Bermuda? Florian? Either Way I Better See Some Aliens
Tani sat in Franky's workshop while he searched for the right tools to fix her little issue... Those god damn, golden cuffs!
For a man with large hands, he was very gentle and careful with his movements. To the point that when he pulled out a tool that looked like a laser, Tani just covered her eyes and let Franky get to work.
The room was silent, save for the whirling of power tools. Franky needed to concentrate and making small talk would only cause a slip of the hand. Tani didn't enjoy the quiet all too much, it normally meant she was completely alone and that bothered her immensely.
The clinking of metal hitting the ground, alerted Tani to the sight of one cuff being removed completely. The weight completely lifted from her wrist... And the sight was awful.
The tan line was off, instead the skin was a reddish-brown colour that looked raw. Stretch marks adorned the spot, though they weren't as obvious as the marks on Luffy's arm from the golden ball.
Franky cut the second one off, the spot looking just as raw as the other side. She'd need to visit Chopper now.
"Alright Tani, you're wrists are super! Free now." Franky announced. Tani flexed her wrists, there was much more movement now. She'd barely noticed how limited her movement was, since it never really affected her ability to fight... Or it did and she's just improved so much that she didn't need the wrist movements. Oh she's gonna be even cooler now! Hopefully.
"Thanks a bunch Franky!" Tani hopped off the work bench, stretching herself out. Franky gave her a big thumbs up. "Got any plans for today?" Tani asked, poking at the sore spots, and yep! They hurt.
"Just tinkering with a couple of super! Projects I have," he answered. Tani perked up at that.
"What kinda projects? Can I see?" she asked curiously. Franky gave her a thumbs down.
"No way little-sis, it's a surprise." he said. Tani gave her best pout, she wasn't good at the puppy dogs eye thing, but she always managed with her mum... How was mum going?
"Woah! Usopp look at this one!" Luffy's voice rang over the ship. Oh now she wanted to know what he caught. The last time Luffy was that surprised at catching something, it was a ballerina man who ended up being really cool.
She climbed out of the workshop, spotting Luffy and Usopp belting out fish after fish into a small open latch. She was guessing it lead to the aquarium bar down stairs. The Sunny had so many levels, Tani was surprised Zoro hadn't gotten lost yet.
Then again, Zoro only really stayed in the observation deck. He'd claimed it as his personal gym, Tani guessed it's because of the view. He was always very observant of his surroundings. Like he's looking for trouble, blood thirsty bastard.
"Look out-"
*whamp*
A large fish of unknown origin smacked Tani in the face, the force of which knocking her backwards. She didn't fall over, so that's nice. Her face still hurt from the fish slap. Tani turned to face the culprit, and he didn't look sorry in the slightest.
"Look at all the fish we caught," Luffy smiled. Pointing at the latch that was still open for the fish to be tossed into. "Sanji's gonna make us lunch with all the fish we catch," Luffy was already drooling at the thought. Tani huffed a laugh, making her way towards the spare fishing rod. It's been a while since she's gone fishing. The crew always being busy with marines or saving countries, relaxing seems like an impossibility sometimes.
"Hey, the cuffs are off," Usopp pointed out. Holding his hand out for Tani, so he could take a closer look. "You'll wanna rest your wrists for a bit, I know how much it hurts to tenderise the muscles there." he stated, when did Usopp become a doctor? Oh wait! He uses a sling shot, and that needs wrist and arm movement.
Chopper trotted out of his new infirmary, a paper cloth wrapped around some herbs that he was hoping to dry out. Usopp waved the little doctor over, Tani let out a sigh. She knew this was gonna happen at some point.
"Can you get some antibiotic salve for Tani's wrists. Franky got the cuffs off." Usopp held her wrist towards Chopper. Who freaked out a bit, telling Tani off for not heading to his office immediately. He quickly headed back indoors, returning just as fast with a plethora of skin care items that Tani could guarantee she wouldn't use. Except the salve that Usopp mentioned... And sunscreen, because that stuff's important.
"Limit how much you use your wrists. Also keep them exposed to air, they haven't had a chance to breath for weeks." Chopper implored.
"Skin breaths?" Tani blinked. Chopper rolled his big eyes, before remembering something.
"I'll need you to come in for a check up sometime today," he stated sternly. Crossing his arms, because he knows that Tani will avoid her check ups for as long as possible. Then again, Chopper can always just ask Zoro for his help in... Apprehending Tani.
"Look at this fish!" Luffy called out. Whipping his line so fast that the fish went flying. Tani ducked the moment Luffy called out, the fish sailed over her head and-
*slap*
The group slow turned to find Robin standing there with five hands spawned, the large fish caught with in her grasp. Wriggling to free itself. Robin looked at Luffy with a reserved expression, those smiles still small, but full of elation and content.
"Luffy, you should be careful." she scolded lightly. Luffy rubbed his neck sheepishly, a weak apology was sent her way. She nodded before tossing the fish into the aquarium latch below. She turned to Chopper, "The sprouts for your plants have started blooming." she informed, before turning and winking at Tani. What does that-
"Amazing! I wanna see," Chopper cheered. Running towards the small garden that Robin had started.
That's what the wink meant. Robin is really out here saving Tani's bacon. Thanks pirate mum.
"Oi, something's floating our way," came Zoro's voice from the speakers outside the observation. Another genius addition from Franky, now all he needed to do was find the pirate equivalent of a movie theatre and Sunny would be perfect.
"I've got it," Luffy called out, tossing his fishing rod on the ground. His shoulder rolled, and stretched towards the unidentified floating object... Hehee UFO.
Luffy whipped his arm back, within his hold was a large barrel with a red signpost on it and a flag. The commotion was enough to bring the whole crew out.
Sanji was still stirring a mixing bowl full of crumbing for the fish dish he was making for lunch. Nami's glasses were still on her nose from drawing maps, and Zoro was sliding down the ladder, landing with a heavy thunk.
The crew surrounded the barrel, the label was in a scribble that Tani couldn't read. It looked Chinese? No Japanese? She couldn't tell the difference.
"It's an offering to the Sea God," Robin read. "Often there's offerings of sake or food within these barrels." she explained. "However, they can also be cursed. Leading to the total annihilation of crews," she added on, not losing that spark of amusement.
"I don't believe in any god's, so curses don't mean shit," Zoro smirked. Nami slapped her hand against her head.
"That's not how curses work, you algae brained dolt," Nami sighed. Zoro wasn't paying attention to her, opting to whip out a sword and stab it into the barrels top. When he pulled up, the lid went with it.
Everyone shoved their heads over the top, and found it completely-
A red flare shot up from the bottom of the barrel, bursting loudly in the sky. Sprinkles of red fluttered around the ship. A beat of silence rang over the crew until Nami's eyes widened.
"There's a storm coming," she called out. Just as she uttered those words, purple clouds consumed the sunny, blue sky. Usopp, Chopper and Tani all smacked Zoro.
"You've cursed us! Idiot, we just got out of a life or death situation," Tani whined.
"Bastard! Bastard! Bastard!" Chopper chanted angrily.
"I'm too young to die," Usopp cried, continuing to smack Zoro, until the swordsman growled at the trio. Who all backed off in an instant.
"The winds changed course! We're being pushed towards the storm." Nami said with urgency. "This must be that Florian triangle that Kokoro mentioned." Nami resigned. Tani heard the word triangle and panicked.
"Triangle?! As in Bermuda triangle? You didn't tell me there was a Bermuda equivalent in this world!" Tani cried. Nami ignored her whining, she had a storm they needed to get away from.
"Oi, Nami-sis." Franky called her over, she ran towards the helm. Franky was struggling to keep the ship on the course that Nami had set. "This wind is super not letting us go the way you wanna go." he informed.
"Can we coup de burst out of this?" the navigator asked. Franky shook his head.
"We don't have enough cola for a full burst." he answered. "But, I do have an attachment in dock 0 that I've been meaning to test." he informed. Nami nodded.
"That's all we have at this point, activate what it is," she commanded. Franky gave a wide grin and pulled a lever.
"Pull the sails up!" Franky shouted. A choir of groans was what met his ears, as well as the scurrying of feet.
"Time to activate dock 0! Soldier paddles," Franky yelled with excitement in his tone. Luffy, Usopp and Tani were looking over the side of the boat as they watched the sides shift until a set of paddle wheels popped out the side of Sunny.
"So cool!" the trio cheered. Distracted until Zoro called over and bonked them all on the head to get back to work.
The storm was approaching at speeds not even the Sunny could escape. Every inch the Sunny moved, the purple clouds would move a metre. The log pose beside the helm was going off the fritz, the magnetic pull of this storm confusing it.
The purple clouds, strange misty oceans and darkening waters... This sounded like the set up for a horror movie just waiting to happen.
...
Tani returned from her room in what can only be described as her "I'm a sci-fi horror movie protagonist," get up. Just a jumpsuit with the sleeves rolled up, the buttons in the front weren't done up, so she had a plain black shirt underneath.
She wanted to get into the mood, and what better way to do that! Than to look like a mix up of Ripley from Alien, and the Ghostbusters... That and she loves those movies. Sue her.
Everyone changed for the shift in weather conditions. It was slightly colder, but not enough to warrant winter gear. Like that shift from summer into autumn, just on the colder side of autumn.
Usopp was completely decked out in exorcism and vampire hunting gear. Kinda hilarious, maybe Tani should pretend she's possessed. Just to mess with him. She shut that thought down at the sight of his shaking legs.
"Wow, this really is a horror movie." Tani snickered to herself. "We have a cast of diverse characters, dark and ominous setting, now all we need is creepy music and a monster-"
"Yohohoho~ yohohohoo~"
"Who's doing that? I'm warning you." Usopp cried, pulled out his oversized cross and shoving it into people's faces. "I'm a master exorcist, having banished some of the most powerful demons to ever exist." the liar proclaimed. Zoro snorted at that claim, muttering to himself.
"Yohohoho~ yohohohoo~"
"Ok, for real though. Who is that?" Tani questioned. Granted, she wasn't easily spooked by ghost stories and horror movies. She just couldn't figure out how someone could throw their voice so far away.
The fog looked darker up ahead, no that wasn't dark fog. That was a wooden ship, a large one at that. The conditions of the ship were rotten and haunted, with torn sails and planks falling from the sides. There was even a skeleton hanging from the railing, holding a teacup in their hand-
Holding a teacup? If the person holding the teacup had died... Wouldn't the teacup have fallen out of their hand when their flesh started to rot away? Actually, how is that skeleton still standing up right-
The skeleton jitters a bit, their jaw opening and closing as that haunting tune started to drift towards them.
"Going to deliver Bink's sake~" the melancholic voice sang. Tani's eyes almost popped from her eyes when she realised who was singing. Hooboy, Usopp's gonna piss himself.
"Following the sea breeze~ riding on the wave~" the skeleton continued to sing. The crew all seemed to register the singer at the same time.
"Is that... A singing skeleton?" Nami asked with a hitch of terror. Sanji seemed to pale at the sight, Usopp was already holding onto Nami with fear.
"I wonder how he died," Robin said curiously. Already pondering the hundreds of gruesome demises she could imagine. Zoro looked bored, as if he'd seen this a million times before. Tani wishes she was that desensitised to the world.
Franky and a heavy point Chopper had to hold Luffy back. Luffy's arms flailing as he tried to jump over board, he really wanted to see the skeleton.
It was then that the skeleton stopped their singing, noticing the rowdy crew sailing by. Luffy gave a big shout.
"Hi, Mr skeleton!" Luffy waved. The skeleton gave a jolly laugh, that sounded like the beginning of their song, and waved back.
"When I think of the Bermuda triangle, I was thinking more along the lines of aliens... But skeletons and ghosts are cool too." Tani laughed nervously to herself. She wasn't scared! Just... This wasn't your average strange, this was advanced strange.
"I wanna see the skeleton, he looks so cool!" Luffy blabbered with his hands reaching out towards the ship. Before turning around and biting Franky's arm, the cyborg letting go out of shock. Luffy went flying forward, knocking into Zoro, who grabbed Luffy by the collar of his shirt and held him up.
"Who's going to the ship with Luffy? So he doesn't do anything stupid," Zoro asked. Luffy hanging limb in his hold, a wide grin on his face.
Nobody in the crew wanted to go with him. Zoro let out a sigh.
"Don't make me pick someone," Zoro threatened. This caused Usopp to quickly draw a handful of sticks.
"Let's draw straws, two have red tape on them." Usopp suggested. That sounded reasonable, the crew surrounded Usopp's hand. Everyone grabbing a straw and hoping that the red stick wasn't in their hold.
Franky, Usopp, Chopper, Robin and Zoro didn't have the red sticks.
So why the hell did Sanji, Nami and Tani all have red sticks?!
"Usopp, you said there were two sticks," Nami snapped, the sniper just shrugged. Not his problem.
"Come on let's go! I wanna see the skeleton, let's go!" Luffy begged. Zoro let out a sigh, before releasing the beast.
Luffy gave them no time to prepare. Already looping his arms around them and launching himself towards the other boat at lightening speed. Dragging his unfortunate companions behind him.
The small group landed with a thunk on the creaky moss covered deck of the ghost ship. Groans were drowned out by Luffy's loud laughter.
Tani lifted her head, ready to berate Luffy for his rough handling of her, when she found herself facing a long set of trouser covered legs. Thin as sticks, leading upwards to a skeletal pelvis.
Ah...
"Shit!" she gasped, shuffling backwards until her back was against the weak wooden railing the surrounded the ship. Note the word weak.
Her back slammed into the bare bones rail, a creak and snap of stringy twigs was all it took for Tani to fall backwards towards the ocean.
Luffy's arm grabbed around her waist before she hit the water. Hoisting her back onto deck with a laugh.
Tani got up from the deck, dusted herself off and looked at the skeleton with a much less terrified expression.
"The skeleton scared you," Luffy barked with humour. Tani crossed her arms and huffed.
"Did not! I was just startled is all... Jerk," Tani snapped, turning her head away from Luffy. The skeleton laughed.
"Yohoho, visitors. It's been so long, I can feel my heart beating out of my chest," the skeleton practically sang, only to pause, "Ah, except I don't have a heart." he stated before bursting into laughter at his own joke. Luffy laughed along too.
"You're funny," Luffy stated simply. "I'm Luffy, and I'm gonna be king of the pirates," Luffy introduced, he then motioned towards his crew.
"That's Tani, she's from another dimension. That's Nami, she's my navigator and she's really good at it too." he pointed to the ladies, "And that's Sanji, he's a really good chef that makes me lots of meat," he said when pointing to the blonde in question.
The skeleton gave a bow, before lifting himself up and top hat (and yes he had a top hat, the guy looks very dapper for a dead man).
"Pleased to meet you Luffy, my name is Brook," Tani's eyes widened at that. This was the guy that Oscar mentioned! The one that would-
"Join my crew," Luffy requested, though this is Luffy so it's more like demanded. Nami and Sanji with smacked Luffy against the head.
"Idiot! We don't know anything about him," Sanji shouted.
"He could be a dangerous man... Skeleton, dangerous skeleton!" Nami berated. Luffy gave a hum noise, before clicking his fingers.
"Are you dangerous? Also can you poop?" Luffy asked. His companions all face palmed.
"Luffy, that's not how it-"
"I'm not dangerous to friends, and yes I can," Brook replied. That was not information that Tani wanted to know, but she got it anyway and doesn't know what to do with it.
"Ok, the boring stuff is done. Now do you wanna join my crew?" Luffy grinned. Brook nodded.
"I'd love to join your crew," he said with a smile in his tone. Since he's a skeleton... He can't smile. Haha skull joke. Brook turned to Nami.
"Excuse me, Miss Nami." he addressed, Nami looked into his void eye sockets with concern. "My apologies, it's just I haven't seen skin in so long and your skin looks very soft. May I please touch it?" he asked politely. Nami grew red in the face, shaking her head no. Brook gave a small sigh, Tani felt bad.
"You can touch mine if you want," she offered. Keeping in the back of her mind that Brook does join the crew. So he must be a good person, Luffy wouldn't let someone unworthy of his name, sail under the same flag.
Brook took her up on the request, quick to grab her squishy hand and poke at it. His fingers were long and boney. The kind that would be seen playing pianos. The texture was just as weird, covered in many scratches and curves.
"Zoro's not gonna be pleased about this." Nami groaned. Sanji pat her on the shoulder.
"The freshly mown law-clippings wouldn't have been able to do any better than us." Sanji assured. "Plus if he tries anything, I'll puree his ass into a smoothie and throw it to the fishes." Sanji promised Nami. She giggled at that.
Luffy was watching with fascination as Brook messed around with Tani's cheeks. Luffy's cheeks stretched way further than hers did, how far do her cheeks stretch? He'd have to test that later. Right now he had a new crew mate to share with everyone else.
...
Zoro jumped straight into scolding the trio for their inability to suppress Luffy's impulse control. True to his words, Sanji fought back. Bickering with Zoro, kicking the swordsman, Zoro pulling his swords and oh there they go again with their brawling.
Brook pointed at the two, opening his jaw to speak only to have Nami, Robin and Tani shake their heads. Brook closed his jaw and watched as the boys roughhouse on the lawn.
"It appears my 'Skeletons that walk and talk can't be real' sickness is acting up," Usopp sobbed on the ground. Chopper already on the case, tried to explain that it wasn't a real sickness. Usopp ignored him and continued to rock back and forth.
"So... You're a skeleton?" Franky spoke up. Holding his hand to his chin, inspecting the living Halloween prop.
"Indeed I am." Brook said with his polite tone. He was very gentleman like, speaking like an old man from the industrial revolution.
"Were you always a skeleton? Or did you die?" Tani asked. She needed a monster origin story here. Brook's bones rattled as he laughed.
"I haven't always been a skeleton," he said simply. Ready to dive into the story, only for Luffy to interrupt him with his whining.
"Sanji," Luffy drawled, Sanji's name being elongated as Luffy flopped to the ground. "So hungry," he whined, like he'd been starving for months.
Sanji dropped the fight instantly, leaving Zoro to topple over as the chef made his way towards the galley.
It didn't take long for dinner to be prepared (how Sanji does it? Tani will probably never know) the large table in the centre of the dining area was covered in all sorts of dishes that a whole team of professional chefs would need to spend hours on.
The rectangular table was built to fit ten people, with four chairs lining each long side, and two chairs to top the ends. There was also a bar bench to the left side, and a couch to the right. Plenty of room for guests.
The seats filled up fast, the crew all on high alert. It was meal time, and meal time's are a battle zone. It didn't matter were you sat, Luffy would always find a way to snatch something off your plate. They even had a competition once to see who could survive the longest without Luffy stealing their food.
Tani won that game.
Brook watched in awe as the crew all defended, shared their winnings and attacked Luffy's snaking arms. His food had been snatched a couple times, but he didn't mind. Honestly he was just happy for the company, his emotions so overwhelming that he wanted to sing until his lungs gave out.
Except he doesn't have any lungs.
"So Brook," Nami started. Stabbing her fork down on Luffy's hand as he tried to steal one of her roast potatoes. "You said you weren't always a skeleton. Why are you one now?" she asked with genuine curiosity.
"I partook in the revive revive fruit," Brook said, "My crew and I were sailing through the Florian triangle, when we were annihilated by a rival crew." he spoke with a voice that sounded void of emotion at the mentions of his past crew. "My soul left my body, however. The fog was so thick that by the time I found my body again, it had completely decomposed." he ended, laughing at the end.
"It takes ages for a body to completely decompose," Tani says with shock. Chopper hops into the conversation.
"Depending on the conditions of his body, it would have taken at minimum." Chopper tries to count on his fingers, but he doesn't have any. He shifts to heavy point to count on his fingers. Brook gasps in amazement at the display. "About 5 years." Chopper stated. His eyes growing wide, a new question on everyone's mind.
"How long have you been out here on your own?"
"I don't know, I haven't seen a calender in a while... Except I have no eyes so I can't see," Brook joked. Choppers face was concerned.
"Five years alone would be enough to drive anyone crazy. Brooks probably been out her for much longer," the deer fretted.
"The condition of his ship is a mess too. Everything is super! Waterlogged and decayed." Franky mentioned. "That's a boat that hasn't been serviced for at least a decade or two." he informed.
"What was your crew name?" Sanji asked. Brook gave a jolly "Yohohoho" before answering.
"The Rumbar pirates." he would have grinned, if he had a face. It wasn't a name that anyone recognised.
"Have you heard of Gold Roger?" Robin asked. Brook put a hand to his chin and scratched at it. The sound was chalky and weird. Tani felt her spine shiver.
"No I haven't, is he important?" Brook answered. Robin gave a nod.
"It appears that Brook has been dead for at least 30 years." she deducted. Chopper started panicking.
Usopp had been awfully quiet through the whole ordeal. Not even a panicked squeak came from the brave warrior of the sea-
"BROOKS GOT NO SHADOW!" Usopp shrieked. Pointing at the ground under the skeletons feet. Sure enough, there was no shadow.
"Does that come with the whole "being a skeleton" thing?" Tani asked. Brook shook his head, a rattling sound came from his head.
"No, it was stolen," he stated.
"Stolen? Who stole it?" Luffy asked with a growing grin. This sounded like an adventure.
"A very powerful person. You should leave this place while you can," Brook warned. Standing up from his chair and bowing. His puffy Afro bobbed with the motion. "Thank you for the company, and the food. It's been a long time since I've met such wonderful people," he thanked.
"What? But your on my crew, why are you talking like you're about to leave?" Luffy said. Brook lifted himself back up, before cracking his neck towards Luffy.
"Unfortunately, because I'm lacking a shadow. I can't leave the Florian triangle. The moment sunshine hits my old bones, I'm as good as dust." he said in an accepting tone. Luffy stood up from his seat, slamming his hands on the table.
"We'll go get it back for you, then you can join the crew." Luffy said with a smile. Brook laughed.
"Your determination warms my heart. Even if I don't have one." he beamed. "I'm afraid that I myself have been unable to handle such a foe." Brook stated. "You are your crew are young, this is no place for bright souls such as yourselves. Leave while you can-"
Brook was cut off by the sound of loud clanking and roaring waves. Nami didn't sense a storm brewing in this spot, she's got a keen sense for weather changes after all. This was something else.
"Ah, it appears we're too late." Brook resigned. Zoro was the first one out the door, followed by Sanji, Nami and Franky. Everyone else pooled out the door to find that the Sunny had found herself seated in front of a giant island.
A stone wall circling around the perimeter of the island, with a wood and metal gate in the style of a draw bridge closing behind them.
They were trapped... Great.
"I don't understand," Nami said, tapping at her wrist. The log on her wrist was still pointing towards Sabaody. "Why isn't it reacting to the island?" she asked. Brook gave a laugh.
"This island was originally from the West blue," he answered.
"So it's a mystery island? That's so cool!" Luffy cheered, the crew had accepted their fate. Time to get the silver bullets and wooden stakes. It's haunted island time.
"My apologies, I should have warned you guys earlier." Brook apologised. Jumping onto the railing of Sunny and observing the area. "Stay put, I'll find the switch for the gate," he requested. Nobody could get a word out before he jumped off the railing and ran across the water at speeds so fast he practically glided across the deep ocean.
That's one way to get around a devil fruit weakness.
The crew watched as Brook arrived on the shore and continued his mad dash towards the medieval castle, in the centre of the island.
"So... What's the plan?"
...
"How long until we dock?" Zoro asked impatiently. His foot tapping on the deck as he watched Franky work.
Nami, Usopp and Chopper had already arrived on the island. Using the mini Merry that Franky had built in channel dock one. Nami, because she wanted to map out the island, Usopp, because it was a mini Merry and he was excited about it, and Chopper, because he hoped to find rare night blooming herbs for his medicines.
The rest of the crew had to wait on Sunny for at least half an hour, Luffy was already bouncing on his feet with impatience. Tani started humming to herself, the thick fog and spooky vibes of the island. Today was a Micheal Jackson kinda day, oh how she wished she had a red leather jacket.
"Can we dock now?" Luffy pestered for the 10th time. The men of the crew groaned, while Tani sighed and Robin sat there patiently.
"Hey Luffy, come look at this cool thing," Tani waved. She didn't miss the signs of relief that followed when Luffy came bounding towards her with excitement. She held her hands behind her back, she had nothing there but it would be enough to give a small distraction.
"What is it? Oi show me," Luffy reached behind her, but she twisted herself away. A playful gleam in her eyes, which Luffy managed to catch.
"Gotta catch it first," she teased. Turning and running up the stairs towards the back of the boat. Luffy was already hot on her heels, she had no idea how she was dodging his stretching limbs.
Maybe it's practice? Muscle memory? Being around Luffy would make him easy to read? Either way Tani was managing to mess around with Luffy while they waited for the boat to dock.
Tani ran into the galley, Sanji wouldn't mind her being there... He'd be annoyed about Luffy if the idiot broke anything. Tani would have to tread carefully.
"Haraharaharahara~"
Tani paused in her tracks, Luffy skidded right into her. The pair falling over onto the deck, Luffy went silent as Tani held up a hand to stop him from questioning her.
"Haraharahara~"
Tani snapped her neck upwards to find a cartoony white ghost, just barely visible in the light. Black beady eyes and round pink lips. Tani held her breath at the sight she wasn't afraid, not at all... OK maybe a little bit, but that's a ghost! A real ghost!
Luffy looked at where she was staring at, and jumped to fight the ghost. It drifted out of the room, leaving the pair in a strange silence as they wondered what the hell that was.
"Ships haunted," Tani breathed out. Standing up off the ground to rub at her legs. Luffy seemed to be growing more excited about this island by the minute.
"I wonder if we'll find a mystery monster, the ones that um," he poked at his head, thinking about this monster. Tani felt her ears perk up, that's odd... It sounds like there's another pair of feet in here-
Something touched her thigh.
Tani shrieked, turning her body with her leg lifted. Ready to kick the thing that touched her. Yet she found nothing there, Luffy stopped thinking and looked at her with confusion.
"Tani?" he called to her, but she continued to focus on her hearing. Footsteps, breathing, a creaking board, anything at all to give her some evidence she isn't going paranoid-
Something groped at her chest.
Tani moved lightening fast her hands grabbing at the offending perverts hands. She locked the guy (and it was a guy because she heard a masculine gasp), she swung her leg forward, hitting her limit, then swung it back down as fast as she could. Her leg colliding with someone's nether regions. A howl of pain rang out across the ship.
Tank twisted to find a man? He was man shaped but had a lions muzzle and eyes. Was it an animal devil fruit thing? Zone? No that doesn't sound right. Whatever! This creep touched her and she wasn't having it.
"Who the hell are you?" Luffy asked, already on the defensive. This stranger was way too close to Tani, and she attacked him, so he can't be good. The lion man groaned, before lifting himself back into a standing position. He didn't say anything, just looked at the pair before vanishing into thin air.
"Shit! He's an invisible man," Tani panicked. Turning towards the cupboard, she ran for it. Luffy was looking around rapidly, looking for any signs of the guys movements. "Flour! Paint! Literally anything!" she shrieked, a hand slapped around her mouth. Luffy noticed the squishing of her features and jumped into action.
He pounced at Tani, the hand over her mouth removed itself as the man shuffled backwards. Tani gasped for air, Luffy collided with her. It wasn't like when he ran into her though, this time it was controlled. He didn't knock her over, he simply grabbed hold of her. Not letting his grip ease.
"What's happening?!" Sanji shouted as he burst through the galley door. All he sees is Luffy holding onto a very shaken Tani.
"There's someone in here," Luffy informs, his voice taking on a serious tone. Eyes scanning for any motion. "He's invisible," Luffy clarified. Zoro and Franky joined behind Sanji, to see what the commotion was.
Tani couldn't hear his footsteps or breathing.
"I don't think he's in here anymore," Tani said cautiously. Only for her eyes to widen when Robin wasn't present behind them. "Where's Robin-"
*snap*
Yeah she's just fine.
The crew ran out to find her arms clutching around the man's body. Today was just not his day... Creepy bastard.
"What did he do to you?" Sanji asked angrily, Robin clutched her arms harder.
"He thought it would be appropriate to grope my chest and lick me," she said simply, the man whimpered under her hold. "His thought process was incorrect," she grinned.
"That weirdo grabbed Tani too," Luffy said with a glare, the murderous intent in his eyes was present. Sanji was already getting fired up... No literally, his leg was on fire.
"Who do you work for?" Zoro asked, a blade already pressed to the guys neck. The perv was starting to sweat with nerves, all that left him was a weak animalistic growl. Zoro growled louder, that shut the bastard down.
"Haraharahara~" came that ghostly laugh. The crew turned their attention towards the three ghosts that approached their ship. The invisible lion guy made his escape, he had a wedding to prepare for with that perfect red head.
"Hey it's that mystery ghost again," Luffy pointed. "It made more ghosts," he stated.
The ghosts floated down towards them, the creatures slicing across the air and gliding through each crew member, every effected person falling to the ground with a feeling of utter despair engulfing them.
"I shouldn't have been born,"
"In my next life, I'm going to come back as a sea cucumber,"
"I'm sorry I'm so worthless,"
"Nobody will ever love me,"
"Why am I still here? Just to suffer,"
"I want the world to swallow me whole, at least then I'll be useful as fertiliser,"
The group hunched over the ground, all muttering these negative thoughts out loud in an uncharacteristic fashion.
They were starting to sound like Usopp.
Luffy was the first to recover, followed by Franky, Robin, Zoro, Tani, then Sanji.
"We never speak of this," Zoro stated. Everyone nodded in agreement. What kind of power was that?
"Oh dear," Robin said, pointing towards the right side of the Sunny. "It appears we're been caught in a spiderweb," she pointed out, and true to her word. There was large, white strings that stuck to the side of the boat, holding her hostage like any other bug...
Tani turned to the other side of the boat, sprinted towards it and jumped off the side. She's not dealing with invisible perverts, depression ghosts, and a GIANT SPIDER! In one day. She would like to keep her hair from greying thank you.
She popped her head up from under the water, gathering her bearings before heading towards the closest piece of land she could find.
"Where are you going?" Zoro called out to her. She continued to swim towards that spot of land, well it was more like a really broken off piece of wall.
"Where there are no spiders!" Tani answered. Finally making it to land, she dragged herself out of the water and shook as the cold air hit her.
It didn't take long for the rest of the crew to follow her path, only they decided to go through the spider web, except Sanji. He followed Tani's example and swam over, because spiders are creepy as hell and he doesn't want to see them.
With the gang all here, it was time to explore the island-
"Kyahhhhhhhh!"
Everyone took on defensive poses, that scream was familiar.
"That was Nami," Sanji deducted. "If she's in danger, then so are the others," he stressed. Already making a run for the only way they could move.
The walls around the actual island were high, but there was a space for the crew to run around the borders. It's like the start of the labyrinth from 'Labyrinth'. Hopefully there weren't any trick doors.
...
"Should we? Should we stop him?" Tani asked, pointing at Luffy.
What was he doing?
He was currently barking at a three headed, zombie dog. Appropriately named Cerberus.
Why was Luffy barking at the zombie dog?
Because he wanted to tame it, so he's attempting to assert his dominance.
Tani watched in awe, as Luffy held out his hand for the dog to sniff. Instead of sniffing it, all three of the dogs heads bit down on him. Luffy remained calm, using a hand to pat one of the heads until they eased up.
He then punched all three heads as punishment, scolding them for their bad behaviour.
Wait... Zombie...
"Oh shit!" Tani panicked. Running behind Zoro, who looked at her with confusion. "Luffy got bitten by a zombie!" she wailed.
"Yeah? What's wrong with that?" Zoro questioned. Tani looked at him with a look he could only describe as the most deadpan "you should know this, it's common knowledge" look.
"If you're bitten by a zombie, you get infected with their zombie juices and turn into one! Luffy's gonna eat our brains," she cried. Zoro rolled his eyes at that.
"Is this one of your movie things?" he asked her. She gave a nod.
He smacked her upside the head, it was more like a tap but it was hard enough for her to snap back to reality.
"Those are fake stories, you said so yourself," he scolded. Tani pouted, rubbing at the sore spot on her head.
"Pea brain, don't hit a lady like that!" Sanji snarled at Zoro. The swordsman glared at Sanji.
"She was being hysterical, had to snap her out of it somehow," Zoro defended. Sanji wasn't having it.
"So you hit her? Neanderthal I say! And Tani at that, you know she's-"
"If you say weak and fragile, I'll slice you in half," Zoro sneered. Hands already on his swords handles. "That's an insult towards her, price of the dumbass kingdom," Zoro countered. Sanji floundered his words.
"You-I-How dare-I'm... Ugh! You brute, even if she was stronger than you. It's still a disgrace to your manhood to treat her in such a way," Sanji spat back.
"There you go again-"
"Hey guys look," Luffy called out. He was sitting atop the Cerberus with a big grin on his face. "Tamed him," he said happily.
Zoro and Sanji dropped the conversation, but the tension was there. Tani ducked her head in shame, she didn't mean to start the argument.
Zoro walked ahead, causing Sanji to mount the zombie dog with Luffy. Robin sat on the dog too, while Franky walked along side it. Tani decided to walk too, zombies understandably made her uncomfortable.
They made it to a set of stairs, they were steep but it's better than walking on a path of bones. Oh yeah, the ground was covered in skeletal remains! This island was terrifying.
The top of the stairs opened up to an expansive forest, draped in a thick fog that wouldn't look out of place in a Silent Hill game. Howls and monster like moans echoed through the twisty trees.
Tani could already tell that this island was going to be one hell of a nightmare... A thrilling one, but a nightmare none the less.

A/N:) HEY GUYS IM SO SORRY I HAVEN'T UPDATED IN LIKE A WEEK! There was a huge storm that cut the power off in the area where I work. Luckily my work place didn't lose power, but we had so many people come in for food, water, warmth and electricity. That I had no time to write. Plus I've been exhausted, so I really hope you all understand why I'm so late.
