Look...

Albert Einstein is widely credited with coining the popular quote, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." While there's technically no evidence he ever said that, I always found a lot of truth in it. My whole life, I'd craved something big, something great but I never went looking for it. I just lived my quiet life with my family, waiting for an adventure to fall into my lap.

So I sat everyday in my classroom until 3:30, teaching psychiatry to high school students who only took my class because they had an elective to fill and didn't want to take French. On Tuesdays, I stayed after class and graded papers.

Every night, I ate dinner with my friends in the cafeteria and played a game of chess with Charles in his bedroom at 8:00 every evening and I don't know what I expected to change but nothing ever did because I never did.

"Blue," Charles wheeled into my classroom, knocking on the door to get my attention as he rolled through the doorway.

    "Professor," I smiled. "Come in."

"Blue," he began, giving me a playful look. "How are you this evening?"

"Oh, I'm fine. I have a lot of papers to grade, though." I shrugged as he wheeled himself to my desk and took half my stack of papers.

"Allow me." he said softly. I knew he was there to give me The Talk again. "You've got to look, Blue." he always told me. "You just have to look." But not this time.

He just sat there and graded half the papers, took half my burden as he always did.
