With Great Power Comes Great Destruction.
I was woken up by my alarm clock in my own living quarter, Foss was still asleep on the top bunk bed with Ylestra taking the bottom one, his pincers and end were hanging off the bed completely.
I shut the alarm clock off as I rose from my bed and looked at them still lazing around, of course the three of us have helped the foundation immensely, my research alone was about 30% of the entire work done by the foundation, the Arcane magic I got had developed nicely, I was able to transform anything into anything I wanted now. I could even create a black hole if I so choose, but that would mean the end to me and everyone here.
I looked over at the desk I had gotten six months ago and all the papers on it, the stacks were so high that it was thicker then the Bible and dictionary combined. I simply stared at it as I rubbed my hands together a bit, before I finally decided to approach it. My vision blacked out instantly as I felt a searing pain in my head once again, I heard something behind me as I held my head, I only put my fist up with a flame of Arcane magic towards the direction.
"ugh... Keep the lights lowered..." Ylestra said as he looked at me.
"Oh...sorry." I said quietly as I shook my hand a bit as the flames went out. I then looked back at the desk and started sketching the single thing that the facility staff wouldn't really like.
An Arcane cannon.
My motives with this was to make sure I was safe, I already got pushed out of a window by my colleague as a human, fatal fall.
I wasn't too keen on dying once again. My meeting with death herself was a bit frightening to say the least.
The whole cannons construction wasn't going to be that hard, I could just use some of the substance around myself for the construction of it. It only consisted of glass actually, something that I could easily manufacture with my ability, however it would take me quite some time if I did it with air, not to mention that it would definetly show in the facility after a couple of days. I decided to make it out of myself, Gold was heavier then glass, so I filed off the corners of my coffin and after a couple of days, voala It was finished.
The cannon looked nice and sleek, see through. But It wasn't working properly and I figured that out when I gave it a test fire in subject 733c's room.
The whole room was covered in cameras since subject 733a alongside subject 733b had already merged together, I never saw their fusion form since the new liquid they put inside the tank made it so that she was asleep at all times, thus the cameras if they ever decided to wake up.
I was immediately taken to Ludwig the warden who bashed me before trying to confescate the weapon, however after I told him that I wouldn't be watching guard since I felt like she's gonna wake up and just shread me up on an instant, he decided against confescating the weapon, but he did restrict me of my usage with it. In the end we agreed that I could make whatever I wanted with the weapon but that I couldn't fire the weapon at all inside the facility unless I'm under direct attack by 733c, I of course obliged since 733 somehow made herself a threat to many of the facility staff, nobody even dared to go near her room anymore, the room became desolate. Only I was daring enough to go in and keep watch, just in case the cameras failed The staff team.
The next day...
Today felt a bit different as I woke up, nothingness filling the iron scented air, I could only imagine the blood and gore of other Mon in this forsaken facility. I slowly woke up, thinking that today, maybe If I just acted slow, the demon wouldn't get to me.
It did.
A screeching sound echoed through the hallways as I quickly grabbed my cannon and pointed it at our rooms door.
I slowly opened it, a creeking sound echoing as I felt my heart jump up to my throat, I only heard the sirens in my mind again, blaring out my thoughts and screaming for me to get out of there, as I opened the door I saw two eyes look at me, a red one and a dark blue one, both of them approaching me at a voraciously fast pace, I only managed to see the Jaws of the thing open and clamp down on me, the whole time I was frozen by fear. What was this?
I never felt or have seen such a thing before. Was it... Out there? Am I dead? " I asked myself before slightly opening my eyes as I looked at the brightly lit hallway, one of the light bulbs was flickering.
"Stupid electricians, can't fix a damn light bulb for 3 weeks." I said to myself as I tried to think of something else, as I felt my heartbeat slow down I slowly put the glass cannon inside of my coffin.
"This was it... The test day of the cannon." I mumbled to myself as I looked at the walls of the facility, they were pearly white, I then walked down the corridor and onto the main hallway where most of the workers were.
Nobody.
I looked around puzzled, I only heard the blaring sound again as I looked around at the pipes around myself, our room was the only one connected to the boiler room, as I moved down slightly in the hallway all I heard was.
THUNK
THUNK
I looked backwards, looking at what it possibly was,
I wasn't so sure, but by the massive klanging it didn't seem to be a normal human being, the only ones authorized to come down here besides me Ylestra and Foss, and those two knuckle heads are still inside the room.
It wasn't long that I saw a Luxray at the end of the corridor leading back to our rooms, It showed itself fully, it had some sort of metallic headgear attached to its head, its claws were torn out and replaced by metallic ones, it didn't have eyesockets or anything, just a metallic helmet.
"Attention all staff personnel, subject 275I Has escaped containment, please evacuate the perimeter of site 3 immediately, evacuate the perimeter of site 3 immediately!" the loudspeakers shouted as I looked back at the beast, probably the test subject that breached containment.
" hello little guy, seems like uhh... You killed." I stated as I looked at its claws as blood was running down it and going through the metalic floor.
It didn't say anything even in our pokemon language as It just looked at me and began walking towards me, I went behind one of the pipes, however it seemed to not care about the pipes and just walk onwards towards me like a robot, creeping the the hell out of me as its metallic nails banged against the iron floor once again, the smell of iron from the blood became more concentrated and soon I realised it was heading for me, I began floating away from it as quickly as possible. I knew my way around the place, there were two exists, one that lead back to sector 3 where its containment was, along with the other types since they said an "I" got out, A-H could also be up there waiting for an ambish , I didn't really want to be killed by them, but at the same time, I didn't want to stay here and die. I was about to flee as I remembered Ylestra and Foss still inside the room, what about them?
My gaze shifted towards our room Door, closed since they were self closing the Luxray heading towards me stopped for a second before pointing its head up into the air, moving it slightly up and down before I realised what it was doing. It didn't take long for it to leap at the door and start tearing it down. I wanted to interrupted it, but all I got was a growl from the pokemon before it Tore down the door completely, taking two steps inside before it got flung outside and into one of the boilers, Ylestra coming out straight after it.
"come at me home boy, let's see how tough the streets made me and you!" Ylestra shouted as the Luxray leaped at him only to get caught by a pincer straight into the throat and slammed down into the ground before himself, before Ylestra could even slam his pointy feet into the creature it leaped up and away, making Ylestra smash himself into the iron flooring.
"Don't do that again, you could destroy the flooring and make us all fall to our deaths!" I shouted as Ylestra's top half turned around to face me as he nodded before roaring once more and jolting off towards the Luxray who zapped him with thunder. The blood evaporating on its paws, Ylestra put up a block and barely received any damage.
He then grabbed it by the neck once more but instead of slamming it down into the ground he threw it straight into the wall, a couple of pipes cracked and broke as he made sure the Luxray couldn't get out without falling down into the death pit below us, it wasn't long that I heard the
Klanging once again, two at a time before a small pause in the steps. I smiled as I looked at them.
"wanna take care of one?" Foss asked as I looked at him coming out from our room, he was still rubbing his eyes.
"Sure. Always wanted to test out my cannon on something else other then a practice dummy." I replied as I looked at the two who growled at us while slowly approaching before both of them shot out a Thunderbolt.
"So the rest have escaped as well." Ylestra said as he looked at the exit leading up to the actual facility.
"Well boys, tell me when you finished I have some pokemon to take care of up there!" Ylestra stated as he went up the ladder and towards the exit where I thought the others were. I was correct, almost immediately we heard a couple of attacks being sent at eachother.
I only looked at Foss before I smiled and raised my cannon at the two creatures, both of them looking at us before one of them used thunder on Foss and the other was charging at us with metal claw. It didn't take long for Foss to recover and charge at the one trying to melee us. I only noticed how big his scythes actually became when he blocked, even though he was relatively smaller compared to the Luxray body, his scythe could block both of its paws from the looks of it even if it's paws were side by side.
I flinched as the sparks between the two metallic blades clashed, the claws of the Luxray almost were sliced off from Foss's blade. I quickly looked back at the other one and fired off my cannon, The bolt of electricity coming off of it zapped along the corridor of pipes. Scorching many of them until it hit the Luxray, knocking it out instantly from it trying to stand up but failing and hitting the metal ground with a final klang.
Foss by this time already had the advantage as he tore through the metal and the flesh of the thing, close to killing it.
It didn't take a lot for Foss to have the upper hand, the Luxray pounced on Foss, only for him to block the pounce and push back against the Luxray, making fly through the air for a second, just enough for Foss for its head to be cut off as Foss jumped at its neck with his blades. I only watched in amazement as Foss seemed to be an assasin capable of his worth.
"that was close, how you think Ylestra is doing?" Foss asked as he looked at me with his crimson eyes and Cyan pupils.
"I think he should be fine. But let's go just in case." I replied, putting my cannon back into my coffin and going off with Foss once again. The two of us reaching Ylestra as he knocked out the last of the Luxrays, well, more like throwing them into the wall, some of them were still standing but he pretty much poisoned all of them, as we approached two of them just fell to the ground, unable to continue the fighting at all.
I looked at the corridors as the metals were bent inwards as some of the Luxrays were smashed into them.
"Im finished." Ylestra stated as I looked at his head, blood dripping from it as I realised he was probably hit with one too many hits. I quickly began the first aid as quickly as possible. I knew his skull was thicker then most pokemons. Literally. So I only needed to stop the bleading from becoming a too severe.
"heh, nice hit." I said as I looked at Ylestras wound.
"Hey Ludwig, did we kill any of them?" He asked as he looked at me, I raised an eyebrow thinking only recalling it.
"yes we did." Foss said as he looked at Ylestra. Who looked down at the floor.
"Why are we even helping these researchers? I mean we have the tools to escape this lab."
"And live in constant fear of being hunted for the rest of our lives? The cannon is now operational,If we go out we will DIE!" I shouted as I felt something overcome me that hasn't been with me for a very long time time, anger.
"Chill Ludwig, your slowly becoming more unstable." Foss said as he came over and put one of his scythes onto my coffin carefully, making sure not to cut me. I guess he wanted it to be my shoulder, It of course was my head but I excused it.
"I don't know, I feel insecure, somehow I feel something really bad is approaching." I said as I cupped my face with two of my hands. After which I looked at Ylestra who was still bleeding, I quickly snapped back by slapping my face and trying to get him into a better state. I was easily able to help him since I personally was in charge of the Biology and Chemistry advancements of the facility, first aid was something basic that almost everyone learnt, I also knew how to sow wounds up, but I didn't have the materials and I didn't want to use the nearby security walls to make everything.
"come'on Ylestra... We're getting you outta here." I said as Foss nodded at me.
The three of us began slowly making our way towards the exit, it wasn't long before I felt my vision failing me once again, the white corridors turned black, mist covering it up, my only sence of direction came from the lavender and orange mist flowing towards me on the sides, almost as if it was a snowstorm of darkness, my mind once again began blaring for me to watch out, for what? I have no idea.
"Yl-" I said as I looked to my right, only seeing them parcially, well... More like I didn't see them. Their bodies were there, moving like normal, But parts of their flesh, skin and organs were missing, making me view their visable bone, as if only their skeletons were clear, Ylestra's was easily recognisable from the long, thick spine with thick ribcages on each portion of his body.
Foss almost seemed like he wasn't there at all, he had narrow bones all over his body, barely even supporting his weight, as soon as I was baffled I recalled that he also has an exoskeleton that's connected to his bones, and is able to corrospond to any movement, making his exoskeleton also a part of his bones. The lack of this exoskeleton in my vision and not seeing too many bones and general flesh is what scared me the most. I tried and Touch their skeleton but something stopped my hand.
It was an illusion.
I slowly looked back forwards as something was approaching me once again. Stopping just in the thick and thin borderline of the mist, shrouded completely from it, I only heard the faint whisper of something reminiscent.
"come to me~"
It said as I saw the blue and red eye dissappear back into the mist once more, the lines guiding me disappeared from the side of the corridors, along with the black mist, making me see the white walls once more, and we've finally reached the safety exit. I looked at Ylestra and Foss. Both of them were back to normal as I grasped my head with one of my hands.
"let's just get outside." I said as I took out our key cards and scanned them. We quickly left as we began climbing up the ladder and outside. We were immediately greeted by a few guards surrounding us on all sides.
By which I mean at least a dozen holding shockers, straight to our faces. Ludwig came closer to us, he wore a green suit today with a yellow tie going down his chest, his physical appearance changed, his pumped out chest was no more, he slouched over himself, his tie almost falling out of the green suit he wore, his cane was shacking a little as his legs weren't the same.
"A-Are you alright?" I wrote down on my clipbiard as he slowly grabbed his glasses and looked at my board. The guards however snatched the board away from me and asking him the question.
"n-no... I doubt I'll be able to see the end of this war... I feel my body weaken over the days..." he said as he wanted to continue but I only put a hand on his shoulder as the guards were on edge pulling their weapons closer to myself as I just hugged the old man. He along with most of the others around us were speechless. I held the hug for a few seconds before pulling back away from him.
"Thank you." he said as he waved his guards off, I of course gave him back the cane that he dropped and slowly went back to take back my clipboard.
As I snatched it back I saw the guard holding it smile at me, his grin eye to eye, I didn't fully get it untill I looked at my clipboard.
"Come closer Ludwig~"
I looked back at where the guard was and instead I only saw a marble table, I looked at the clipboard again, the text vanished.
I looked around frantically, everything seemed normal, I looked back at the clipboard and felt the texture of the paper differ from other parts as I trailed along the spot where the now gone message was.
"My minds playing tricks on me again." I said under my breath as I looked at Ludwig.
"Umm, mister Ludwig, may I take a day off my guard position? I feel... Odd" I wrote down onto my clipboard as Ludwig looked at it before looking me in the eye.
"hallucinations?" he asked as I nodded. He just looked at me before he looked away and then back at me.
"Well, we only have about 6 hours before the first launch. So, why not take a peek at that first?" Ludwig asked as I looked at him for a couple of seconds before I went back to my clipboard, hitting it with the head of the marker as I was contemplating what in the world I should be doing.
"I'll go." I wrote down as he smiled at me.
"Ludwig, I will show you the fruits of your labor right here today!" The old man said gleefully as he went back inside the facility as the guards came outside and signaled us that it was safe to go back in.
As we went in, I saw the darkness, only the red lights along the corridors were showing us the way, one of the guards seemed to flick some sort of lever as the sound of the wind turbines began blaring and the lights came back on whilst the emergency lights retracted into the wall.
"All set, the electricity grid wasn't injured it seems. I'll let the engineering team check up on things."
The main officer said as then took his leave. I was left with Foss and Ylestra in the narrow corridor once again. Our breaths could be heard as man were running up and down the corridors, as if they were looking for something.
"Sir,really bad news, test chamber of subject 31ax seems to be breached, We need to take actions immediately before it burns down the whole facility."
"Then do it already! What are you numbskulls waiting for? Go! GO!" Ludwig said as he then looked at me.
"You three should help them out as well, I'm not sure if the pokemon that just escaped is too perfect for our intentions, It could kill, everything here, and if it does were all dead." He said as then motioned us to follow the team.
"So... Does this lifestyle suit you well Ludwig? Trapped in this box facility and working your ass off for free? They only see you as labour dammit!" Ylestra roared as Foss only looked at him.
"Ylestra! Chill before you become the one next to get swarmed down, not to mention Ludwig will be the one to take the blame for your outrage." Foss said as Ylestra seemed to calm down a bit, but I was a bit reluctant to go any farthur into the matter as he growled in frustration.
"come'on guys, if we start now you two can go back to sleep, I still have to look over my other test subject."
"Ludwig...dont...talk. I hate to hear you talk about your work like it's nothing. You know damn well I wanna get out of this place. Actually now that I think about it. YOU'RE the only thing keeping me here!" Ylestra shouted before punching one of the walls.
I manged to restrain him after using curse, of course I was luck to still float after taking a night slash to the face from him. I knew his soul element was now useless against me since it was fighting, useless against me. I almost pulled out my cannon and fired at him once just so he would faint and get brought back to our room, I restrained myself from that though, not just because It would hurt him dramatically, but also because it would also alter the surrounding area quite a lot.
As I got into the room where the supposed threat was I felt dizziness consume me. My whole coffin twirling in place a bit as I held my forehead. I grabbed my key card and pushed it against the electronic pad, and I was expecting the pokemon to be at least a little bit contained and mannored.
Nope.
I was hit with flames insatnly, screams of horror filled the room as it was in compley chaos and mayhem, the pokemon was in the center of the room, It was a haxorus with metalic plates as armor, parts of it even had what seemed like and orange liquid going through tubes on its back, it had two disk like metallic structures near its mouth, it seemed like a nozzle and our of it came the flames all around, this thing obviously was a success from what I know, killing pokemon seemed to be a great ease. Two extra guards came in both of them pyrotechnicians as they aimed flamethrowers at the Haxorus, its plate lit up orange and red, but the pokemon seemed unphazed, It just sat in their flamethrowers as it approached the two, one of them pulled out the other device behind himself, and I recalled the device, It was a prototype of one of my weapons, it was capable of firing off High Voltage and extremely air mitigating electrical strikes, making it one of the most powerful weapons I ever created. And it was fired at the thing, still nothing.
"Sir, were gonna have get near that thing." one of the twenty or so soldiers said as the Haxorus raged on. One of the soldiers ran straight at him, only for the haxorus to grab it by the arm and swing it over himself and slamming it into the ground. Hearing snapping as I flinched and a blood curling scream could be heard as I watched the soldier rool down the stairs as his spine got pulverized by the slam.
"umm, may I engage with my cannons?" I wrote down to one of the soldiers as I set up a barricade, letting him read it so that they may treat the reckless soldier, I only watched the paramedics treat the soldier with what seemed to be pain killers before dragging him away from the fray.
" Ludwig, command says you may engage with your cannon" One of the soldiers said as I grabbed the cannon off my back and aim at the haxorus, he only glanced at me before he lifted the nozzle like blades away from his mouth and began charging up an attack just like I was, when we both released his attack instantly made the room seem like hell with the immense heat, our shots collided as my shot got blown up in the air, letting Arcane particles fly away from his beam as it approached us even more. I quickly moved the barricade in front of myself as his shot blew up on it.
"why is he shrugging off everything?" I wrote down onto my clipboard with my remaining hand and tossed the clipboard into the group of blue armored soldiers, after a few seconds of blocking flames and throws one of the members responded to my question, unlike the previous soldier who wore yellow, this one had a black helmet, probably associated with their ranking.
"This mon also got a heafty upgrade, they made sure he was genetically strong and gave him Tungsten scales for armor, on Top of that they also installed copper wires with heat resistant spunges to make sure Electricity won't effect him!" the soldier shouted back before I looked at the thing, no wonder my cannon or the flamethrowers had no effect, Tungsten is one of the few metals I still couldn't compound.
Tough luck, Tungsten has a melting point of 3422 Fahrenheit, making our flamethrowers useless with its output of only 1000... Anyways, it has a weakness, pure force might be able to Crack the armor since it's isn't really strong against tension.
I grabbed my Arcane cannon and took out the rod that was supposed to charge up the Arcane magic and fire it off, now it was pure Arcane magic that was getting created inside if it, and without the rod, the Arcane magic would collapse on itself and create heavier and heavier elements as It compounded, I had to fire away a shot when It hit Tungsten, after a few seconds of waiting it finally reached it, I still wasn't able to manipulate it, even though I most probably would have wanted to turn it into a bullet, but oh well.
I fired it straight at the haxorus and all I saw was that he stopped spewing forth flames, and it was exactly that instant I rushed in and tried to pin him down with no effect, however another man rushed in with me, taking off his armor and firing some sort of gel into the haxorus, It really wasn't long till the haxorus kneeled to the ground and fell asleep all we heard was his snoring.
The team brought me out of the room as I looked back and saw that they were bringing the haxorus away from the room itself as a repair team rushed in to fix the place.
"Failure..."
