Too Many Questions (Clay x Macy x Kai)

PART THREE- A Clay x Macy x Kai Crossover Oneshot

Clay's POV

Macy seemed a bit out of it at training. She looked distracted, and missed several times when she tried to hit the simulation monsters. I walked up to her after the session to find out what was going on.

"Hey, Macy, are you ok? You seemed a bit distracted during training."

"What? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Listen, I'm going to go out for a while. With a new friend."

"Ok, who?" I asked. "Nya?"

"Um, no," Macy looked a little flustered now. "Kai. We're going to get some ice creams..."

"Oh," I couldn't explain why, but something stirred in the pit of my stomach. It felt like a snake, silently rising, preparing to strike.

It seemed to want to strike Kai...

"Is that ok?" Macy looked at me, with a pleading look.

No, I thought. But out loud, I said, "Yeah. Sure. That's fine."

Macy smiled a little, said "Thanks, Clay," and left the room.

I stormed out of the Fortrex and sat on the grass. Why did I feel so annoyed? So frustrated? Its not like I was jealous or anything....

Wait. Am I? Jealous?

I put my face in my hands, shutting out the sunlight, and tried to think. I'm probably NOT jealous, I thought. I'm probably just feeling protective. After all, I am Macy's close friend, and I barely know Kai. Yeah, that'll be it.

It might take me a while to convince myself of this...

Kai's POV

I met Macy in the hallway, right by the drawbridge.

"Hey," I smiled at her.

She smiled too. "Hi."

"Ready to go?" I asked, and held out my arm for her take.

"Yeah. It's ok, you don't have to escort me."

"Can I anyway?" I took her hand instead. She flushed and looked uneasy, but didn't pull away.

"What's up?" I looked at her, concerned. "Why so shifty-looking?"

"Oh... I dunno. Let's just go."

"Alright then."

Macy's POV

I didn't know why I was feeling so uneasy. I mean, I was just leaving the Fortrex for a little while to get some ice cream with a friend. I wasn't doing anything wrong...

But Clay's thunderous expression kept coming back to me. When I told him I was heading out with Kai, something dark seemed to fall across his face. He looked so... angry. But why? Like I said, I wasn't doing anything wrong...

The question kept plaguing me as Kai and I walked to the park. It swarmed in my head like a group of angry bees, flying into every corner of my mind, blocking every other thought. I didn't even really register Kai's warm hand, wrapped gently around mine...

Oh. Turns out I registered it after all.

But what had I done to offend Clay? Why was he so annoyed at me going out to the park with a new boy friend?

Wait. Boy. Friend.

Is Clay jealous of Kai? Does Clay like me? Does he think I like Kai?

Do I like him? Kai, I mean.

So many questions and not enough answers...
