Ember P.O.V.

"Hey," I say walking over to him. "Gildarts, how long has it been? Three years?" I smile, taking off my hood.

"Ember, you've grown a lot. How are you? Are you going back to the guild? Do you need a doctor of any sort? Have you seen anyone else from the guild? Have you given up on-?"

"Hahahahaha," I start to laugh like a maniac. "Wow, 'mom'. Nice to see you too!" I haven't smiled like this in so long. It feels good. "No, I finished the job seven years early, so I'm coming back to the guild."

The train pulled in, and I grab my bag. A small glowing ball fall out of my scarf, (the place I keep the more important things, money, keys, food, the lacrima) and onto the pavement.

"No-," I quickly pick it up and put it back in my scarf. Gildarts is a mellow man, so he doesn't ask, out loud anyway. He gives me a look, and waves his hand as if not seeing anything. That's why I can trust him, he knows when its time to just ignore what he saw and go about his life like nothing happened.

"Come on Ember or we won't get a good seat."

"Coming!" I quickly run up next to him, "Let's go home." I smile, I know he's worried, I've known Gildarts for a while, after Igneel the fire dragon and the Azure Wave Marshal Dragon, La Sirene, left, Gildarts acted like a father figure to my brother and I, playing ball, fishing,camping, and other games. It was a fun childhood, until master Makarov gave me a job, and I had to 'leave' the guild in order to do the job. I had Hibiki hide my Fairy Tail guild mark with a spell and I got the Sabertooth guild mark on my shoulder. It disgusts me to have the Sabertooth guild mark, I'm a fairy! I will always be a fairy!

"Come on, Ember. Let's go fishing!" Natsu started to pull on my arm.

"I can't." I state.

"Why not, we always fish together?" Natsu inquires.

"I-I- I'm going on a job. A long one." I don't look into my twins black eyes.

"Can Happy and I come?! We'll help you." He's so full of energy.

"You can't come. I have to do this alone, Natsu. This job is very important to Makarov, he told me that I had to do this alone. I'm sorry Natsu. You can't come on this one."

"But-" I cut him off by raising a hand.

"No. You can't, I need to do this by myself."

"You promised that you wouldn't leave me! You told me that you'd stay by my side!"

"And I will," I take off my necklace that I got on another job. "I will always be by your side. No matter what happens, I will be right here." I put the necklace over his head and he grabbed it, crying.

"Please don't leave me, Ember I can't do this alone. I need you."

"You won't be alone, you'll have the entire guild with you." I give a weak smile. "And remember Natsu, no matter what, I am a fairy. Got it? I am a fairy." The only hint I will give about the job.

"Will you tell me what the job is or how long it will take?"

"I don't know how long it will take and I'm not allowed to give anyone any information. Master's orders. Stay strong Natsu, stay happy. And find someone you can truly trust. Promise me Natsu, that you won't ask about the job, you won't give anyone a hard time, and you will find friends that you can trust. Promise me, Natsu!" I'm now hugging him, also crying.

"I p-p-promise, Ember. I promise!"

Gildarts tapped my shoulder, "It's time kiddo." He looked bothered.

"Okay. Stay safe Natsu, please." I say my final words and take Gildarts by the hand.

Little did I know that it would be three years of torture until I got to go home.

On the train Gildarts and I talked about the job and how hard it was. I told him it was difficult, but interesting. I now have the lacrima needed for master Makarov to place a somewhat protective barrier over Magnolia.

"I can't wait to get back to Magnolia and see the town again. Hanging out with those Sabertooth idiots was torture." I"m looking out the window at the rocky terrain.

"You look tired, when was the last time you got some sleep?"

"Huh?" The sudden question from Gildarts pulled my attention away from the window and back to him, "Oh, I really haven't been able to sleep lately. Nothing to worry about though. I'll be fine." I rub the back of my very stiff neck, giving a weak smile.

"Try to get some sleep, we won't reach Onibas station for a while." Gildarts says sternly.

"Fine. I'll try." I really do need the sleep. I haven't been able to. I keep having these nightmares and I can't sleep. I've tried, I just can't.
