50. Three Musketeers.
I met an angel in the summer of '04,
On the playground, you were building-
building a sand castle, like home,
As I pushed my brother off the swing.
Like three musketeers we were,
With our paper swords and,
Baseball cap crowns we ruled.
Ruled the city of our dreams.
Your cerulean eyes reflect me,
My big dreams and ambitions.
Ever so high and mighty,
Might crush their weight onto me.
So many summers have passed,
Skies and leaves changed colour,
But we stayed the same, musketeers.
With the warms smiles and hugs.
The laughs, winks and inside jokes
The shivers and queers,
Brushing of hands to holding hands,
We've come a long way home.
The winter of '14; coffees and fireplaces,
Cosy blankets and warm snuggles.
The farm house and swimming pool,
Long walks and late night calls.
We fell in love.
Matching colours and sharing spoons,
Sneaking out and making out.
Leaving marks of love here and there.
E v e r y w h e r e.
Laughter and jingles,
Meeting friends and family,
Salsa dances and tuneless music,
I still remember every intricate detail.
We feel in each other's voids, completely.
Swallowing yet filling the holes.
With silences and screams in '20
Honeymoon phrases end, always.
In the fall of '26, you take my last name.
Say the vows dressed in white.
Like the angel in the summer of '04,
Not a sand castle but build a home.

Today, the 27 September of '66,
I'm watching your wrinkled face,
From outside the glass door,
As you caress my brother's dying face.
Envious of the very man,
Who gave you his last name.
Loved you whole six years,
When I chased my ambitions leaving you behind.
Like three musketeers we were,
But you and him had an untold story.
And, you shall always be my poetry.
