Chapter 35: The Calm
Morning seemed to come too quickly. Bright rays of light shined through the windows of the desolate hotel room. I sat up with a soft yawn and rubbed my eyes gently. I was still lacking some much needed sleep.
Looking around, I noticed Luna's empty bed. It was nearly made and looked like it hadn't even been slept in.
"I wonder where she went." I said aloud.
After a minute of debating if it was worth it to get out of bed, I stood up and walked to the bathroom for a shower. I stripped down and turned the water on blazing hot.
The warm, steamy shower was just what I needed. Not only did it wake me up but it relaxed me as well.
After my shower I threw on my usual clothes and pulled my hair back in a ponytail. As I was brushing my teeth, I heard the hotel door open. I poked my head out the bathroom to see Luna walking in. I finished brushing my teeth before walking back to her.
"What were you up to this morning?" I asked inquisitively.
She shrugged and flopped down on her bed. "Nothing really. I got bored so I went for a walk."
"So you haven't seen Sasuke or Itachi since last night?" I asked her as I sat down next to her.
She shook her head.
"Hmm. I'm a little worried about them." I stated staring at the wall. I didn't really take the time to look at it last night but this hotel room was actually really nice. The walls were a soft pink that was almost white and the furniture was all matching.
"Well there's no use sitting around moping. Let's go explore." Luna suggested with a mischievous smile. She jumped up and yanked me up off the bed. I rolled my eyes but smiled. She's nuts.
We walked outside to see the village was starting to bustle again. I took a moment to pause and look out over the balcony. Morning dew was still fresh in the ground but the birds were already singing and the villagers were going about their business just like a usual day.
I reached my arms up and stretched my sore muscles before following Luna down the damp steps. Surprisingly, I didn't trip and bust my face.
We wandered around the streets of Kohana curiously. They had tons of unique stores. We window shopped for a bit before coming to a quaint, little cafe.
I poked Luna and pointed at the cafe. "Let's get some breakfast."
We stepped in and were greeted by the fragrant aroma of fresh coffee. I walked up to the counter and ordered a blueberry muffin while Luna just got a small coffee. We then sat at a table right by the window.
"Just a small?" I asked, knowing she had a coffee addiction.
"I already had a coffee this morning. This is my second." She responded sipping on it.
"Well no wonder you're in a good mood then." I said chuckling.
I looked out the window to observe the village again. It was now full of life. It seemed like everyone was out today either shopping or just milling around. People stopped and talked to each other when try recognized someone and helped each other out.
What a lovely village, I thought to myself.
"So where do you think Sasuke and Itachi are?" Luna asked, snapping me out of my daydream. I looked at her and noticed she had already finished her coffee in a matter of minutes.
"No idea. Guess we'll just have to wait. I'm sure even if they were arrested, they would find a way to let us know." I said with a shrug.
I stood up, finishing off my muffin.
"Let's get going. We can do a bit more exploring before heading back to the hotel." I said throwing away our trash into the trash can by the door.
Luna nodded and we stepped back out into the streets. Outside one of the stores, I found a map of the Leaf village. Nearby, it showed a small park.
"Let's go to the park. It's a bit too crowded for me here." I said with a grin.
We hurried out of the crowds and to the park. It was even really a park though. Just a couple of swings and a water fountain next to a small river. We each sat down on a swing and went quiet. It was peaceful and quiet. A big difference compared to the busy street we were on. I glanced up the sky.
"It's nice, isn't it?" Luna asked softly.
"What's nice?" I ask turning to look at her. She was staring at the river.
"The village." She stated.
I nodded. "Yeah it is."
Feeling a sudden change in atmosphere, I glance around nervously. Nothing had really changed but I suddenly felt worried. There was a different feel in the air. Like something was coming.
"You feel that?" Luna asked frowning and glancing around as well. I nodded in response. We obviously couldn't see anything wrong but we sensed it.
"I don't like it." I stated simply.
After a couple minutes, I really started to worry. I don't like not being able to know what's wrong. Not to mention we're in a place we aren't use to.
"Maybe we should go back the hotel." I suggested.
Before Luna had time to answer, there was a series of thunderous booms.

CLIFF HANGER.
So what did you guys think? What's happening? What do you think is going on? I like to hear what you guys think.
I'm a horrible person for not updating when I said I would BUT I did take extra time with details and such. For the book about Luna, I plan on writing in much more detail (kind of like this chapter).
Anyway, I was hoping maybe, just maaayybbeee, someone would make me a cover for the new book. Let me know if anyone is interested.
Love ya, kawaii potatoes.
