Chapter 32

POV Seraphina

I led Jasper through the vast, open halls of the Shadowhunter headquarters until we stopped in front of a heavy, iron-bound door. "This is the training room," I said, opening the door. The air was charged with the sharp energy of practice, and I could hear the clashing of weapons and the rhythmic pounding of movements. The room was massive, with a high ceiling adorned with beams and training equipment for various methods of combat. The walls were covered with tactical plans and ancient weapons from past battles.

"I've spent countless hours here perfecting my skills," I explained, stepping inside and soaking in the familiar atmosphere.

Jasper followed behind me, looking around with interest. "There's something... majestic about this place," he remarked thoughtfully, letting his gaze sweep over the imposing weapons and the impressive training equipment. But then I heard footsteps approaching us.

"Seraphina!"

I turned quickly, already recognizing the voice, and saw Alex walking toward us with a broad grin on his face. He was a friendly but determined fighter, so it didn't surprise me that he was in charge of the new recruits. As soon as he saw me, he halted the training and his eyes lit up. "I hope you've settled in well and had a restful night?" he asked, striding toward me with quick steps.

"Alex," I replied, returning his smile. "I really can't complain. How are the new recruits faring?"

He grinned mischievously. "Oh, they're learning quickly, but they could still use a little more of your expertise." Then he turned to Jasper, who had been watching us from a distance. "Good to see you as well."

I noticed the slight shift in Jasper's posture as he picked up on Alex's casual tone. He wasn't thrilled about the interruption, but I could also tell he was trying to keep things relaxed. "Likewise," he replied evenly.

"Since you're here," Alex said, turning back to me with a playful gleam in his eyes, "how about a quick sparring match? I think it'd be a great opportunity for the recruits to see what real skill looks like." He held up a pair of weapons with a teasing smile. "It'll be quite the show, don't you think?"

Before I could respond, I heard Jasper grit his teeth behind me. "You're going to spar with him?" he asked, giving me a scrutinizing look.

I chuckled softly, turning to face him. "It's just training, Jas. Trust me, I can handle it."

But there was a faint furrow in his brow that betrayed his concern. "Make it quick and without too much drama," he murmured, though it sounded more like a well-meaning warning. "You'll take him down easily."

Alex took it in stride, laughing as he let the weapons clang lightly to the ground. "You're not going to go easy on me, are you, Sera?"

"Of course not," I replied with a sly grin, stepping toward him. "Let's see how much you've learned since last time."

Jasper watched us closely, standing just behind me, alert and ready to intervene if needed. The recruits, now gathered around the edges of the room, stared wide-eyed. It was clear that vampires weren't a common presence during these training sessions, and there was a hushed murmuring among the newcomers as they noticed the intense gleam in Jasper's eyes.

"Ready?" Alex asked, settling into his combat stance.

"Always," I quipped, diving into the fight.

The air in the room practically crackled with tension as Alex and I squared off. I could feel the recruits' eyes on us, forming a loose circle around the space. Everyone was waiting, knowing this wouldn't be just a casual match. It was a spectacle-Seraphina, the renowned Shadowhunter, facing Alex, one of the headquarters' best fighters. The stakes were clear.

I stretched briefly, letting my muscles prepare for the fight, and met Alex's gaze. "Ready to challenge me?" My tone was daring but filled with respect. Alex wasn't a novice; he was one of the best.

He grinned, and I saw the familiar glint of determination in his eyes. "I'm not going to hand you the win, Seraphina. Show me what you've got."

Without further words, he attacked. Lightning-fast, as I expected. The blades in his hands sliced through the air, forcing me into immediate motion. His first strike was precise, aimed straight at my torso. But I was ready. I dodged, spinning to the side with a fluid motion, as smooth as water. His strike missed, and I took the opportunity to pull back, creating space for my own offensive.

I stepped forward, swinging my blade. It clashed against his weapon, but he blocked it skillfully. Still, I didn't let up, springing to the side and delivering a precise kick to his stomach. He staggered but quickly recovered, his combat readiness unwavering. "Not bad-that's more than I expected," he admitted, his voice tinged with surprise.

"But you won't get away so easily," he added, launching another swift series of attacks. I could see his strategy-quick, targeted strikes meant to throw me off balance. But he underestimated my speed. I blocked, dodged, spun, and counterattacked with precision.

Each move flowed seamlessly into the next, each turn perfectly coordinated, as if my body were one with the fight. Alex couldn't keep up as I maneuvered behind him, then delivered a calculated kick to force him back a step. This time, I didn't pursue but gave him a moment to recover. But when he over-focused on his next move, I struck with a precise hand chop to his shoulder, exploiting his brief lapse in defense.

He grinned. "Not bad," he said, but I knew he wasn't done yet. I held my ground, knowing he still had more to give. And he did-this time coming at me with even greater speed and force, attempting to overwhelm me. But I was ready. I dodged, parried, spun, and countered with a clean, sharp strike that left him retreating.

He pushed back, trying to corner me. I didn't allow it. I shifted to the side and surged forward at full speed. At that moment, I knew the match was coming to an end. With one final, precise strike, I knocked his weapon aside, pulled back, and delivered a powerful kick to his stomach. I spun in a fluid motion, sending him to the ground with a decisive push.

Alex landed on his back, but instead of groaning, he chuckled softly. "You won, Seraphina," he said as he got up and brushed himself off. "That was an incredible fight."

I grinned, lowering my blade, and took a deep breath. "You fought well, Alex. But you know I don't let up."

I could feel the eyes of the recruits on me, barely able to hide their excitement. "Wow! That was incredible!" one of them shouted. Another whispered, "She just wiped the floor with him!" The enthusiasm was undeniable.

"And how fast she was! I've never seen such a fluid fight," said another recruit, admiring the elegance and precision of my movements.

"It's impressive how much control she had over the fight," someone else murmured, and I could see how they were all somewhat in awe of me.

I felt a pleasant sense of fulfillment rise within me as I sensed the admiration of the recruits. It wasn't just the victory that satisfied me, but the respect I had earned through this fight.

"That was a great fight, Seraphina," Alex said with a smile as he sheathed his blade and bowed respectfully. "I hope I didn't lose too much respect in your eyes."

"You didn't do too badly, Alex," I replied with a grin. "But you know how fast I am."

"I know," he laughed. "I'm looking forward to facing you again next time."

Jasper stepped up to me and proudly placed a hand on my shoulder. "You really knocked him out," he said with an approving smile.

I felt the warmth in his voice, and my heart skipped a beat. I knew he was proud of me, and that was all I needed.

The recruits were still full of excitement, exchanging animated comments. I could see the admiration in their eyes. They had witnessed an extraordinary fight - and I couldn't help but feel honored.

"That was really impressive," said one of the recruits, looking at me with wide eyes.

With one last glance at Alex, who gave me a respectful nod, I turned away from the recruits. I felt not only like a warrior but like someone who had earned their place here through hard work. And the man by my side knew that.

POV Jasper

I stood silently, watching Seraphina and Alex face each other in the training room. The air between them crackled with tension, and though I knew she was a skilled fighter, a part of me couldn't shake the worry. I wanted to step in if things went south, but I trusted her. She was stronger than most, and this wasn't just a test for her - it was for me too. It was the first time I had seen her in a direct duel, and as I watched, my emotions swirled between pride, concern, and admiration.

Alex made the first move, launching an attack, but Seraphina dodged so fluidly, so elegantly, it almost looked like a dance. It was the speed that struck me first - she was fast, impossibly fast, and it was that speed, that precision, which fascinated me. Her every movement was light, effortless even, but there was nothing uncalculated about it. She anticipated Alex's every move as if she knew exactly what he was going to do before he did. It was like she was two steps ahead.

I couldn't help but think, You're amazing. Watching her fight with such grace and ferocity filled me with admiration. She was unstoppable. She moved with a confidence and skill that left no room for doubt. Every move was a statement, and every strike, no matter how graceful, carried a power that was undeniable. But as proud as I was, I couldn't shake the fear that clung to me. Not because I didn't believe in her - quite the opposite - but because I knew how dangerous this world was. In this world of Shadowhunters, as little as I knew, even the strongest were vulnerable. And Seraphina was no exception.

Alex was fast, but Seraphina was faster. She leapt over him with the grace of a predator, landing behind him and driving him back with a swift kick. The recruits around us gasped in admiration. I could feel their respect for her already, even though the fight wasn't over. I had known all along she was the better fighter, but watching her in action, seeing her take control so decisively, was something else. My heart was in my throat as she launched another lightning-fast attack. Alex barely had time to react before she struck - a precise blow, a quick twist, and he was on the ground, defeated.

I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding. The fight was over. And Seraphina had won. There was no question about it. She had done it with elegance, speed, and without hesitation. Incredible, I thought, a smile tugging at my lips. Pride surged within me as I realized that once again, she had exceeded my expectations. She wasn't just strong - she was unstoppable. I'd seen it for myself now, and the truth was, I was in awe of her.

The recruits were murmuring around us, their faces filled with awe and respect. I could see it in their eyes - she hadn't just won the fight. She had earned their respect, something that would carry her far among them. They were already looking at her differently, with newfound admiration. She hadn't just fought - she had proven herself.

I moved closer, not wanting to interrupt as she spoke with Alex, but I couldn't help but feel a swelling sense of pride. She wasn't just a great fighter. She was a warrior. I had always known that, but seeing her in action, seeing how effortlessly she controlled the fight, was something else entirely.

"You really knocked him out," I said as I stood beside her, my voice filled with admiration. I could feel the relief in me, the pride, the joy. She was strong, she was unstoppable - and she was mine. That realization filled me with a warmth that I couldn't quite put into words. I had always known, deep down, that she was my soulmate. But watching her fight like that, seeing the depth of her power, made it even clearer.

"You did great," I added, my hand finding its place on her shoulder. It wasn't just a sign of admiration - it was a quiet gesture of pride. She had done more than fight; she had conquered, and I was with her every step of the way.

Seraphina smiled at me, a smile so confident it sent a warmth rushing through me. She was calm, composed, almost as if the fight had been nothing. But I knew better. That was her strength - not just in battles, but in how she handled everything. She had faced Alex, and she had done so with a grace that was uniquely hers.

"I hope I didn't push you too hard," I said with a mischievous grin, my admiration still clear in my eyes.

"I had to give him some time," she replied, a wink accompanying her words. "Or he would've looked too bad in front of the recruits." She was confident, but it was a calm self-assurance, one that set her apart from the rest. She was so much more than just a fighter.

I knew that this wasn't just another fight. It was another reminder of how extraordinary she was. It wasn't just the battle - it was how she handled everything, with grace, precision, and strength that never ceased to amaze me. She was everything I could have ever wanted in a partner. And the fact that she was by my side made me prouder than words could ever express.

"I'm glad to have you by my side," I said softly, my hand resting once more on her shoulder. "You're one of a kind."
