Chapter 29: Shit
SASUKE'S POINT OF VIEW
I felt torn leaving Echo there. I hated that I had to stop her but if I didn't, she would have convinced me to spare Itachi...something I just could not do.
I laid her resting body against a nearby bush so that she wouldn't be out in the open, available to any danger. I left swiftly and quietly, meeting Karin and Jugo. The redhead was all over me and I grunted in distaste.
"Sasuke~" Karin chimed, always so energetic to see me. I could not have cared less however.
"Karin, you're annoying." I stated. She immediately looked at her feet, in embarrassment.
"I will be completing a mission. I will be going alone. Follow me and I'll kill you. Any questions?" Both shook their heads and so I walked alone, heading out towards where my destiny awaits.
It took me awhile to arrive to a clearing where a single crow was standing. Within a second, black feathers flew up, swirling into the man I had hated since I was eight years old...since he murdered my family and my clan. His blood red eyes pierced my own, my sharingan holding steady.
"Itachi." I growled.
"Sasuke...it has been awhile. Are you stronger now?" His eyes narrowed at me, analyzing me.
"Strong enough to kill you." I hissed. I pulled out my sword and ran electricity through it, smirking in the mean time.
"Die! Itachi Uchiha!" I yelled.
ECHO'S POINT OF VIEW
I was awakened by a stiff shake and immediately jumped slightly.
"I didn't do it!" I yelled. The person who woke me up chuckled slightly before I turned to him and smiled slightly.
"Oh Jugo..." I said in relief.
"Hey Echo...you okay? I just found you laying out here...oh and you gotta little something right...here." He said pointing towards my chin. I had drooled slightly and quickly wiped it up with my arm.
"Oh yeah...wait...Sasuke!" I yelled as I stood completely up. Everything came back now. He couldn't have left already...could he...?
"Jugo...where is Sasuke?" I asked. He looked up, trying to recollect.
"Uhh I'd have to say he left on a mission about two hours ago." My eyes nearly popped out of my head. That was longer than I had anticipated. I thought I was out for only a few minutes but now...I may be too late.
"Shit. I gotta run!" I said as I dashed past Jugo and Karin, following Sasuke's footprints and the broken twigs he left in his wake.
"Sloppy...very sloppy Sasuke." I commented to myself on the trail he left behind.
I sighed softly. I wish he had just listened to me. Now he's going to do something he'll regret.
Just ahead I saw the trees thinning out and knew it was up ahead. I sprinted out into the clearing just in time to see Sasuke standing over Itachi, ready to deal the death blow.
