POV Merida
A week ago our operation went wrong. We were supposed to bring Pitch the justice he needed for hurting everyone. However things went as if a disaster happened.
Which just is the case.
Today is the day that we all never wished that would happen. Instead of a wedding, we're having a funeral. The funeral of our friends, Rapunzel and Flynn. It's funny how police officer's daughter got friends with these well known criminals and I don't regret even one single day.
"Mer?" Hiccup asked and his hand touches mine. I glance at him, he is giving me that concerned look of his with that faint smile. I let out a sigh while pulling my hand away.
"Concentrate on driving Hiccup," I mumbled.
We're headed to Overland's mansion. Jack got out from the hospital yesterday. He had a pierced lung by flying sharp object. He is still recovering but at least he isn't dead.
I'm listening to the radio, the cheerful music feels so ironic. We arrived at the mansion and Hiccup started getting the van ready. At the moment when he opened up the backdoors for the lift I saw Elsa coming out from the door. She was wearing this black dress and pushing Jack forward on a wheelchair.
"I could walk," Jack mumbled.
"No you can't. Doctor said that you can't stress yourself. Besides I'm still thinking that you should stay home with Emma rather than going," Elsa told him as they arrived to the van. I glance at Hiccup.
"There's no way that I wouldn't go to my friends funeral!" Jack roared and tried to stand. He fell right back to the stair and started coughing.
"Stop doing things like that idiot!" Elsa spoke fast and sounded concerned. She crouched down next to him, their eyes met as she cupped his cheek. "I love you Jack and I can't lose you too! I lost my best friend and I wont let you to kill yourself by acting stupid!" Elsa preached him in motherly tone.
"But," Jack stuttered and I saw Elsa brushing her finger over his lips.
"No buts, Jack," Elsa's voice was strict when she showed her finger to Jack. There were some blood stains.
"Okay," Jack sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Uh, umm... I'm just gonna take this and put hit in the van," Hiccup laughed nervously as he went behind Jack's wheelchair. Jack pouted and crossed his arms. Elsa stood up and I saw her holding her stomach.
"So you two are fighting?" I asked from Elsa as the guys were busy.
"Not exactly. He just does those stupid stunts of his. I swear that if he continues like this I'm going to give birth sooner than later," Elsa sighed as she went inside the van.
"Yeah, makes sense," I told to Elsa as I went to sit next to her.
"Do you think that they are together?" Elsa asked from me quietly.
"Of course they are. Nothing can separate Punzie and Flynn anymore," I told her as I took her hand.
The day was bright when we got into the cemetery. I saw Punzie's mother and father, sitting there in front of two coffins. There was one for their daughter and one for their son-in-law that they were never able to have.
Hiccup helped Elsa to push Jack's wheelchair closer to the funeral area. None of us said anything, except stayed quiet. I was just remembering of how I met Punzie and what brought us together.
I glance at Elsa and Jack, both of them wearing these wedding rings and the small bump on Elsa which is now showing quite well from under her dress. Jack's hair might be now brown as well as his hair but we learned that he was actually the actual Snowflake Burglar. We shipped Snowflake Burglar with White Blizzard and Punzie was one of highly appreciated writers on that fanfiction.
It's sad that when our fandom got real and Snowflake Blizzard actually happened, that's when our friends were taken from us.
We all took flowers to their grave. They buried Punzie and Flynn next to each other. They had grown close during the time that they spent together. I saw Elsa bursting into tears and right after Jack managed to stand up. He wrapped his arms around her and Elsa buried her face against his shoulder.
They had died while saving Elsa. I knew that Elsa felt the guilt because of it and Jack, well he felt guilty too because he wasn't faster.
I notice that Hiro is standing under a tree at distance. He is wearing a black suit and has arrived to the funeral. Something in him was a bit off after the explosion that killed Punzie and Flynn. It was like that explosion was a ghost from his past that returned to haunt him.
A sound of thunder split the air all of a sudden and we look up. The sky had gone dark and the rain was pouring down. A funeral worker gave out umbrellas to everyone and now we were holding them to keep us from getting wet. Elsa was already keeping an umbrella over Jack, she had taken her own out when she heard the sound of thunder. It was important that Jack wouldn't get wet or his dye powder would wash off from his hair.
I glance at the dark clouds. It was like the sky was crying with us.
At the reception we all gave our sympathies to Mr and Mrs Corona. They had found their daughter after years and then lost her again. After that we all headed home. We drove Jack and Elsa back at their home first.
Hiccup was driving us to our home.
"What would you do if I would die?" I asked. The words just came out from my mouth. Now we arrived to our yard and we sat in the car. The rain was still ongoing, it had been raining all day.
Hiccup turns the key and the van stopped running. He stares at the wheel for a moment, before looking at me.
"Do you want the straight respond?" Hiccup smiled faintly. His eyes were a sad as I felt.
"Yes," I replied.
"I would die with you. My body might be still functioning but I would die on the inside," Hiccup told me. His words made me feel tears forming. As his arm wrapped around my shoulder, when he pulled me into his embrace, that's when I cried against his chest.
"I don't want to lose you," I whispered while squeezing his black suit's fabric.
"You won't," Hiccup comforted me, gently moving my hair away from my forehead so he could kiss me there.
"B-but," I mumbled. The memory of him trying to be killed filled my mind. The fear of his death had been on my mind ever since our friends died. I just don't want to lose anyone else.
"I didn't die that day and I won't let anything separate us," Hiccup whispered.
"Yeah, well neither did Punzie and Flynn! They're together now! HUH!" I cried while bitter sweet tears are streaming down on my face.
"I miss them too," Hiccup replied and wiped away my tears and lift my chin up. He was also crying when he placed his forehead against mine. Then we just sat there, silent, listening the rain pouring on the van's ceiling.
POV Elsa
"Isn't this super cute?" Anna laughed as she was standing in front of rack. I go to her and she takes out this pink little jumpsuit with chocolate cupcake pattern.
I smile to my sister as I touch her shoulder "It's really beautiful Anna," I told her. "-However we don't know the gender," I grinned.
"What! You are on 20 weeks and you don't know!" Anna gasped.
"We don't want to know," I laughed as I placed my hand over my stomach.
"I'm sure that it's a girl," Anna smiled.
"So is Jack," I chuckled.
"How is he anyway?" Anna whispered.
"He is doing alright. He is fully recovered but he gets kind of down sometimes. He blames himself you know," I sighed as I took a small yellow shirt to look at.
"I'm still having my grief too but he can't dwell in despair that long. You will have a baby, you know. He should be the one picking out these tiny little cutie baby clothes with you," Anna squealed as she ran to look at this little outfit.
"THIS ONE! You need to take it!" Anna was gasping and holding the outfit now.
"You want my child to look like a reindeer?" I raised my eyebrow. It was a furry light brown costume with reindeer theme. Horns and nose and tail.. basically anything that you can attach to reindeers. Lovely.
Anna rolled her eyes, "Yeah! I'm buying this one because I'm her favorite auntie!" Anna hummed and went to cashier.
"Or the one that he or she is afraid on Christmas... Afraid of getting embarrassing clothes as gifts," I laughed a bit. Soon Anna came back while holding the shopping bag.
I was still glancing at the clothes at baby section. Then I noticed something interesting.
"Wait up," I told to Anna as I kept on looking at it. Right between few clothes on discount rack something blue was sticking out. I bit my lower lip as I took it out. It made me smile, a small blue hoodie.
"Look at this," I sighed.
"Umm.. It's blue and a hoodie. What if you get a girl?" Anna muttered as she came next to me.
I shrugged, "Oh well. Girls can use blue too. But.. this kind of reminds me from --."
"Jack," Anna groaned.
"Yes! Wait for a moment, I will buy this one," I cheered as I went to the cashier. This might cheer up Jack. Even though he has been down, the moment when we speak about our child it's like his world lightens up.
Anna drove me back to home after a detour to cemetery. We took some sunflowers to our friends grave. Then she went back to work because Kristoff had been alone for half a day now.
I went inside our mansion while squeezing the shopping bag where the tiny blue hoodie was. A smile spreads on my face. Then I noticed that Jack hadn't come to me when I got back home. It was odd. Usually he rushes to me when I'm back from visiting Anna or Merida.
"Jack?" I called while my heart beats nervously.
Emma had moved to Peter's place couple weeks ago. She wanted to give me and Jack some space because we would have a child.
I heard some noises from living room where I headed. "Jack?" I call again when I slowly open up the door. I notice how Jack startles on the couch, shuts the TV down quickly. He was watching the news.
"Hey honey," Jack's voice cracked and I saw him wiping his face to his hand.
"What were you watching?" I asked while I felt suspicious. Something was off and I went to him. He stands up and faces me.
I'm shocked to see that his eyes were pink and swollen and he was looking like he had been crying.
"I.. I didn't hear you coming back," he whispered while turning his head away. I place my hand on his cheek and I wipe his hair out from his forehead.
"What got you this upset?" I asked and I immediately went to the remote control. He grabbed onto my hand.
"Stop! Let me go Frost!" I shouted at him. It made him startle and his grip loosened. I use the opportunity to get the remote control and put on the news.
I see Jane Porter reading the news.
"Please don't watch that," Jack's voice broke.
There are helicopters, police cars and ambulance. Crying Mayor. I cover my mouth, there's footage of police divers swimming on a river.
"Stop," Jack whispers and tries to go and turn of the television. I push him aside.
"Today is a day of sadness. Mayor's young son, Henry, was taken from his home yesterday evening. This morning his body was found from the river after a call to tip phone. The police might be dealing with a murder and now they are working on to solve the case," Jane Porter spoke to cameras.
My head felt dizzy. Henry? That kid which Jack had to kidnap once and then we let him go to his home. The same little boy who found out who we are and wanted me and Jack to be together. One of those obsessed Snowflake Blizzard shippers. He was so young? He can't be gone?
Then an image of him appears on the screen and again there's some footage of his crying mother.
"No," I whispered and hot tears streamed down on my face. My hand let go of the shopping bag that I was holding. I'm just embracing myself while I cover my mouth with my right hand. I'm just gasping and crying.
Jack didn't say a thing, he just shut me into his arms. I tried to struggle free while shouting things of misbelieve. He was hushing me, telling me to calm down even though he had ended up into crying too. He kept on saying how sorry he is, that he wished that I wouldn't know.
"BUT I NEED TO KNOW!" I cried aloud while my heart ached. I slam my fist against his chest.
"It hurts you," Jack insisted and gently touched my cheek.
"It does! B-but.. this is so unfair," I stuttered while my body was shivering.
"Yeah, it is," Jack said quietly.
"Who would do such a thing?" I whispered.
"A monster," Jack responded while he swayed us from side to side. I closed my eyes.
Jack hummed a tone and my sobs turned into quiet hiccups. Then he started singing, I knew that song well and I squeezed his hoodies fabric while humming along with his singing.
"I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound."
