Sergeant Barnes.

"Thank you all very much. You just saved me an hour and a half. I'd like to meet Sergeant Barnes now, could anyone direct me to him?"

"He's right next door. I'll take you." Steve waved for me to follow him. "Just call him Bucky." he told me. "Hey, Buck." Steve knocked on a door a few yards from mine.

A man opened the door to us. His eyes were the first thing I noticed. I didn't have to be an empath to feel the grey sadness in them. And next I noticed his metal arm. When I shook his hand, I felt so misplaced, wayward. "Hello, Bucky. It's nice to meet you. I'm Blue."

"Blue?"

"Yes."

"That's a nice name." he commented, still shaking my hand. I slipped my hand out of his and looked up at him.

"Thank you. Bucky, did Director Fury talk with you about me?"

"Yea, I know you're here to make sure I don't off myself or whatever." he huffed. He felt like he was under scrutiny of sorts and that wasn't what I wanted.

"Not at all." I said sincerely, shaking my head. "I'm only here to help you through any troubles, should you find them. I'm an empath, meaning, if you would allow me, I could touch you and feel whatever you're feeling. I'm here to help you work through feelings, find the root of any of those that are negative."

"What?" he asked, glancing to Steve. I turned to Steve and raised my hands.

"May I?" I asked. Steve was confused but allowed me to put my hands on his cheeks. I looked into his eyes and searched.

I saw Steve as a young man, much smaller than he was in the present. I watched him get knocked into a trash can in an alley. I watched people punch and push and kick him, I winced at the slight pain in my side.

"Steve's need to prove himself is directly proportional to his need to prove things to himself. He needs others to acknowledge his ability so that he can then acknowledge it himself, probably due to his size and the number of times the army, and society in general, rejected him as a young man before he was injected with the super soldier serum." I explained. They both stood with their mouths agape and eyes wide.

"You got all that from touching my face?" Steve asked.

"Yes. And I am terribly sorry for the pain you endured as a young man, Steve." I shook my head.

"Did you-"

"Yes," I nodded, telling him I too felt it. "Thank you, Steve, for... sharing..."

"Sure."

"It's been a pleasure meeting you, Bucky. Should you ever need me for anything, I'm right next door. I have a lot of unpacking to do." I smiled at the two before stepping into my bedroom
