Chapter 9

Sophie and Dex got on opposite sides of the arena, and the ref said, "Fight!"

Dex stood still, calculating Sophie's move. Meanwhile, Sophie ran up to him. Dex stayed still, so she tackled him. The only problem was that Dex wasn't in her grip when she tackled him.

Dex had somehow last-minute dodged her tackle and was now at the other side of the arena. She was extremely confused as to how he ended up there in only a matter of seconds. Sophie wanted so bad to beat him—like she did every time—that she lunged at him again. And, once again, she found her grip empty.

Here was the thing about Dex: He didn't believe in violence or getting his hands dirty. He hadn't killed very many people compared to other Black Swan members his age. Dex would always wait for someone else to strike first, and if they hurt him he would retaliate with the same force. In some ways, Sophie liked his tactics. But, his tactics also made it a lot easier for him to get killed, and that made Sophie extremely worried. She didn't want to tell him to go against his beliefs, though. She knew how much that could break a person. She just told him before every assignment to come back. Sophie had no clue what she would do without Dex. She would always need her cinnamon roll BFF.

As Sophie pulled herself out of her thoughts with a smile, she got up off the floor. Dex must've been training a lot with his mom more recently. She usually beat him in 5 or less minutes. Now, she was having trouble just catching him.

Sophie looked in Dex's direction and saw that he was grinning from ear to ear, with his pronounced dimples showing. She couldn't let him get too cocky.

She stalked toward him and got in fighting position. He couldn't escape her this time. Dex got into fighting position too. They stood there for a moment, staring at each other fiercely. Then, Sophie made the first move, obviously.

Sophie kicked his stomach. She expected him to fall to the ground, but he stood his ground. She was going to get a good fight.

Dex then punched her cheek just hard enough where she became disoriented. While she was disoriented he grabbed both her arms and twisted them behind her back to where she was stuck in his grasp. Dex slammed her body on the ground and sat over her back as he pinned her to the floor. Sophie was surprised that he managed to pin her down, but she wasn't giving up so easily.

She somehow managed to do the worm until Dex let go of her. Yes, it was a weird tactic, but it was very effective. She probably looked hilarious to outsiders watching their fight from the bleachers.

When Dex let go of Sophie, she rolled out of the way. Dex collapsed where she had been laying. She immediately got up from the floor and pinned Dex while he was still disoriented.

"What the—" Sophie asked as she found her hands empty, yet again. How could he move so fast? She knew she saw him laying in the floor just a moment ago.

Sophie looked up from her hands and found that Dex was only a few feet from her, and he was on his feet. After Sophie glared at him for a moment, she realized he had his tongue stuck out at her, so she did the only logical thing. She tackled him, and this time she definitely got Dex.

She stuck her tongue out at him as she pinned him down, but her moment of triumph didn't last long. Suddenly, Dex was on top of her. How? Sophie didn't know. One second she was winning, and the next the ref called that Dex had won.

The crazy thing, that was the first time Sophie had ever been beaten in a pit fighting match. Dex had most definitely been training a lot with his mom.

After Dex was announced the winner he couldn't keep the smile off his face. Sophie couldn't either. His happiness was contagious, and Sophie had really enjoyed that fight. Even though she didn't like losing, she now knew that Dex could fend for himself. He definitely didn't need to be protected by her or anyone else.

꧁A/N꧂
Just a short little fight scene because we love Dex. Also, I'm pretty tired from my sports event this morning. I fell asleep on the way back, and I never do that.

Did you guys see the cinnamon roll part I added? 🤣🤣🤣 Dex is definitely a cinnamon roll, though.

I feel like I'm writing a platonic Dophie fanfic right now instead of Sokeefe. We will be getting Sokeefe soon, though.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter even though it was short! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

~ Penguin out ❤️✌🏻
