9. The Talk
After spending three hours in class during the morning and another in the afternoon, you were already ready to head straight home, but to your surprise. You weren't going home alone when Luffy was still waiting for you to get out of school.
"How long were you here?" You asked.
"I had to wait until you were out since I couldn't go back after a while. I did manage to grab us something for dinner if you want some. It's Ramen." He said as he held out a lunch bag towards you.
"Thanks."
You took the lunch bag from him as he wore his arms behind his back.
"So, do you want to talk now after what happened earlier today?" He asked.
You slowly nodded.
You and Luffy decided to head somewhere private, and the cafe was still open for later hours. The "Cookie Cafe" was available, and there were fewer customers inside just for you two to chill and relax.
"Okay. Spill." Luffy said, leaning a bit forward into his seat.
You inhaled. Everything you shared with Luffy since he met Dylan was relatable to the party that happened months ago involving Vanessa.
"...So, he wants to pick a fight with me?" Luffy asked.
"I don't know. He's just not happy to hear that you were messing with his girlfriend." You said.
"I didn't mess around with her. She got with me, but I didn't seem interested in her in the first place." Luffy replied, showing how much he didn't care about that girl or would believe to be the type of person to knock up Vanessa.
"I know. I didn't want you to get involved with this." You said, twiddling your thumbs as he faintly smiled. "He'll get over it."
"Yeah. If he doesn't--to try to mess with you, I wouldn't hesitate to kick his ass." Luffy said, pounding his fist into his palm.
"Luffy, we can't always settle the score with violence." You shook your head to disagree with his motivation.
"You'll never know if he'll do anything wrong. My fist is itching to punch his face, but I won't do it if that's what you want. Not yet, though." he said as you giggled.
"You are something. Is this how you are with your crew?" You asked.
"Yeah! Totally." He said, as his smile went away.
"What's wrong?" You asked.
He looked down as his bangs shadowed his eyes, "It's just...I miss my crew even after being away for so long." He raised his head. "I did learn a lot about your world even if I don't exist or know what we have is something comparable to yours. It's awesome!"
"You wish to go back? I know. I thought about that a lot, whether you want to leave or just..." You looked down as you rested your chin under your palm, looking outside the window. People were walking by the cafe, and Luffy stared in 'awe' at the beauty of the hazel light kissing his skin.
"Why don't you come with me?" Luffy asked as you looked back at him.
"Go where?"
"To my world! I don't see anything hard about that." Luffy chimed.
"How would we get there?" You asked.
He blinked.
"I don't have a clue."
You sighed only to reach over at the boy's head hung low.
"I would love to go but can't since I need to pay for my mom's medical bill." You replied.
"Is she still in the hospital?" Luffy asked.
You nodded.
"Let's go visit her!" He beamed.
"Tomorrow, we can visit. I have to study and do an assignment." You said, smiling up at him.
