Serena's POV:

I woke up the next day and looked out of the window. The ferry had just gone past what I believe is Johto and now approaching Kanto.

I yawned while stretching and then decided to get dressed before getting my things together and looking out to sea from the front.

Soon enough the ferry arrived on the docks of Vermilion City. I was given a map when I left and found that Pallet Town was quite a while away from where I currently was. I sighed but then I realised that meant I could spend the day looking around Kanto and possibly buying Ash some presents.

I left the docks and headed up to the city. It was very big with lots of tall, similar looking buildings, which meant that I would get easily lost. I still smiled though because despite all of this I was really excited.

I looked around the many shops but couldn't find anything I thought Ash would like. I just really wanted to get something meaningful for him like how he got me the blue ribbon but I just couldn't find anything like that.

While I was walking down a street, I then saw two people running my way. It was two boys with tan skin but one of them looked very similar.

It was only when they ran past me that I realised that the boy with the wide grin and Pikachu was, Ash! I quickly spun around and began to chase them.

"Ash! Ash!" I called as I ran after him.

The boy that had been running along side him stopped and turned to face towards me with a confused expression. Then Ash realised his friends was no longer beside him so he stopped and walked towards me.

"Ash!" I exclaimed.

It took him a few seconds but then he grinned again.

"Serena!" He replied.

I ran towards him and we then hugged. I looked over at his friend and noticed he was looking at me very sceptically, which I didn't understand at first.

"It's great to see you again, Serena!" He said.

"It's great to see you too!" I replied.

"So, why are you here, Serena?" The friend stepped into the conversation.

"I wanted to come and visit... Kanto, and to see Ash because we were good friends when we travelled around Kalos together!" I explained.

"Cool, also, this is my friend Goh!" Ash introduced Goh, "He's a really good friend of mine here in Kanto and we're both research fellows for Cerise Labratory!"

"Hello Serena..." Goh muttered.

"Research fellows?" I questioned.

"Yes, we go all around the world to all of the different regions to research pokémon and investigate issues that involve it," Goh explained.

"I couldn't have described it better!" Ash replied, patting his friend on the shoulder, and then said to him, "Anyway, why don't we go and take Serena there?"

"We're supposed to be on a mission though," Goh said.

"We can drop her off there and then go on the mission, we'll do it really quickly!" Ash said.

"Okay then," Goh responded.

With that, I followed behind Ash and Goh and then led me up to Cerise Laboratory. It was a really big building and looked really cool on the inside when we entered it. I wouldn't mind staying here with Ash, but his friend, not so much.

"Okay so we need to get going but see you later!" Ash said.

I didn't really understand why I couldn't just go with him but I was still happy to hear his voice.

"Bye!" I responded.

Goh shut the door behind them which left me all alone. That's what I had thought until a girl with maroon hair arrived down the stairs...
