I sigh out as I watch the cadets jump out of the cart or their horses, wandering out to get ready for their next mission of saving humanity once again. There was heavy tension in the air but everyone looked like they were ready to give their life. No, they are ready to give their life. Everyone was willing to lay their life without any power besides their skills and willpower whereas I was frightened to turn into a titan in fear of never turning back into a human.

"Why are you dawdling in here brat? Does your back still hurt?" Levi looks up at me from the ground as I sat on the cart and I slightly stretch my back, wincing as I feel a large bump on it.

"No. I'm fine." Levi frowns and watches as I jump down from the cart. I look around, frowning at how ready everyone was and then there was me.

I'm fucking useless here.

I always say that I would give my life to them but when the time actually comes... I'm a fucking hypocrite.

I listen to Historia's speech of her final wish to give her all to save humanity and something warm fills my heart. "(y/n), I want you to stay here-"

"-no." Levi glares at me as I turn to face him.

"This is an order-"

"-no."

"Brat-"

"-Levi. I am a guardian for a reason. I swore to myself that I would protect you all if I was given the chance and I will not back down. That is my duty just like Historia's is to become queen." Levi's eyes widen as I brush past him with Historia to get dressed in our scouts uniform in different rooms.

"Let's bring my father down." Historia grabs my hand and I nod at her when we reach the meeting room.

"Let's save humanity." both of us grin and I swear to god I could hear the hype orchestra music playing around us just like in the actual episode. We walk into the room, lining up behind Levi with the other scouts.

"(y/n), do you know how long it will be until the Reiss titan reaches us?" I step forward and nod.

"Just before dawn." Erwin smiles at me, seeing my determination.

"So what is the plan you have for us (y/n)?"

"I'm pretty sure you already know what it is eyebrows." I grin at Erwin and he gives me a quick smile before getting serious. "We are not evacuating the people in Orvud district."

"What do you mean!? All those people are going to die from that titan!" one of the guys walk up to me seething, but Levi blocks him.

"Don't even think about it."

"That titan is an abnormal." I nod to Hanji and let her explain how moving the district citizens inside the walls will make Reiss switch directions and barrel straight into the walls, destroying everything in his path.

"Abnormals focus on large groups of people than a measly few soldiers." Hanji finishes.

"And Eren can't control Reiss as a pure titan."

"But can you!?" the panicked man screeches at me and I freeze.

"We did not have the chance to test that theory since (y/n) needed to rest." Erwin explains.

Wait, can I control him?

"What do I have to lose. If I can, that would save us so much time."

"Brat, you're still weak. Reis pumped out too much of your blood. If you try to use your power, you're going to put yourself through shit." Levi hisses out and I glare at him.

"I need to try."

"Orvud district will act as bait but that does not change our first and foremost duty as soldiers of protecting the people."

"In case we don't manage to stop Reiss, a widespread evacuation drill will be instructed to happen tonight for people to be gathered away from the outer walls."

"They will escape into Wall Sina." Erwin finishes off my sentence and I nod at him.

"It seems that we have no other choice." The panicked man sighs out

"We need to plan further than using your wall-mounted canons. That thing out there is fucking massive even if it's an easy target. You won't be able to stop him with the canons." Erwin frowns but nods.

"Bring out every military artillery that we have. Do not spare any weapons. The scout regiment will throw everything we have at it." Everyone falls into silence, letting the situation dawn on them.

I need to fulfil my duty of protecting them.

I will protect them.

I am the Guardian titan.

I watch as the canons fail to stop the Reiss titan as I expected and I turn to Erwin waiting for my command. "Ready (y/n)?"

"Ready as I'll ever be." he nods. "I have one thing I need to take care of once it's Erens turn to take down the titan." Erwin looks at me, knowing what I meant.

"I'll make sure Levi doesn't follow after you."

"Good." The final rounds of canon fire go off and I nick my wrist, hearing the familiar buzzing. I run off the edge, transforming mid-air and I howl loudly as I reach the ground.

"Brat!" I hear Levi call out to me as I stumble on my feet, still weak from the blood loss. "Shit! Your form is smaller!" I hiss, realising that I was much more smaller than I was supposed to be. The wind picks up and I take in a huge breath, blowing hard against the smoke as the scouts fire more canon rounds. I yowl loudly as the titan reaches up to grab onto the wall, my eyes turning red.

Pure Titan!

I screech out and the titan freezes, turning around to face me. I flinch back from its sawed-off face.

You will listen to me!

Guardian Titan.

I howl in pain, hearing the pure titans voice in my head, almost like it's clawing at my brain. "(Y/n)! What's wrong!?" Hanji screams out for me.

Guardian to the race that is humanity and the protector to Ymir Fritz.

My eyes widen when I hear the sentence in my mind.

Wait, I'm not an enemy?

I wait for a response but the pure titan turns back around to climb the wall. "(y/n)! Stand down. We will proceed to the next phase of the plan!" Erwin calls out, seeing at how I couldn't control the titan and I nod. I let everyone proceed to the next phase and I bolt off in a run, knowing that they don't need me.

My mind races at what the pure titan said but I shake my head, trying to find Kenny. I race towards where I was chained up underground, seeing a small figure walking towards a tree and leaning down against the trunk.

"Kenny." I growl lowly, kneeling down in front of the burned and bruised man as he looks up at me in surprise.

"What-you're that kid Levi was protecting huh." he coughs out and I'm surprised he recognised me. "So you're a titan too huh... Guess everyone has the chance to be all-powerful except for this trash here." I frown and I pick him up gently in my palm. "Oi, what are you doing?"

"Infirmary." I huff out, running back to the walls.

"Why are you saving a murderer?"

"Levi needs family." I grumble out and Kenny scoffs.

"What family. The kid is fine by himself."

"He needs his uncle." Kenny freezes, looking up at me.

"How did you know?" I don't answer him and Kenny groans out. "You really gonna keep this old man in the dark huh? Fine. Why do you care about the runt so much?" I falter in my step and I feel my cheeks burn up. "No fucking way. You have a thing for my nephew. I didn't think anyone would go for that rat." I growl at Kenny, snapping my jaw at him and he raises his hands. "Shit, ok I won't talk smack about him."

"Be his father figure." I huff out and Kenny shakes his head.

"I'm not fit to be a father. Never was, never will."

"Try. Please. Don't kill."

"You want me to stop doing my hobby of killing people? What if I don't?" Kenny looks at me smugly and I look at him blankly. I bend down to pick up a tree, ripping it from the ground and snapping it easily in my fist. I hear Kenny gulp.

"Levi needs you."

"He hates me."

"Duh." Kenny glares at me but nods. "Be there for him. He's been alone for too long." I grumble out, my voice distorting from how much I was speaking.

"You really care about him don't you." I nod, finally reaching the walls. "Fine. If I make it alive-which I highly doubt-I'll stop killing. I'll be an uncle for Levi. But do one thing for me." Kenny looks at me as I set him down on top of the wall as Erwin commands scouts to cuff him. "Look after Levi for me." I slowly nod and watch as Kenny gets taken away to an infirmary just as I asked Erwin.
