December
At last, December had come. Already I could feel the frosty weather coming our way, the cold bit into my fingers like frostbite as I set out to purchase some groceries for Sherlock and I. John had agreed he'd have the night out with Mary so myself and Shelly had the apartment to none other than ourselves.
I tugged at my coat, trying my hardest to keep it wrapped around me and gripped on to my hat as the winds whistled with a large amount of strength. Walking into the supermarket was one of the best feelings that night, simply walking into the warm air that welcomed me made everything seem better. Christmas decor lit up the store, hanging over each shelf was tinsel and fairy lights that made you feel all bubbly and happy inside , big refreshing signs with all new offers pointed at new items that screamed festivity. Christmas was near and soon winter would be less depressing and somehow we would all find the warmth in this coldness like light in darkness.
Returning home that night, with a rather large amount of shopping bags, gave Sherlock a pleasant surprise. I began to unload the shopping bags into the kitchen, briefly taking a moment here and there and examining Sherlock's new case work.. Frost had already began to form across the window ledges and it took me seconds before I reached for the radiator in need of comfort. I crawled along the sofa and scooted next to Sherlock, wrapping my arms around him and nuzzling against his soft cotton jumper. Whilst he solved his puzzles, I lay beside him, in my open hands sat a musty old book which I read with satisfaction. I couldn't be happier. The living room smelt of Sherlock's fresh cologne and his curly hair crept over his smiling eyes as he worked quietly.
