The minutes ticked by as you waited for the bell to ring. Your boyfriend had promised to take you out after work today and you were growing a little impatient waiting for the bell to ring. Leaning against your desk as you read from your book. Your eyes briefly scanned the bored expressions your students wore.
"I know this is boring, but at least pretend we all want to be here."
The students laughed a little at your joke, and you turned the page in your book. It wasn't easy keeping a class full of teenagers interested in what you were teaching. You hadn't noticed the man hovering by the door yet, but your students certainly did.
"Hey, Ms. L/N, there's some stuffy dude here."
You looked up at your students for a moment before turning your attention to door. A small smile graced your lips when you saw who was standing there.
"Mycroft what are you doing here?"
You closed the book, setting it on the desk you had been previously leaning on. The eldest Holmes brother looked down at his pocket watch, resting a hand on his umbrella.
"It appears that I miscalculated the time, I had planned to pick you up, but I'm afraid I've arrived to early." He said.
"Did you get out of work early today?"
He nodded, slipping his pocket watch back into his pocket. The not so silent whispers began, but was, for the most part, ignored by Mycroft and yourself.
"School isn't over for another thirty minutes." You informed him.
"Yes I've noticed."
He looked around the room, raising an eyebrow when he saw the students staring at him curiously.
"Who are you?"
You walked back to your desk, to begin gathering your things as your students began their array of questions.
"Mycroft Holmes."
He glanced over at you, but you simply shrugged as if telling him to just answer them. He looked increasingly more uncomfortable as the curious looks focused solely on him.
"Holmes? Do you know Sherlock Holmes?"
Mycroft sighed at that and you suppressed a small laugh.
"Yes, that brother of mine is a constant worry in my life." Mycroft muttered.
The smile one girl gave you made you suddenly very nervous.
"Are you Ms. L/N's boyfriend?" She practically sung the question.
These children were little demons you were certain of it. Far to curious for their own good.
"Yes he is, and that's enough questions for now." You said sternly.
"How long have you been dating?"
"Are you two serious?"
"Are you going to marry her?"
"How'd you meet?"
"Do you live together?"
One question after another was spewed as the chattering grew louder, and the voices overlapped. There was barely anytime between questions to give a proper answer. Relief washed over you when the bell ringing echoed through the halls. The students abandoned their intense line of questioning in favor of rushing out of the classroom.
"Don't forget about the test tomorrow!" You called after them.
They all groaned in response. You shook your head a little and resumed gathering your things together.
"Inquisitive creatures aren't they?" Mycroft raised an eyebrow.
"Their teenagers Mycroft, not creatures, sometimes I think you're worse than Sherlock. " You laughed.
He looked at you offended for a moment before pulling out his phone. You looked up when you heard him tapping on his phone.
"You're checking on him now aren't you."
"Yes."
A small laugh escaped your lips and you finished packing your bag, and slung it over your shoulder. Mycroft lead you from the building once you were ready, swinging his umbrella a little as he walked beside you.
"I don't know how you do it, I've never been good with them." He mused.
"What children?"
"No humans, especially ones that particular age, to ready to rebel." Mycroft said.
You rolled your eyes a little, nudging him as you gave, him a playful smile.
"Of course the government wouldn't like teenagers." You teased.
"For the last time, I occupy a minor position, I am not in fact the government."
You laughed, moving closer to him as you looped your arm around his.
"Oh please, even John can see that's not true." You countered.
Mycroft sighed a little.
"You're particularly mischievous today aren't you?"
"Yep, but you love it." You winked.
He smiled this time, making your own smile grow.
"Well I simply can't argue with the truth." He chuckled.
