How I Shift
Before you shift, make sure you're calm, and say affirmations, such as 'I'm going to shift, I can do it' then you have to decide where you're going to go, I have chosen the Men of Letters bunker because I'm familiar with it and I can visualize it easily.
Then what I do is I get into a very comfortable place, because you're body is going to be completely limp and if you're not comfy, then you'll be sore the next day.
I completely relax my body. Now some people say to not let your limbs touch, but I say do it if it's comfortable enough for you to relax every single muscle group in your body. Then I take deep calming breaths and kind of settle into a space where my mind is blank. Now you're gonna feel your heavy limbs and it might be a little hard to breathe, but just relax, this is normal.
However be warned, you're going to want to move, your muscles want to twitch, your eyes will move, but just focus. It's almost like going into a sleeping state, except only your body is asleep.
How to know if it's working:
- your body feels extremely heavy but your soul feels like it can move easily
- your soul and mind separate from your body
- weightlessness
- encountering smells and feelings you know aren't in real life (ie. I smelled pancakes when there weren't any being made at the time I was shifting in real life)
What might happen when you come back to reality.
- headaches
- missing your shifting place
From my experience shifting is mentally taxing, so I usually do it before I go to bed so that when I'm done then I can just go to sleep for the night.
Caution: you might fall asleep
It's frustrating, especially when you can't fully shift, but it takes practice and at the moment I'm okay with just seeing my room in the bunker.
Eventually I'll be able to fully shift and interact with the Winchesters and maybe go on some hunts.
