"I'm SO NOT DOING THIS!" Julie shouted. "Did you hear me Jade?"

"Please Julie! You know I'm not doing this on purpose. I didn't invite fever on the most special day of my life it came on its OWN!" Jade, her twin sister replied with a cracking voice.

"Seriously why did you have to get sick just before that stupid day?" Julie was pacing her sister's room impatiently, worried about the coming tomorrow.

Valentine's Day was another opportunity for the Cunningham family to show how much they loved charities. They didn't miss a single holiday, a single opportunity to throw a charity event. They needed to maintain their impression in the town and for that charity events were arranged almost every month. This year the head of their family, Julie and jade's grandfather, came up with the idea of celebrating Valentine's Day in a charitable way.

It was going to help the people who worked hard for everyone in the town, the people who prepared cards, gifts, special rose bouquets and many more sweet things to make everyone's valentine special. As Valentine's Day was celebrated most among the youngsters Julie and Jade had to represent their family as best as they could.

Jade and Julie were twins. They had the same deep scarlet hair, snowy white skin and shimmering emerald eyes. Their personality was the only thing which was not common. Julie was rough while jade was delicate. Julie loved being alone while Jade was a social butterfly. Exactly opposite was how people described them.

Julie never participated in any charity event of her family of course because she hated being among so many people. Jade fulfilled all the responsibilities as the daughter of the wealthiest family. She always did her best.

Valentine's Day was also supposed to be represented by Jade. She had everything prepared. She had been taking dance classes from her dependable cousin for this day. She personally went for shopping of her dress. She was waiting for this exciting day to come.

All of her excitement washed away when she came down with high fever. Her fever wasn't showing any signs of improvement even after the medicine she took. Her father provided her with highest treatment from a private hospital but nothing worked.

"This sucks!" Julie grumbled looking at her sick twin.

"Julie you have to do this. Just this time, please?" Jade pleaded. She respected her grandpa and was ashamed of the fact that she could not participate this time. She was also aware of the fact that her twin sister didn't give a damn about it.

But she knew her sister loved her.

She would do that not for the family but for her.

"Julie..." Jade stretched her hand out of the blanket and grabbed Julie's surprising her.

"Jade it's really cold outside." Julie said putting her warm hand inside. After pausing for a moment she smiled to herself. "I'll do it even though it's going to bore me to death."

"Really? Thank you so much Julie! I love you!" Jade cheered smiling as wide as she could, she felt proud of her sister, after all Jade knew how difficult it was going to be for Julie.

"Let me take your measurements Jules." Noah, Julie's one and only friend on this planet and son of a fashion designer said playing with his tape.

"Not happening smarty. I'm not wearing that pink fluffy stuff. I love black. If I'm going to participate I'm wearing black." Julie stated the obvious.

She was most comfortable in that colour.

"Did you ask your mother about it?" Noah knowing it all, asked anxiously.

"She won't let me wear black so..." Julie sighed thinking how she was the odd one born in the family. "I'm not going to tell her."

Noah's eyes widened. "What? Do you want to get yourself killed?" He perfectly knew everyone in the family treated Julie differently. She never followed what was told to her so no one was happy with her.

"She may not love me as she loves Jade but she is still my mother." Julie said glancing at herself in the mirror.

They were in her room, trying to pick a dress for tomorrow.

"I know she loves me too." Julie murmured to herself. She really wanted to believe in that.

"Fine, then guess you don't need me anymore?" Noah smiled in the reflection from behind.

"I still need you superman, don't worry." Julie shot him a smirk before opening her huge wardrobe.

"Help me pick the right dress, will you?" Noah nodded and mimicked her butler's British accent. "Of course, my lady."

"Julie!" A shrill voice disturbed Julie, waking her up from her precious sleep.

"Julie!" The annoying voice called again, a bit louder this time.

"What?!" Julie jumped up on her bed and barked. "Mother?" To her utter surprise her mother was there to wake her up, who never even stepped in her room before.

"Hurry up Julie! Everyone is waiting for you. How can you be so lazy? Look at your sister! She is sick and still woke up an hour before you!" Julie didn't flinch. She perfectly knew how everyone in the family thought of her. A lazy and spoiled brat was her image.

"I'll be down in a minute." It was her mother's turn to get surprised. Julie, who has never spoken to her in a tone lower than a shriek, actually spoke a normal sentence in a normal tone.

After her mother left her room Julie took a long warm bath followed by her usual hairdo a messy bun and put on the backless black full length dress which Noah picked out for her ultimately being the perfect one she was searching for.

She climbed down the huge golden staircase not looking at the butlers and maids bowing to greet her, she quickly made her way in the dining room.

"You are late." Her grandfather muttered the moment she stepped in.

"I'm sorry grandpa." She lowered her head apologetically even when she wasn't feeling sorry at all.

"So, have you got your date for today?" It was her Aunt Stacy, the person she hated the most. Julie shook her head indicating a no.

"What? Oh my God! What's wrong with you?" Everyone knew Stacy loved to exaggerate things especially when it came to Julie.

"Calm down. We have already decided who is going to be her date." Julie glanced curiously at her father. That's why she hated this family. They thought they could always decide everything for their daughters. Literally everything.

She didn't care though. She was now not interested in love, fate, destined one and so on.

Because love only brought her sadness and pain so she abandoned those feelings she had for someone.

"Julie after you finish your breakfast I want you to meet him. He is in the guest room." Her father ordered and Julie simply nodded.

Then everyone began to talk about today's event cheerfully leaving Julie out of the conversation acting like she isn't there. Julie was used to it so it didn't bother her.

"So you are Julie Cunningham I suppose?" Julie straightened her dress before she looked up at the stranger's voice.

A fairly handsome boy obviously of her age stood in navy blue suit paired with dark blue tie. His chestnut hair were parted it one side making him look like a classic film's leading actor.

"Yes and you are?" Julie cocked her left eyebrow in surprise. She didn't know her family would actually arrange such a handsome guy for her.

Well, they are doing it for their reputation, not you.

She pushed that thought away and smiled at him.

"I'm Harry Nicholas, your date for today's Valentine dance." He extended his hand taking her in his and kissed it softly.

Julie felt nothing special, no butterflies, no Goosebumps, nothing.

"I see. It's nice to meet you Harry." She tried to say in the most polite way. His cobalt blue eyes didn't faze her as she looked in them. She was trying to like him but nothing in him made her heart flutter.

Valentine dance event was due at five o'clock in the evening and at four o'clock Julie was restlessly pacing in her sister's room again

"Julie, are you worried about the dance?" Jade asked already figuring out why her twin was looking so pale.

"Yes but that's not the only thing giving me shivers." She stopped to look at Jade. "Will I be able to do it properly? I'm not like you Jade. I can't dance for God's sake."

"Harry will manage to cover your mistakes just fine. Don't worry." Jade assuringly smiled. She knew Harry for more than six years now, she knew how understanding and cooperative he was.

"You look absolutely breathtaking sister." Jade complimented her sister who helped herself with some make up. "Thank you." Julie bent down and kissed Jade's forehead. "Wish me luck." She whispered.

"All the very best Julie." Jade giggled softly and watched her twin walking out of the room.

"Chris!" Victoria whined again.

"Victoria will you please stop calling me that?" Christopher snapped. He couldn't help it. He was at his limits.

He didn't plan to attend the Valentine Dance held by the Cunninghams but when he heard Julie was going to participate instead of Jade his plans immediately changed. He had lost count of how many years he waited for this day. He wanted to meet her again and try to erase the misunderstanding between them.

He wanted one more chance.

He reached the venue on time and had his irritating date Victoria which his mother forced him to take with still he felt uneasy. His sharp dark green eyes kept searching for her. It'd been years since she shut herself behind the doors of her own shell, never stepped outside again. That girl, the only one he loved was finally coming out in the people today.

He left Victoria at the counter and mingled with the people who were chatting animatedly with each other in groups.

Where could she be? He thought as he moved forward from one group to other. Dance was about to start and she was nowhere to be found.

Julie...

As if on cue the host announced loudly. "Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce you all to Miss Julie Cunningham! The daughter of Mr. Ross Cunningham, making her appearance first time in public! Please welcome her with a big round of applause!"

Loud noise of claps didn't reach Christopher's ears. He was gazing straight at the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Her long scarlet hair were tied up in a messy bun, her black dress fitted her body perfectly showing off her figure accurately.

She was mesmerizing.

"...and I hope you enjoy this evening." Julie ended her small speech and flushed when everyone clapped. She wasn't used to this huge attention.

"Let the Dance begin!" the host announced and slow music began.

"Shall we?" She found Harry, her escort tonight standing by the stairs. He was flashing his white teeth through his huge grin. Let's get over with this bullshit she thought and walked towards him slowly not making any awkward movements as she knew her parents were watching her keenly from a secure distance.

She didn't know how to dance but she had to admit that Harry was trying his best to make them look flawless. They stood out in the crowd full of red and pink dresses. Everyone was happy, enjoying except her. She wanted the dance to end because it was boring her to death.

When the so called sophisticated dance came to an end she let go of Harry's hand and dragged herself out of the crowd.

"Julie?" a voice called. "Julie? Can I talk to you please?"

Julie whirled around just to find a strikingly good looking face greeting her with a smile. She recognised this face, what brings him here? She thought while she focused her emerald eyes on him. The only boy who made her believe in love was standing in front of her. White suit paired with a jet black tie matched his jolly personality.

"Christopher?" She didn't believe he was here even after staring at his captivating eyes for several minutes. It's him. She smiled wondering how he still made her nervous.

He broke your heart.

A voice in her head warned her and she quickly recovered. "What are you doing here? Why are you talking to me?" she sensed how bitter she sounded. She remembered the reason that made her hate this day, this whole concept of valentine. It was him. He was the sole reason behind her sadness.

"I need to tell you something really important." He hesitated but then extended his hand in front of her.

"What? Do you expect me to listen to you Chris? Please tell me this is some kind of joke. You are a jerk!" Julie screamed, she didn't care if she was gathering people around her, she didn't care what her family thought anymore.

"Please! I beg you Julie! Let me explain! I know..." he paused looking down in shame. "I know I let you down, I ignored you Julie. I've realised it was the biggest mistake...I...I only wanted to make you jealous and I didn't realize when things got out of my control...I-" He stopped when he saw small stream of tears rolling down her eyes, it tore his heart. After all these years, he was still making her cry, that was breaking him from inside.

"You didn't know how much courage I gathered up just to tell you that....that I love you...and you rejected me, ignored me, embarrassed me in front of the whole class...and-" a sob escaped her lips. "You tell me you have to tell me something important? What you could possibly tell me after all these years Christopher?"

"I know it's not fair but I'm selfish and I'm asking you for another chance Julie, another chance to make you love Valentine, another chance to fix everything I messed up...Julie..." he stepped closer and took her shaking hands in his. "No matter how other people see you I know you are the most kind hearted and soft person from inside. No matter how bold and rough you act..."

He couldn't complete his sentence as Julie hugged him, squeezing his body tightly, pouring small drops of tears on his shoulder.

"Do you still love me?" he whispered softly in her ear and her skin shivered. "Yes." She replied, her face still buried in his chest.

"Gosh...I love you so much Julie." He craned his neck and showered her neck with small wet kisses leaving Goosebumps on her skin.

"Can I have this Dance Julie?" He bowed himself and asked politely. She nodded still wiping her tears.

She felt amazing after a long time in her life as she walked in the middle of the stage and wrapped her hands around his shoulder and then they started to dance

(A/N: Play the song in the multimedia section or if you have the song where do broken hearts go by one direction in your playlist then play it while you read the next part)

Counted all my mistakes and there's only one
Standing up on a list of the things I've done

All the rest of my crimes don't come close
To the look on your face when I let you go

So I built you a house from a broken home
Then I wrote you a song with the words you spoke

Yeah, it took me some time but I figured out
How to fix up a heart that I let down

Now I'm searching every lonely place
Every corner calling out your name

Trying to find you but I just don't know
Where do broken hearts go?
Where do broken hearts go?

"What were you doing all this time?" Julie asked pouting at him. He swirled her around and caught her in his arms just when she was about to touch the ground.

"Regretting that I ignored you baby." He sighed. "I've been through millions of sleepless night Julie...I can't bear it anymore...I need you."

Tell me now, tell me now
Tell me will you ever love me again?
Love me again?

Are you sleeping baby by yourself?
Or are you giving it to someone else?

Trying to find you but I just don't know
Where do broken hearts go?

Tell me where you're hiding now?
Where do broken hearts go?

Come on baby, cause I need you now
Where do broken hearts go?

Tell me, cause I'm breaking down
Where do broken hearts go?

Come on baby, come and get me out
Come on baby, come and get me out
Come on baby, cause I need you now

"Can I ask you one more thing?" he asked while they danced. "Go ahead." She tried to hide her smile.

Their dance was over and now she stood tempted to know what he was going to ask.

He knelt down on his knees and gave one of his best smiles. "Will you be my Valentine, from here on, for the rest of my life?"

"Of course I will!" she cheered throwing herself at him. He swung her around and she laughed her heart out.

Her beautiful eyes didn't hold any sadness and sorrow anymore. They shimmered with the emotion called love.

It was the very first time in her entire life...

She finally loved the Valentine.
