❛ battle of the babysitters ❜

"COME ON, GUYS," Jenny says running out of the police station.

"Lola, are you okay? Was it scary? Did they hurt you?" Jenny asks that's something considering she hated Lola when they first saw each other.

"No, I'm totally fine," Lola replies breathlessly.

"Fine? You just got arrested," Jenny yells.

"It's fine, Jenny. Relax. It's not a big deal."

"This has gone way beyond sneaking out to a concert. You guys, I'm sorry but we have to call your parents."

"No!" we all protest.

"You're just gonna give up, just like that?" Lola argues.

"It's called being responsible. You should try it sometime," Jenny fights back.

"And you should try loosening up. Be in the moment," Lola advises. They just kept bickering and bickering. I turn around to see A.J. fighting the pawn shop guy. She did that cool Jailer Swift move, I knew she could do it!

"It worked! Hey, hey!" A.J. yells trying to get everyone's attention.

"Go A.J., Go!" I yell at her.

She was getting chased by the pawn shop guy, Tiny, I think was his name. So I chase after him trying to protect her from those guys. I was behind the pawn shop guy. Of course, A.J. was much faster than me so I had to bring my cheer game on. As I run and run, then I did a round off back handspring backflip double twist.

I slowly started catching up to A.J., I look back and saw the other pawn shop guy not too far from us, he was riding a bike. I kept running while A.J. kept skating through the crowd. I saw a bike rack right in front of us hoping that would make the guy go flying but nope. I kept running, my legs are gonna be really sore after tonight. I saw a bunch of picnic tables and I was lagging behind from A.J., while the pawn shop guy closer to me. I thought the only way I could stop him was with this move I've been trying to land for months now. I've only been able to do it twice so I'm really hoping it doesn't fail me today.

I did a round off whip (x3) back handspring back layout kick full twist and landed! I landed right before the bike could get to the picnic tables, the pawn shop guy saw me and the bike immediately braked, the pawn shop guy went flying. Ouch! That must've hurt, like really badly... "A.J., Hanna, are you guys okay? Please tell me you're okay" Jenny frantically asks, everybody started crowding around us asking if we're okay and everything.

"Everything's good. No scratches. Awesome," Jenny sighs to herself.

"Okay, guys, not okay," Jenny adds.

"Not okay. Not good," everyone yell.

"This way. Come here. Let's go!" Lola yells leading the way running while she was at it. My legs felt dead after that.

We enter what seems to be a club, I hear the loud music throughout the place, the music was fire! "Hurry before they catch up," Jenny says.

"Is my camera okay?" Lola asks worriedly.

"Really? You're worried about your stupid camera right now?" Jenny scoffs.

"It's not stupid. I won this camera in my first photography contest. This camera is proof I have talent," Lola says defensively.

"Whatever. Come on. Let's just go before they come back, all right?" Jenny says carelessly. She opens the curtains and as I look out I saw a bunch of people dancing, I was also in amazement.

I mean it is my first night out in the city without my parents escorting. As we all walk out Jenny must have tripped on a rope because the music stopped which caused everyone to look at us. I was kind of scared what they were gonna do, so I grab onto the person beside me and of course, it was Trey's. Why every time? I mean I'm not gonna lie I like having his hand in mine- Wait, what am I saying? I can't like this guy, I can't do that to Emily.

Jenny turns around and looks at us with a terrified look on her face, "Yo!" the DJ yells.

"Sorry. Wrong place. Bye," Jenny apologizes, as we turn back the DJ yells at us.

"Oh, no, no, no. Stop in your tracks. 'Cause we ain't goin' nowhere till we get the facts."

"Excuse me?" Jenny says terrified and confused.

"You heard me. Step on my stage, you gotta spill your rages," the DJ explains.

"My rage? No, we're fine. There's nothing to rage about. Come on, kids. Let's go," Jenny says, only to be stopped by the DJ.

"Uh-uh-uh. Y'all know how we do."

"Yeah," the audience cheer.

"It's double true. 'Cause if it's your first time..."

"You gotta rhyme," the audience yell finishing the DJ's sentence. The DJ handed Jenny the mic, she turned to us and asked.

"What?"

"Rap, Jenny. They want you to rap," Lola informs her.

"See, I can't rap. I'm a babysitter," Jenny explains.

"Just say something," Trey says.

"Anything," I add.

"Just go. Be creative," Lola pushes Jenny trying to encourage.

"Huh. Hello. My name is Jenny Parker," the DJ start mixing his set table.

"And these kids are my... Crew?" she says as she looked back at us not knowing what to do next.

"We're in a lot of trouble... And I'm not sure what to do," Bobby, Katy, and A.J. pushed her towards the crowd.

"See, it all started when our phones mad a switch," Jenny rap to the music "Lola lied to the parents. She's been a real... Witch."

"Ooh!" the crowd join in.

"Kid snuck out, the kitchen caught fire. The car got towed just because she's a liar."

"Now these bad guys are chasing us," Bobby says bringing the microphone to him.

"We almost just died," Katy add.

"I got a tattoo" Emily goes along the beat.

"Can you let that one slide?" Lola joins as she grabs the mic and pushes it back to Jenny, earning the mic to squeak.

"This girl is ruining my life. My job, my reputation. And if we ever get home, I'm gonna need a vacation," Jenny rap, she was getting into this.

"Yeah, tell it, girl!" The audience joined.

"But no matter what, I won't be a quitter. Gonna care for these kids, 'cause I'm the ba...by...sitter."

"She ain't no quitter. She's the babysitter," the audience sang along and the rest of us kids join in.

We dance along to this. Then all of a sudden Lola jumps in "Hold up just a minute, that's not the straight scoop. This girl's so uptight, she's tied in a loop," Lola rap.

"We got ourselves a battle of the babysitters," the DJ shouts excitedly, Jenny was getting ready, I head to her side

"Uh, let's rewind this movie an hour or two. The kid snuck out, I didn't have a clue."

Trey goes up to microphone "Yeah, that's true," Trey said, I roll my eyes at his cockiness.

"Okay, I admit it, I don't follow rules. I'm not good with kids, I'm not good at school. It wasn't my plan to steal a car, or end up in jail, or end up this far. It's true I lied, but nobody's died. And these kids are having an incredible ride," Lola raps grabbing onto A.J.'s hand and nods towards me. I went to the corner of the stage and did a round off back handspring double full. I land and turn to see that I'm really close to Trey like our noses are touching close. I wish I could just grab him and kiss him. We pull away from that little moment when we saw a flash from a camera go off.

"You think you know it all, but you don't know me. See, I'm more than just Miss Spelling Bee."

"Wanna be a real artist, take pictures, get gritty, on your first night out in the big, bad city. You're a cool girl, Jenny, but I'm pretty cool, too," Lola rap.

"Go, Lola, go, Lola," we cheer.

"In fact, I'm just as great a babysitter as you. Ha!" Lola drops the mic.

"She's right, I'm smart, and I do follow rules. I work real hard, and I care about school. There's a time for fun, to let go and climb trees, but I am a real artist; everybody say cheese."

We all gather around and posed in front of the camera, I just simply smiled. "We ain't no quitters. We're the babysitters. They ain't no quitters. They're the babysitters. They're the babysitters. They ain't no quitters. They're the babysitters. They ain't no quitters. They're the babysitters. They're the babysitters," this is honestly so much fun, we started this cool dance and then everyone was joining in.

"We ain't no quitters. We're the babysitters."

"That's right," Lola adds.

"They ain't no quitters. They're the babysitters, they're the babysitters. They ain't no quitters."

"Lola, they're here look," Jenny freaks out at the view of something. I look over to the crowd and see the men chasing after us, great they just had to ruin the fun.

"Peace out! Let's go, guys," we ran off stage, luckily no one in the audience really notice, they were too busy enjoying the babysitters' rap.
