PART THREE- An alternate ending to the Clay x Macy x Kai Oneshot.

One and a half years later...

Third Person Narrative

"Ok... love you. See you soon!"

Clay hung up and put the phone down- before picking it up again to check his reflection. He wanted to look great for Aveline.

After all, she deserved nothing less on Valentine's Day.

Macy ambled into the room, running a brush through her hair.

"Hey," she greeted her teammate. "Do I look alright?"

Clay gave her a double thumbs up. "Fantastic. You're going to knock Kai dead."

They both smiled through the memory of their fight one and a half years ago. Both of them knew they shouldn't dwell on it- they'd both apologised and been forgiven several weeks after- but it was hard to forget the angry silences and hostile glares that passed between them in that time.

And, of course, how they had felt about each other.

A slightly awkward silence leaked into the room, somehow speaking of the regret and the desire to forget that the two knights shared.

"Well..." Macy eventually said, checking her watch. "Tell Aveline I said hi."

Clay smiled somewhat sadly and replied, "Tell Kai likewise." 

As Macy smiled, nodded and turned to go, Clay sighed. Sometimes he wished that he had done things differently back then. If he hadn't decided to argue with her...

But they had met new people- well, at least in Clay's case. And he was truly happy with Aveline- as happy as Macy was with Kai.

So he was going to finally let it go.

But he just had to say...

"Macy?"

She turned to face him.

"Happy Valentine's Day."

"...
Happy Valentine's, Clay."
