have mouths to talk with. "Freak!" "Monster!" The shouting repeated aggressively getting louder by the second, Selena covered her ears blocking out the sound as best as possible. The sound disappeared as quickly as it came leaving her surrounded by pitch black. "Hello?" Selena called into the darkness taking a few steps forward, the floor fell out from beneath her, a scream escaped her lips as she fell through the floor.

Selena woke up in a tangle of bed sheets on the floor, pain spread through her head as she fell head first . "Ouch... What are you looking at Mister." She scowled at the owl that seemed to have nested in her closet. Selena picked herself off the ground gathering her blankets as gracefully as possible before grabbing what she could from her closet without getting bitten by the now territorial owl. She took her usual 30 minute shower trying to get shampoo throughout the entirety of her hair and likely failing. Selena finished her daily routine by putting in her hazel contacts, she walked to her room quickly before scooping up the odd letters from yesterday and falling onto her bed. She reexamined the letters for the millionth time letting her mind wander to the impossible idea that this wasn't a prank.

"Selena! Breakfast!" Her mothers shrill voice shouted up the stairs breaking her magic filled fantasy. Selena ran down the stairs quickly and shot into her seat knowing that breakfast was rushed and hectic. Selena's mother sat across from Selena shrugging her jacket on and grabbing some toast.

"Hey mum, have you ever heard of Hogwarts?" Selena asked quickly before Josephine could take off, as she was already standing again. Josephine froze her eyes jumping from Selena to Selena's father then back to Selena again, she did something rarely seen in the DeBrax household before, she stopped and sat back down no longer rushing.

"W-what? Never heard of it." She said flustered obviously lying, she looked at Rupert nervously before putting down her breakfast and looking at Selena seriously, her arms folded.

"Yeah you do so know what it is." Selena more demanded than asked them who were now both sitting across from her. They seemed unsure what to say but it didn't take long for Josephine lawyer techniques to kick in. She straightened her posture and hardened her facial features so she was unreadable Rupert attempted to do the same but he wasn't quite as good at it.

"Selena we really don't know what you're talking about and I suggest you grab your guitar so I can take you to your lesson." she skillfully avoided the subject reminding Selena that if she dawdled for to long she would be late. Selena grabbed some toast in defeat and ran to her room to grab music books and guitar. She pushed open her door to find a restless owl hopping and hooting loudly, it jumped higher and snatched the rest of her toast out of her hands.

"Hey that's my food Mister." The owl took no heed to Selena's protests and hopped happily to its nest causing her to see the figure standing near the owl. Selena froze in place her heart hammering unable to make a sound or move, the figure steeped towards her letting her get her better look. The man had long white wispy hair, his beard even longer, he wore half moon glasses and a tall pointy hat that matched the long robes he was wearing.

"Who are you?" Selena asked regaining her senses and backing up against the door, ready to bolt at any moment.

"Albus Dumbledore." He offered a smile slightly easing her nerves, she recognized the name somewhere but couldn't quite remember. "I'm the headmaster of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, I noticed that your owl didn't return. I see he has taken a particular liking to you, Miss. DeBrax."

"Yeah he nested in my closest and everything, wait so this whole Witchcraft thing is real?" Selena's head was spinning and she couldn't tell if she was still asleep or not.

"Selena it's time to go!" Her mother shouted up the stairs once again causing her to jump.

"Just a minute mum." She shouted back leaning out the door. Selena spun back around to find the man was gone without a trace. Selena had a quick thought that maybe she was hallucinating, but quickly shrugged the incident off, she grabbed her guitar and books before darting out the door heading to her weekly lesson.
