Shawn's Side {16}
***Shawn’s POV***
“Good luck,” Shane snickered as I pulled a shirt on.
“Shut up,” I whined and shoved him. I was going to meet Nina’s dad today, and I was a little afraid. A pretty girl’s dad could be one of the scariest things in the world.
“Shawn, it helps if you comb your hair,” Shane called as I began to leave.
I froze and groaned before going back into the room and looking in the mirror. I flipped off Shane as he grinned smugly and tossed me the comb. I fixed my hair quick before shooting him a glare and leaving the room.
I went outside and got in the car, miserably driving myself to Nina’s house. I pulled into the driveway and sighed.
“Okay Shawn. You can do this. If he has a gun, you pretend to have epilepsy. If he doesn’t have a gun, you just smile and nod,” I mumbled to myself before getting out of the car.
I went up and ran the doorbell, beyond relieved when Nina answered. She smiled apologetically before taking my hand and leading me into her living room.
“Dad, this is my boyfriend Shawn. Be nice to him,” Nina said with a sigh before shoving me into a chair and leaving the room.
“Hello Shawn. I’m Nina’s father, Rich,” he greeted.
“Hello Rich,” I said, feeling awkward.
“Now listen to me Shawn, I want you to be good to my daughter. And behave with her,” Rich said sternly.
I nearly laughed. That was all he wanted to say? “Don’t worry Rich, my dad already threatened me to be good,” I said. “Oh! Not that I’d misbehave with her anyways,” I added quickly, wanting to slap myself. Real smooth Shawn.
Rich nodded slowly to himself. “What else does your dad tell you not to do Shawn?” he asked.
Ah shit. “Uh…he tells me not to do anything Jesus wouldn’t approve of,” I said with a helpless shrug. My dad didn’t even believe in religion. “He also tells us not to do drugs or drink or anything.”
“How many siblings do you have?”
“Just one. A twin brother named Shane. He’s a few minutes younger than me,” I said.
“Are your parents together, Shawn?”
I nodded. “Yea. They’re married,” I said, hoping he didn’t ask me how old they were. I hated it when people judged my parents just because they had had me and my brother as teenagers. For teen parents, Shane and I could’ve done much, much worse.
“Dad, can you leave Shawn alone so we can hang out already?” Nina asked, coming into the room and rolling her eyes. “He’s not a bad kid, and he won’t do bad things. His dad would kill him if he did.”
I nodded in agreement and shuddered at the thought of what my dad would do if he ever caught me doing the things I did.
Rich sighed and stood up. “Okay, okay. You kids go have fun,” he said, rolling his eyes. “And behave!”
Nina winked at him before coming over and taking my hand in hers. She pulled me out of the front door and out to my car.
“Let’s get away from him before he starts actually threatening you,” she giggled, kissing me gently before getting in the car.
“Where do you want to go?” I asked curiously.
Nina shrugged. “Maybe just back to your house? I just don’t want my dad to start threatening you,” she said with a sigh.
I nodded and kissed her before driving back to my house. We got out and went inside and up to my room.
Shane looked up curiously as we entered. He was on the ground, playing Solitaire and listening to Tokio Hotel’s “Spring Nicht”.
“Hey,” he said in surprise. “You’re still a-alive.”
I rolled my eyes and kicked his hat off of his head. “Duh, you dork,” I said, sticking my tongue out at him as he pouted and reached for his hat.
I snatched it off the floor and put it on. “Shawn!” Shane whined, pouting deeper. I smirked and pulled Nina over to our beds.
We dropped on Shane’s and I kissed Nina deeply. She snatched the hat off my head and tossed it to Shane, kissing my cheek.
“If you’re going to steal his bed, the least you can do is giving him his hat back,” she said and grinned.
“You make it sound like I’m going to do something dirty on his bed,” I said, kissing her and tightening my hold on her.
“Not on my bed you d-don’t!” Shane said, glaring at me. “Use your own bed for that sh-shit.”
“Silly little brother. I wouldn’t do that with you in the room!” I said and stuck my tongue out at him again. He rolled his eyes and turned back to his game of Solitaire.
I ran my hand through Nina’s soft hair and smiled. “I love you,” I whispered and kissed her gently.
“I love you too Shawn. We should go to the concert that’s in town tomorrow. I think it would be a fun date,” she said with a small smile.
I nodded in agreement and hugged her to me. “Yea, it’ll be fun!” I said eagerly, now excited for tomorrow’s date with Nina.
