Chapter 7: Good Job
Sorry I haven't written in a while, I took an impromptu half term writing break ;)
This chapter contains some homophobic remarks. These remarks are absolutely not my opinion and only of the characters.

Miss Hawley muttered something angrily at the floor when she entered and her eyes widened enormously when she turned to see us.
"Oh my goodness!" She cried out, stopped in her tracks.
I practically flew across the room onto my chair before she had finished speaking and looked down at my feet. When I looked up I saw Joel still leaning forward and when he realised I was gone he swung his head round to face me. He knitted his eyebrows together and laughed slightly when he saw me, baffled by my reflexes. I could tell I was blushing heavily and looked back down to the floor.
Miss Hawley was still trying to recuperate. I blurted out an apology but continued to stare at the ground.
"Oh don't worry dear!" She chuckled. "I know what kids get up to! I was just surprised is all!"
She was blushing herself and quickly found her way back to her desk.
"My, my!" I heard her continue under her breath.
After she had steadied herself she told us we could go and said goodbye with a swift wink. It was all very awkward.
Once we had left the office Joel and I lingered for a moment outside the door. I was the first to speak.
"Ah," I laughed, trying to break the tense silence. "Are you feeling better?"
Joel looked up from the ground and smiled.
"A lot, thank you."
I could still see the mark on his lip and a faint bump on his forehead but he still gave me shivers when he looked at me. After he had spoken he stared deep into my eyes, a soft smile on his lips. He sighed happily.
"You're so beautiful." He breathed, looking euphoric.
I felt the blood rise to my cheeks and looked away.
"As you've said." I retorted playfully.
He laughed and began to make his way back up the stairs.
As we turned the corner we saw Tom coming in our direction. I was walking alongside Joel and I saw his smile drop the moment Tom was in his line of vision. He shuffled the left of the stairs, presumably to be out of Tom's way and avoid any form of contact. An ugly smirk grew on his face as we moved further up the stairs. Joel shot him an angry stare and Tom drew a breath to speak.
"Gayboy." He spat.
"Piss off Tom." I sneered as he passed me. He stopped suddenly in his tracks.
"Ooh!" He cooed sarcastically. "Cameron's found her voice!"
"My name's not Cameron."
He raised a finger to point at Joel.
"I bet twinkle toes over there wished it was." He said with venom in his tone.
I didn't understand why he kept making these gay references. Joel obviously wasn't gay, he just kissed me! I hope he doesn't think I look like a boy...
I rolled my eyes at Tom, but it did not discourage him. I could feel his dirty hot breath on my face. I turned to look away but he pushed my head to face him. I felt Joel move closer to me.
"Listen Cam," he breathed, using my real name."We both know you don't like me, but we can change that. You're hot Cam, and I don't want a girl as fit as you wasted on that fag."
His words were untrue and disgusting. After he had spoken his smirk grew wider and he snaked his right arm around my waist. I pushed him off me, not hiding my disgust in my expression. I raised my right hand and slapped him across the face with such force he fell backwards. It was his bad cheek that Joel had punched; whoops.
"There's something wrong with you bitch!" He called, holding his hand to his cheek.
I skipped up the stairs behind Joel and when I caught up with him I saw him trying to hide a smile. Tom was still whining and rolling around on the floor behind us. Joel turned to face me as we reached the top of the stairs.
"Good Job."
