ACT FOUR, SCENE TWENTY FOUR
LETTERS
Auntie Sage,
I was sorted into Gryffindor, just like my parents.
But the hat took a while to sort me. Couldn't decide between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Did you know the hat talks? It told me it had trouble sorting you, too.
Anyway, Ron Weasley says his mum says hi. Did you know his mum?
Madeleine's been showing me around the castle. There's pictures of all the past Prefects on the walls in the hallway where some of our classrooms are. I saw a picture of you when you were young. You look exactly the same.
When my Potions professor saw me, he looked like he'd seen a ghost. He's also an asshole (sorry. swear jar.) Professor Snape hates me, I think.
Why does everyone here have such good things to say about you? Professor Dumbledore says you were (are?) an excellent fighter. That's strange, to hear everyone talking about you.
Anyway, I'll write soon. My bed here isn't as comfortable as my bed at your house.
Sincerely,
Harry Potter
PS: Do I have to go back to the Dursley's for Christmas? I really don't want to.
Aunt Sage,
Thank you for the sweets. I shared them with my friends in Gryffindor.
I miss you and Uncle Regulus and Aunt Maia and Uncle Remus and Aunt Rowan and Anna-Lee. Madeleine misses you, too.
Also, I'll probably be staying at school for Christmas, if that's alright.
Love you!
Sincerely,
Harry Potter
Aunt Sage,
Happy Halloween/birthday!
There was a troll in the dungeons. It attacked me in the loo. But don't worry—I stopped it!
There's this boy, Draco Malfoy, that's not very nice. He keeps saying 'My father will hear about this,' as if his father is any match for you. I think you might have to fist-fight his dad. You could take him.
Sincerely,
Harry Potter
Aunt Sage,
Do you know anything about the Philosopher's Stone?
This is urgent, so please respond quickly.
Sincerely,
Harry Potter
PS: someone gave me my dad's invisibility cloak for Christmas. Did you know he had one? Apparently, they're really rare.
Miss Fontaine,
Your godson had quite the run-in with one of our professors. I figured I'd tell you so you knew. He's fine, perfectly fine. Just a bit scraped up.
Harry's a hero, truly. You raised him right, Sage. He's got every good quality that you, Lily, and James possessed.
Have a good summer, Sage.
Sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress
