Chapter 18

Marinette's POV:

I watched in horror as Adrien turned into these blue particles. It was a gradual process until he was completely gone. I could barely believe it. What could have caused this to happen?  I did not think the molecular structure could break down that way.

"Adrien, no!  Adrien!" I yelled. I watched him disappear. I sobbed.

I had to find some way to bring him back to me. Before this happened to him, I saw some blue light and electricity surround him. I was not sure what caused it. Why had his standing around pushing buttons to keep us all safe by keeping the portals closed resulted in this?

I could not let him remain trapped in some other place.  I must get him back. I had to because I loved him too much to leave him stuck in some random space between the worlds.

I was one determined woman. I heard Felix and Bridgette object, but I did not care. I  was not about to lose Adrien after I had come all this way to be with him.  I grabbed up a transporter device and put it on my left wrist. I set it to the approximate time, date, and place I believed I would find Adrien and twisted the blue knobs on it to the far right twice, then pressed the small purple button down hard once. Nothing happened. I adjusted it more.

I yanked the yellow lever. I pressed the purple button again and heard a small sound. It sounded like music. Music to my ears. I smiled. I heard Felix and Bridgette shout.

It grew harder to understand what either of them tried to tell me.

    "I can't hear you," I said.

I saw my hands start to twitch. My fingers grew stiff, then, my legs, and toes.

Suddenly, I could no longer speak as a blue and yellow light pattern surrounded me. I closed my eyes and felt myself began to fall. "Ah!" I screamed as I fell, and fell. Suddenly, I felt strong arms surround me. I looked up into a pair of familiar green eyes. "Adrien," I whispered his name.

"Marinette, you shouldnt' have come here," I heard him scold me. "Why are you angry?" I asked.

"You were supposed to be safe back in the lab with Felix and Bridgette." He said.

I shook my head. "Safety is superficial if I am without you. Adrien, why are you being so stubborn?" I said. "Me stubborn? Who are you calling stubborn, woman?" He spat out. "I still don't see why are putting up such a fuss?" I told him. "How did you get here?" He asked. I showed him the transporter and saw his face turn ashen white. "You shouldn't have used that protype, it wasn't ready yet, and we still don't know all the reprecussions of its usage," He stated.

"Ugh, why are men so much alike?  Why can't they ever say thank you?" I blurted out.

"Marinette, now is not the time to argue." He remarked.

I rolled my eyes at him. Talk about his being ungrateful. How was I supposed to know he would react in such a way?  Why if I did not know any better he and Felix were more alike then I would prefer to believe.

"Adrien, watch out!" I shouted. I saw something headed towards us. He shook his head. It was clear he couldn't see it. Fine, if I had too, I would protect us both from whatever it was.

"Marinette, there is nothing there, it is an illusion," He tried to tell me. "No, it is real, and the sooner you believe that the sooner we both can get out of here," I  shouted at him. "Hey, don't get tough with me, Missy," He said. "It is Marinette to you, Adrien," I said. I felt tears sting my eyes because of the bitter attitude he had towards me. How dare he be such a jerk after all I had done for him.

I saw the animal charge towards us again. This time the beast was trying to bite Adrien's head off. As furious, as I was at him, I wasn't about to let some creature kill him. Not now, not ever.  I pulled out a sword, and chopped its head off. Adrien looked at me in surprise. He hadn't any idea I could fight like that and neither did I to be honest.  I hadn't any ideas where the sword had come from, but was glad for its sudden appearance just the same.

I  swung hard to the left next to strike. I missed it entirely. I swung again and this time the firey  serpent was slane. I had the victory over the beast and the snake. Yes! I thought.

Adrien reached up and touched my arm. "Marinette," He said. "Yes," I stated. "I am sorry," He said. "Sorry, for what?" He asked. "For this, " He said. He rubbed his fingers on my necklace. Soon, I passed out. I came too a few seconds later inside the lab. I looked around for Adrien.

"Adrien!" I called out.  I  heard footsteps approach. I looked up to see a very concerned Felix, and Bridgette staring at me. "Marinette, are you alright? We heard something break, and when we came in here we heard you shouting Adrien's name."  Bridgette explained. "Yes, we sure did," Felix added.

I shook my head. The whole thing, couldn't have been a dream, could it?

"Marinette!" I heard someone call for me. I turned to the right and gasped. I saw Adrien standing there with a bloody arm. I looked closer and saw that he had a wound on his forehead too. I  tried to run to him, but I could not reach out and touch him. Where was he?  Why could not I find him?  What if he was hurt or worse, dead?

I sobbed.  Felix and Bridgette tried to comfort me. I refused to be consoled. I looked at the transporter on my hand and saw that the light was glowing. What could that mean?  I pressed in the button on the side, and heard a message say, "Transport in progress, stand by for orders, Marinette!"  I gasped, what on earth?  Before, I could say anything, I was pulled away from the lab and transported somewhere else. I saw Adrien lying on the ground. His arm was messy, and his forehead looked bad too.

"Adrien?" I  asked. "M-Marinette," He muttered. He passed out. I held him in my arms, and heard a loud serin like noise. I pushed the button on the transporter again. I looked around me and saw the lab. Yes, I had made it back.

I see Felix and Bridgette staring at me in surprise. I laid Adrien on the table. I removed the transporter device.  I noticed Adrien was not breathing. I gave him CPR. Soon, he started to breath again. His chest rising and falling to show he was alive. Thank goodness.

I almost lost him. I sobbed at the knowledge. I  held his hand and he looked at me. "Marinette," He whispered. "yes?" I asked. "I am so thirsty," He said. I brought him some water. He took it and started to slowly sip it.

I heard loud noises, and saw flashing blue, yellow, white, and orange lights. I braced myself for impact. Nothing happened.  I looked at the transporter device. I gasped when it opened and someone stepped out of it. "Hey, I need your help!" Someone said.

Author's note: Who was it that spoke?
