She rounded a corner only to come face to face with a twelve foot tall troll with dull grey skin. Frozen with shock Selena couldn't think of a single spell. The dragging sound had come from the huge wooden club it now held in an upright position. In a massive swing the club came down and made contact with Selena before she could dodge. With a thud she flew into the nearby wall, pain spreading through her stomach and back. The troll continued on its path treating Selena like nothing more then a swatted fly. She pulled herself into the nearest room in case the troll came back. She closed the door behind her and found herself in complete darkness. She felt a sticky substance from the back of her head trickle down her neck, soon she found it impossible to keep her eyes open. 

     Selena opened her eyes to a bright white room, she was in an unfamiliar place. Light streamed in through a large window behind her. She sat up in the bed with white sheets and a privacy screen blocking her view from the rest of the room. A woman pulled the screen back startling Selena.

"Finally you're awake. Drink this. Stay here." The woman said handing Selena a glass with a clear liquid in it. Selena drank it obediently and watched the woman disappear into another room. Selenas memory of what had happened came flooding back, the crying girl then the troll. As her memory came back so did the pain, her entire torso ached and a headache reminded her of her head wound. She realized the room must have been the hospital wing at Hogwarts, it had at least ten beds lined along opposite walls. The large doors burst open revealing Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts. Alongside him was Snape and Professor McGonagall, only the latter had a worried expression on her face. 

"What were you doing in the dungeons when the houses were told to go to their common rooms." Snapes stern disapproving voice broke the silence first.   

"I-I didn't know" Selena replied she had a feeling that Snape wouldn't believe the truth. "I wasn't feeling well so I was on my way to the common room when I heard something, so I went to see what it was." She made the lie up quickly, looking down and her hands and bitting her lip. She looked back up to Dumbledore nod and McGonagalls expression softened slightly, Snape however kept his disapproving look. 

"What happened and how exactly did you find yourself in a broom closet? You were only found on pure luck two days after the incident." McGonagall asked next.

"I rounded a corner and this huge... thing was standing there. It had a club and hit me." Selena added lamely, her headache was getting increasingly worse. "It walked away and I wasn't sure if it would come back so I hid."

"That thing was a troll and I would like to know how it found it's way into the schools dungeon. " McGonagall finished fiercely no longer looking at Selena but now at Dumbledor. 

"I think the girl needs her rest, Madam Pomfrey will allow you to leave when she sees fit." Dumbledor said before leaving, the two professors in tow. Madame Pomfrey didn't see fit to let any visitors into the hospital wing or let Selena leave until the next day. 

Selena rushed to the Great Hall, not as quickly as she would have liked due to her torso aching every time she stepped, it was already dinner and she couldn't wait to see her friends again. The hall was louder then usual as everyone seemed preoccupied with something. Leesa spotted Selena first a rushed to greet her with a hug. 

"Owww" Selenas torso reminded her it was still bruised. 

"Oh, sorry. What happened we heard you were in the hospital wing and we weren't allowed to see you!" They walked back to their spot at the Slytherin table where Logan had a worried look in his grey eyes. Selena recapped what had happened to her friends as they finished dinner. 

"Well luckily you got out just in time for the first quidditch match of the season, it us against Gryffindor!" Leesa added as they descended the stairs on their way to the common room. 

"Yeah it'll be my first time seeing a match, hope its good." Selena replied. 

"Wormwood." Logan said to a nearby wall, it slid out of the way allowing them to enter the common room. 

"Wish the Mudblood had been killed by that troll, maybe she would have learnt her lesson, just because she's a know it all doesn't mean she could act the hero." Serena heard Mafloy sneer as she walked closer. "It's not like anyone would miss her, not like she has any friends." His last comment sparked a flame in Serena.

"Shut up Malfoy!" Serena spat at him with a courage she didn't know she had. Everyone else stopped, no one ever called out Malfoy, at least not another Slytherin. It only took him a second to regain his wits.

"Why don't you go and hide in a closet until someone saves you again." He retorted "A filthy Mudblood like shouldn't even be allowed into Slytherin." A few others laughed mostly Malfoys own gang. The insult went over Selena's head she had no idea what a Mudblood was or why they wouldn't be let into Slytherin. Leesa on the other hand was fuming her hand was twitching to grab her wand. Logans own wand was out and pointed between malfoys eyes just as the Slytherin prefect came down from the dormitories. 

"Stop! There will be no fighting here, unless you want Snape to hear about it!" A rather mean boy stood taller then them as he was in his 6th year outranking Malfoy. Logan lowered his wand and spun on his heal stalking towards the large window that peered into the lake. Serena had never seen him so angry even Leesa looked surprised. 

"What was so bad about what Malfoy said?" Selena asked as they approached Logan. 

"Its a derogatory name for a witch or wizard with muggle parents." Logan explained through gritted teeth. We stood in silence for a few moments before Selena could process what that meant Malfoy had said. 

"How did he even know that I have muggle parents?" Selena asked suddenly. The trio shared bewildered looks none of them knew how he could have found out. That night Selena found herself wondering more then ever if she fit in at Slytherin and once again whether her eyes were normal in the wizarding world.
