Chapter 8

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR A 100 READS! THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!

this is the last chapter, partly cause I have writer's block, and partly cause I don't really have the motivation to write anymore. enjoy!

When we arrived at home, it was all quiet. You could hear the crickets chirping, their own little concert. I landed, turned back into a human, and slumped, exhausted. Mom landed softly, slid Eros and all of our things off her back, turned back to human, and motioned for us to pick all of the stuff up from the moist grass. We did as asked, and Mom got her keys from her back jean pocket. She opened the door and walked into the house. She turned on the lights and motioned for me to come in. I loped upstairs with my things and began to unpack. In a couple of hours, we were all like before, and all went to bed. In the morning, We walked outside to the front lawn and I practiced my shifts. That's when the first Hunter arrived. He walked from outside the shadows of the forest and lunged for Eros. I took a running leap, turned into a Lynx, and slammed him to the grass. He got up and began to retreat. I sprinted and pushed him down to the grass, this time pinning him. Sunlight washed over his body, but when it hit a pale white spot on the back of his neck, he writhed, slumped, and dissolved into nothingness. I whirled around, looking for any other attackers. My mom stood, protecting Eros as a fierce Panther, but we saw no others. Perhaps it was a scouting trip. I padded over to her, but then another popped out of nowhere and grabbed my shoulder, reaching for his back pocket. In desperation, I turned into a phoenix. Yeah. I screeched and pinned the new attacker again, and exposed the white spot on his neck, and he dissolved and blew away in the wind. I turned back into a human with wide eyes. My mom looked half impressed, half terrified. I ran back to her and hugged her tight, scared. My mom looked down at me and asked, "how did you do that?" I replied, "I think I know deep inside me that to become a very powerful shifter, you have to believe in yourself, and have confidence that you can do it. I'm not saying to be overconfident and cocky, but you have to have the strength to be able to do that kinda stuff, you can have the knowledge and skill, but you can't become an amazing shifter if you are lacking part of the whole." Mom asked one more question. "How did you defeat those Shades so fast? They have to be in the sun for at least an hour- "there's this little pale spot on their neck, and If you expose it to the sun, they dissolve into nothing. I wouldn't be able to notice it if I had been scared and hasty, but I kind of had this calm feeling that washed over me, so I was able to focus." Now I know, that I, Ellie Jackson, is a full-fledged shapeshifter and ready to kick some hunter butts.
