PICTURE-24

Some people are born to bring light, to restore the righteousness and to prevail God's will.

Starting from their birth, every event in their life is predestined, leading them to a path where they would transform the humankind with their fearless thoughts and undaunted actions. At a very young age, they would realize the meaning of their existence, setting and striving for the goal, which would later be etched in the walls of history. Surprisingly, they do it all with ease and courage as if they already knew they were here, just for it.

Rarely, such people might come from the same legacy and he's one of them.

The successor and scion of The Dehwaars.

Possessing an aristocratic surname and belonging to a Parsi community, he is a man of mettle and fortitude.

His features truly resemble the Parsi's, 6'3 height, honed face, hazel green eyes and an Aryan physique.

He had his academic background from the premier institutes as MIT where he pursued Structural Engineering then, interned under the renowned engineers. Though he's abroad, he never left his role in his empire.

He returned as a hope and a leap, ready to take the reins of his legacy to the space and beyond.

Presenting the World summits, lunch with the Presidents, discussing with the pioneers of change is his daily routine.

A call from him meant a beautiful creation or a disastrous destruction.

That is Karan Adhvik Dehwaar.

But, she knew him as, "Adhi".

Reaching her dorm, she took out her accessories, unclasped her hair and went to the restroom to have a shower.

There's no memory of their first meet or talk, he's just there in her life since she started recognising or perhaps, maybe from before.

She has seen him when his sister and her went for their play dates, or on picnics or in the pre school or at the dinner table or at the ice cream stall or... everywhere.

He never sweet talked to her or played with her or showed concern towards her yet he's in every phase of her life.

Adhvik is a caring brother, being 7 years older, he used to always accompany them whenever he's free, taught his sister etiquettes, encouraged her interests, helping her to explore.

While Nandana is conscious and shy, given her prestigious family, she's a carefree, unbothered, easy going girl but she always felt at the corner of the mind, Adhvik has their back and this made her mischievous acts easier.

She is not a prankster or an aimless youth who does stupid pranks and call it as fun.

She is one of a kind, who is immersed in her own sphere, studying, playing, exploring, enjoying, eating but when looked down, would show them a hell on Earth.

For instance, when a relative of them commented on Vittal's choice of profession, she mixed some laxatives in her food that Vittal had to treat her. She made sure that woman thanked her cousin.

Most of the times, Nandana is her partner in crime.

Who troubles their family or eachother, wouldn't be spared at all. This is their secret pledge and they are bound to it.

Adhvik is aware of their tit for tats, though he reprimands them with a single word or stern glance, he neither restricted them  nor left them and she understood that a little later.

She just came out of the shower in fresh night clothes, drying her hair with a towel.

Teja never thought about dream boys or have some checklist. She didn't feel that need to look for affection from outsiders. Her life is happy and content.

But, listening her classmate stories and societal issues, she decided certain qualities that she does not favor at all.

1) Not a Heart breaker.

Sorry, the World is made up of good guys. Why would one go for a broken man is beyond her? She doesn't have time or patience to heal him and keep waiting...nah, that's not possible. Rather, she would prefer a happy single life with her parents.

She relates it to Adhvik..hm!

She never paid attention to his private life but she could surely say, he's an orderly man, committed and reserved. She never saw him talk to girls or women closely. He respects women but only them who deserve it.

2) Not a charmer or people pleaser.

Her granny always told her, a friend to all is a friend to none. So, honesty is the best policy is her preference. Good or bad, just say it on the face man, why do you want to please everyone?

An involuntary chuckle left her thinking about Adhvik.

Well, he's brutally honest in this department. His values and ethics are as strong as an RCC, intact and resilient.

Tying her hair in a loose ponytail, she goes to the dorm eatery to have a light dinner.

3) Not a pet

Thanks to the wonderful nature, there are excellent pets around, then why do people become someone's pet? Some families control their own children, their partners and their child's child. What is it? A police station? One should have individuality and courage to have their own choices and not be a parrot.

Adhvik and pet? Bruh! He economise Nations, his one decision changes a generation. He's no less than a creator.

4) Not good looks

There's the old saying, do not judge a book by it's cover.

Old or new, looks never mattered but the shine on the face and a positive aura does. Her father once told her, your thoughts reflect on your face.

If you are clean hearted, there shall be a glow on your face and a happy aura that shines brighter as the stars. If you are crooked, even the moon cannot erase your ugliness.

Fondness spilled through her, she remembers how his mother would gush saying, "My son has a heart of soldier and a vision of a king"

Composed and collected is his synonym. If she imagine herself as a stranger and look at him, his eyes show empathy betraying the calm yet powerful aura, his muscled physique emits.

He strives on behalf of the poor to provide them a better living. To bring the needs affordable. An industrialist in the truest sense.

Ok, but doesn't he have flaws? Or is he the only person without all her undesired qualities?

Ofcourse, no!

He does but she believes the greater good overshadows everything.

She flops on the bed, covering herself with a blanket.

So, what then?

Wait, why's she even thinking all of this? Why this headache for her?

But, when she closed her eyes, his admission on her birthday, and their after talk, the events of last night and an hour back played before her.

What is stopping her from pulling the quilt to her eyes and go to her wonderland is his honesty and sincerity.

Not just with her, whatever he does, he does it with integrity.

After the day before yesterday night, she clearly understood he has no second thoughts and from today, she concluded he is hopelessly fixed.

What should she do?

Again back to square one.

Just then a message pops on her screen, she reads the sender as Adhvik.

Have dinner!

Her eyebrows raise at his reminder or specifically at his care. Staring at it for 5 mins she replied back,

I did. You?

Putting the phone on her chin, she waited for his response. She thought about nothing, just waited as another sound dinged.

Yes. Ma called me just now.

Reading it, she understood he wanted to prolong the conversation.

Didn't she ask about me?

She waited again this time looking at the earlier messages.

Aisa ho sakta hein?

Her lips curved out in a gentle smile and a chuckle left her. It is not a sarcastic comment but his straight answer, she could hear it in his voice but it seemed funny. Well, not bad.

Just then a thunder struck her and her smile turned into a anxious frown.

Don't tell me you said anything to her about today.

This time she put her right hand nails into her mouth to bite them. It's her nervous habit. If at all his reply is positive, she would never even consider him. Straight rejection is what he would get. Nandana knowing it is enough not her mother also. Putting her nervous self to rest, he replied.

No but why would I do anything you aren't comfortable with?

His simple and truthful answer made her see him in a new light. Her smile returned just like as in the evening. This single sentence showed his promise of giving value to her feelings and respecting her emotions.

She didn't reply to it. She couldn't as another message popped in.

I'm leaving for Delhi tomorrow. Ben will bring you both in the evening.

Hm.

Have a good sleep.

She stares at the message before replying , "You too" and switching off her phone.

Keeping it aside, she laid on a side, closing her eyes welcoming a tired sleep. She is physically and mentally exhausted yet there's a calmness.

How it is to be like her man?

_

Nandana met her during the classes but she didn't probe her regarding the earlier day. She surely examined whether she's ok or not and that's all. She let her face her battles alone providing her silent support.

After their sessions, Ben took them to the airfield.

The first thing which came into their vision was a princely plane, erect in its position, his Rolls Royce with a few guards in their suits and micro phones and then there he was, standing at a distant with both his palms in the pockets, his aviator gaze across the field looking as mighty as the plane could be.

As they stepped out, Nandana jogged to her brother, hugging him from aside earning a small smile from him.

He kissed her hair before taking off his aviators to look at her, she strolled leisurely taking in the view.

She wasn't nervous or excited, it is more like a calm and friendly meet.

Adhvik stared, she's in a printed blue top and skirt with a dark pink stole wrapped closely around her neck. Her hair is plaited as usually and big pink earrings and bracelets matched her outfit perfectly.

More than anything, her pleasant face, calm peacock eyes and the black bindi relaxed him even more.

He just looked at her, yet she understood his greetings. She replied with a sparkle eyes.

With his sister and her standing before, he felt good, now he could leave peacefully to Delhi.

"Thode din aur ruk sakthe the aap?", Nandu whined not wanting her brother to leave. It was a memorable vacation for her.

Adhvik smiled, "A few more days you will be back for winter holidays."

His consolation made her sigh.

"I will miss you Bhai", she hugged again, her voice because gloomy.

Adhvik warmly reciprocated.

"Be kind. Eat well. Study hard", Adhvik gave his instructions to them. Though he's talking to his sister, those are for both of them because at last he would always peek at her for her obedient nod.

This time too he peered at her, but what she didn't expect was him to come and stand before her.

Amusement flew through her eyes and she tried really hard to not smile. This is all cinematic and comical to her.

His gaze chuckled at her expression.

"Your safety has always been my responsibility whether you know it or not."

Though his voice is soft, there's an affirmation in it. An unspoken truth.

"Do inform Ben before you go out."

He completed his single line, locking her eyes with his.

Teja hummed gently.

A second later, he called Ben to take them back. He watched till they settled in the car and it moved out of the field, when it is about to take a turn, Teja glanced at the side mirror to see his gaze on them. She just nodded and he sensed and replied to it with a faint curl of lips.

His plane took off as he saw the valley through the window panes rewinding what she said days back in the phone call,

"My father is enough!"
