Chapter 25: Committed
Delphi's POV
My eyes opened to a bare chest moving up and down rhythmically. My cheek rested just above his heart, and his scent engulfed my senses.
One of his strong arms were around my waist, keeping me in place and the other holding me against him.
My mind tired focusing on one feeling but the various tingles going all through my body made it hard for it to concentrate.
The surroundings were unfamiliar for a while but Sylvester's room looked to have been meant for me.
I scooted closer to the warmth of my mate, feeling like I belonged there.
Though I closed my eyes again, sleep didn't bless me with it's presence, I moved my head around to take a notice of the heaven beside me.
All had changed in a few hours, forgiving him had been a big minute decision but letting him in took a while. I still didn't know if I have trusted him enough. Being mates fastened the process of getting together, a life without him did seem unfathomable.
Apart from his impulsive behaviour on our first meeting, I hadn't found anything in him which I personally was against.
He had made every attempt in the book to show me he cared, and how can I believe he didn't?
We are after all part humans, mistakes forcing through our actions.
His eyes were closed and his expression was one of peace and contentment.
I took in all his devilishly handsome features, his hair, eyes, lips all made to perfection.
My hands found it hard to resist the urge to feel his skin against mine as I trailed a finger across his jawline leading to his lips.
I registered the words after feeling a tongue swipe across the pad of my finger.
"Staring is rude, you know?" His husky morning voice startled me as I made an attempt to move my hand from where is rested in harmony.
But before it could move, he held it against him.
"You look beautiful." He murmured placing a soft kiss on my cheek where a blush made an appearance.
"I should get going, lot to do today." I muttered to myself getting out of the comfort of his arms.
"Can't you call in sick today?" He called out rolling on the bed.
"No, work is work. And you have college to attend. Get up, it's late already."
"I'm not going." He spoke into the pillow.
"What?" I challenged with a raised eyebrow.
"I'm not going, and you aren't too. I'm taking you out, you're booked for the entire day." He was now sitting upright making it hard for me to keep my eyes on his face. His hair was sticking in different directions and this demanding look made me squirm.
"I am not agreeing to that, you know. I have to go to work." I had reached a point where I didn't see sense in my argument anymore.
Sylvester had left the bed and was making his way towards me in confident strides.
"Don't go today, one day." His voice compelled me to give into his request and his close proximity only aided his demands.
"I guess one day wouldn't hurt." He nodded pushing my hair off my shoulder.
"No, not at all." He whispered against my neck making a shiver run down my spine.
He peppered soft kisses against my neck as a low moan left my lips.
"Get ready, I'll see you in the kitchen." I was still in daze till I heard the bedroom door close.
I went to take a shower and slipped on the clothes I had gotten for home.
A navy blue jeans, white off shoulder top and bellies showed to be the casual outfit for what I assumed was Sylvester and mine first date.
I pulled my hair into a high ponytail and applied lip balm.
The kitchen was easy to navigate but I didn't see Sylvester inside, but I found Mrs Kingsley sitting on the dining table across Mr Kingsley having a pleasant conversation.
"Good morning, Mr and Mrs Kingsley." I greeted them politely. Even after Mrs Kingsley's effort to make me call them by their first name, I still found it uncomfortable.
"Delphi! What a wonderful surprise, I didn't know you were here." Mr Kinsley turned and motioned for me to take a seat.
"It was a quick decision, to be honest." I replied taking a seat beside Mrs Kingsley.
"That's great. I'm so happy Sylvester made amends. That boy, he has a good heart just not a very agreeable ego." Mrs Kingsley stated shaking her head at her child's past doings.
"Have you seen him? He asked me to meet him here." I asked as Mrs Kingsley called out for a girl named Maria.
"Oh, no. He hasn't come down yet." Mr Kingsley replied.
"I'm here, I'm here." Sylvester announced placing a kiss on my forehead lingering for a little while longer.
"Well, son. When is the ceremony?" Mr Kingsley questioned.
"What ceremony?" I knew the answer to the question before I even finished framing it.
The Luna Ceremony. It's celebrating after the Alpha and Luna finish the mating bond and the Alpha female accepts the role of a leader officially.
Unfortunately, seeing that Sylvester and I haven't mated yet the idea of that occasion is a little discomforting.
"Dad." Sylvester warned upon noticing my reddening face.
"What? It's an honest question." Mr Kingsley shrugged nonchalantly but it was obvious he had alter motives.
A cook, who I assumed was Maria, placed two plates of food infront of us and left.
"Delphi and I will be leaving for the day." Sylvester and Mr Kingsley exchanged a look I didn't quite understand.
"Okay, have fun."
I sat beside Sylvester as he started the engine.
"Where are we going?" I asked, curiosity getting the best of me.
"Wouldn't you like to know." He chuckled keeping his eyes on the road as I huffed in my seat.
I wouldn't lie, when I saw the sigh board reading the name of an amusement park I felt my heart skip a beat.
I loved amusement parks, I would frequent them all with Ethan. But over the past few months I haven't been near one but seeing the hustle I couldn't help but reminisce.
"Come on, let's go." Sylvester tugged at my hand upon opening the car door.
It's time to make new memories, Delphi. Lyra encouraged.
And I couldn't agree more as I added to his enthusiasm.
"I hope you don't mind coming here." He said nervously.
"No, I'm rather fond of amusement parks. Besides, its the thought that matters." I smiled at him, giving his hand a definite squeeze. "Don't keep me away from the fun now."
We went straight to the haunted house. Both our faces holding the same expression; excitement.
"I hope you are ready." I squealed in excitement as the gate to the haunted house opened.
"I was born ready, love." I could practically hear the smirk in his voice. We started the walk through the unkept road hand in hand. The surroundings were dark and a few crickets could be heard at a distance.
The thrill of walking on an uncertain path pumped my adrenaline.
After a few steps, something fell on me. Seeing that it was a classical throw a spider act, I shrugged it off.
"Not your first time, I see." I heard Sylvester speak, his voice disturbing the stillness of the area.
"Why? Scared?" I taunted him with a smirk. When I turned around a skeleton was swinging infront of me, out of instinct, I screamed.
"Why? Scared, are you?" Sylvester mocked as the moment passed. I narrowed my eyes at a cocky Sylvester, promising to get back at him.
He took the lead after my little slip out. Though, he didn't seem startled by any of the dummies thrown at him. I tried to distract him when a man dressed as a Cyclops came running at him while screaming in quite a scary way but seemingly that didn't seem out of the ordinary to him. So, by the end of the path, I popped the question.
"How many times have you been here?"
"Once or twice when I was a kid, it did scare me quite a lot then. Now, I've seen worse." He laughed humourlessly.
Werewolves worked to live in peace but more than often fights break off between two packs, Sylvester must have been to a handful being the Alpha's son. I wouldn't sugarcoat, it's scarring.
I didn't comment any further, seeing that it wasn't the correct time or place for past experiences.
We laughed at the hideous dummies hanging from the hall ceiling and in between pranking each other, we saw what we had been missing out.
"Come on, I have something to show you." Sylvester said pulling Mr towards a tent against a wall.
"Where are we going?" I asked laughing uncontrollably.
"Trust me." And just like Cinderella did her Prince Charming, I followed him into a secret garden. So beautiful was the view, I couldn't help but stare in wonder.
Various vines lined the boundary of the garden, nature had it's way of living artistically.
"Wow, what place is this?" I whispered, not wanting to disturb the serene atmosphere.
"Well, funny story, my great grandfather found this place with my great grandmother and according to tradition every male or female mate of our bloodline comes here, here is where the bond begins." He sat down on the unruly grass, motioning for me to do the same.
"I don't really believe in traditions, but with you I'd like to do everything right from now." My already pumped up heart melted into mush hearing his following words and I couldn't help but place a kiss one his lips.
"That surely is a perfect way to pick up girls." I chuckled between kisses.
"Only you."
I don't know if it was the atmosphere or his sweet promises that made me come to my decision.
"Mark me."
