Sorry for the Cliffhanger Thing

-Jinny Toast's PoV-

My hair was a cyan and cut shorter than usual. My friends are the literal greatest, I swear, but I'm never playing truth or dare with any of them again. They connected the dots and realized that my name and profession was the same as officer Jenny from Pokèmon long ago, and apparently been scheming on how to increase the similarities, so we played truth or dare.

Now my hair is a dark cyan, washable, thankfully. And medium length. And spiked with hair gel. I feel a lot like an anime character. It didn't help that I wasn't in my professional attire, and instead, I was in what I call 'hanging out with my friends because the guys I was supposed to come here for bailed, crap' attire (pink tank top with a transition color to blue, purple baggy jeans, sneakers, stuff I'd never wear in front of my colleges unless urgent.) so all my friends called me "officer Jenny on a break" and asked if we should stop for donuts.

Ha, ha...

So we stopped for donuts, which was nice, but while we were in there, I got a call from my brother. "Hold on a moment, it's my brother." I stepped outside with the donut, ignoring their complaints, "Hullo, Johnathan. What did your friend do this time?" I asked before taking a bite.

"He was kidnapped..." I choked on the donut, eyes wide in shock before managing to barely wash down the chunk of saliva covered stereotype cop food. "Look, I need your help. Meet me at that building... The one for the CIA... The secret service I think, I forgot the address. Bring Maloney."

"Johnathan, are you emotionally alright?" I asked, ignoring his recent statement, sure, the hoodlum and I didn't get along, but Johnathan was almost inseparable from him.

He choked a bit as well, "Well... Um... I kinda want a blanket and a stuffed animal and to sob my eyes out and a want to go out there, punch everyone in the face, and cry some more at the exact same time. Just... Get Maloney and meet me at the CIA building."

He hung up, and so I ditched my friends and drove to the Police Station, matching in, "I need to take Maloney." The officer behind the desk paused and stared at me a bit, "I'm Officer Jinny." They still stared, "I dyed my hair today, a dare from my friends, I wasn't expecting to even walk into this building today."

"Right, right. Why are you picking up Maloney?" They asked, curious.

"I need him for a thing we're doing. On the trail of the reason we're here so we can anticipate their next move and prevent or lower the death count remarkably." I lied through my teeth. What could you expect? I can't say family emergency, they didn't grow up where Johnathan did. I swear, at that place 'Family Emergency' is probably a full on hide-in-your-basement emergency.

He allowed me through and I beelined to his dorm room, bursting in and grabbing him. "Hi Maloney. If you don't mind I need to you to come with me-" He screamed. He took one look at me and screamed. After a moment he regained himself.

"Wait, Jinny?"

"Yeah."

"Why is your hair blue...?"

"I was with my friends today, we played truth or dare, let's go." I dragged him out of the building, determined look on my face, and almost shoved him into my car.

"Jinny, what the actual heck is going on?I haven't seen you this stressed since Gavin escaped- Oh my gosh did he do something? Is someone dead who can't do respawns?"

"It's nothing..." I paused, "Ghost was kidnapped though."

"Oh. That sucks for him..." Maloney looked around, "so what do I have to do about it...? The guy kinda hates my guts. A lot."

"Johnathan asked me to bring you to the, I quote CIA office place. Now put on your seatbelt and shut your face." My car sped down the road loudly, nonstop (minus red lights and stop signs, cops gotta set a good example) until we screeched at the doors of the place. I shoved Maloney through the doors and marched over to the man at the front desk. Someone came out of a nearby room. It was that Sherlock guy from the crime scene. Maloney looked flustered, and I didn't blame him. We were both having a bad day when we met the guy, wasn't the best first impression. Anyways, he waves us over.

"Are... We supposed to follow him...?" Maloney whispered, looking like he wanted to run, "I don't trust him."

Jinny groaned, "well he and Johnathan live in the same building so that may account for something." She pressed forward, not waiting for Maloney and following Sherlock into the room.

After a moment of being alone, Maloney trotted silently after.

Toast was in the corner, eyes red, several blankets draped over his shoulders, and a cup of coffee in his hands. His hair and clothes were a mess and he looked mildly traumatized.

"Johnathan, seriously? Aren't you overreacting a bit?" Jinny scolded her brother.

He shook his head a bit, "I personally don't think so." He said in a small voice.

"So. What are we doing here?" She asked, turning around to examine the whole room. in a chair she had flat out ignored sat Mycroft. A tall man with a constant look of disgust on his face, and he appeared to have lost quite a lot of weight since their last meeting. "Ah." She almost hummed, looking back at Toast, "did you ever get to meet this guy?"

"During our childhood?"

"No... No, afterward. You know, when mom had a bit of an issue... and... You know... Got arrested." Maloney exhaled in obvious relief.

"I thought you were going to say dead." He admitted.

Jinny ignored him and looked around, "nice place. What's going on."

"Your brother seems to have made himself a target to Moriarty." Mycroft began. "Moriarty is a mentally advanced murderous psychopath who has made a tad of a title for himself here in England. He intends to see himself crowned."

"Explain in English." Maloney asked, having a hard time keeping up. Must be too much for his bird brain to handle.

"... You being the only American in the room and saying that is not good for your reputation Maloney."

"For the less mentally equipped, I guess I would say Moriarty's a smart psychopath who wants to dethrone the queen of England and take her place... Among other things."

"Oh." Maloney started thinking, "you know where we're from we've got a series murderer who's terrified of birds. He kinda leaves when they show up. Anything this Moriarty guy is afraid of?"

Both Sherlock and Mycroft looked annoyed at Maloney's presence by this point. "Look, you three are only here because of your abilities you've proven in same way." He looked at Jinny, "and you're here because Toast had your number but not Maloney's, and though it would've been simple to find it, It was faster to call you to get Maloney."

"I'm not leaving." She instantly said, crossing her arms and sitting next to Toast. "I don't care what the situation is, I am still this man's sister and I don't intend to leave until I know how to help him stop looking like a homeless person."

Toast leaned down to give her a hug, to which she promptly moved away from.

"Well, first on the table, do either of you have a sliver of an idea where the respawns come from?"

All three of them at once said, "Billy." Jinny looked a little surprised with herself that she even knew that while Maloney being to hum something along the lines of, "I'm back from the dead-"

"Hey, wait, that reminds me, Ami and Maxwell have both been sighted here in England." Toast muttered worried.

"One problem at a time, hobo." Jinny said reassuringly, patting his back.

"Who's Billy?" Sherlock started, Mycroft cutting him off.

"Clearly not a family member from the way they all said his name in unison, obviously nothing to be ashamed of-"

"- But you're forgetting pride, brother, when Maloney stated the name he puffed out his chest slightly as if proud of something. Clearly not a immediate family, yes-"

"But something within the requirements for a relative." Mycroft continued, "I could assume someone Toast knows at least semi-well, someone who they see often-"

"A patron most likely seeing how small their business is. If they truly have a repeating patron, they'd be around them long enough for whatever causing the respawns from Billy to go into affect."

Jinny rolled her eyes, "great now theres two of them. I should've guessed they were related. Oi!" She stopped them both, "Billy is a 21 year old medic who acts likes he's six, sounds like he's six, and was adopted into his family, as was most literally every member. I don't know how he's magic or why, but it's dumb and he's dumb."

"And their house is constantly haunted so... yeah I guess they're a patron..." Toast's mind seemed to be elsewhere.

Sherlock glanced at Maloney, "what's your relation to the family?"

"Uh... I have a cousin-"

"And they were adopted into the family, of course." Sherlock nodded, "so if it's a time thing, both of you have been around him long enough to start coming back from the dead a distance from the source."

"But when will that stop?" Mycroft asked

"Hopefully not soon." Maloney looked a bit worried.

Jinny was beginning to feel out of place in the conversation, so she butted in, "Why are you asking all this?"

"We need to know how the respawns happen so we can prevent Moriarty from finding out."

"Ah, yes, of course, quite logical, but Billy isn't coming here. They changed route. You don't NEED to worry about that anymore." Jinny rolled her eyes.

"How do you know they changed route?" Mycroft asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"They never arrived at the airport they had their flight scheduled on." Jinny shrugged.

"Uh... Jinny? Don't they have other ways to cross the ocean? Like helicopters and storage areas on planes?" Toast asked,  concerned.

Jinny paused.

"Well crap, this might not end well."
