A/n: By the way, this photo has nothing to do with the imagine, but I really love the photo, so yeah, I decided to put it in here. Anyways, please enjoy this imagine. Okay, without further ado, let's begin!
I was being selfish, wasn't I? My fiancé, the singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes, and I were having a party at our house. Shawn had finished up his world tour, so now him and I could sit down and really plan the wedding. But right now, our house is full of people so we can celebrate him finishing another amazing world tour. I wanted him to myself though, but that wasn't going to happen. Not right now anyways. Right now he was on the other side of the room, talking to Cez.
I sighed and stepped outside and onto our back deck even though it was cold out. I went down the stairs and walked around our backyard. To say that I had missed Shawn a lot while he was on tour was an understatement. I got one of the Boston themed Adirondack chairs that Shawn had bought me as a surprise and brought it to the very back of the backyard, where our garden is. I felt clingy for him, which made me feel bad. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair, frustrated with myself.
"What are you doing out here pretty girl?" Shawn asked. I jumped, I hadn't heard him come out. I looked and he was carrying the other Boston themed Adirondack chair so it would be closer to mine.
"I didn't hear you come out." I said, avoiding his question. He may be the king of avoiding questions, but I'm the queen of it.
"Sorry baby. You didn't answer my question though. What are you doing out here honey?" He asked as he sat down next to me. He reached his hand out for mine, but I didn't take it. I was afraid that if I held onto his hand I wouldn't want to let go. So, instead of holding his hand, I brought my knees to my chest and wrapped my arms around my knees.
"I feel like I'm being selfish." I said. He tapped his hand on the arm of my chair.
"Two things. One: Hold my hand. Two: how are you being selfish honey?" He asked. I sighed.
"No, I can't hold your hand." I said.
"Why not babe?" He asked.
"Because if I start to hold your hand, I'm never going to want to let go." I said. I heard Shawn chuckle.
"Oh honey, that's okay. You don't have to let go of my hand." He said.
"Yes I do. We have a whole damn party going on inside, the house is filled with people, we're bound to get separated at some point." I said.
"Nope, we're not. Sweetie, I want to hold my fiancé's hand. Please babe?" He asked. I nodded.
"Okay." I said as I interlaced our fingers together. I immediately felt electricity spark through me, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time. Shawn squeezed my hand and then kissed the back of my hand.
"I love this hand. I'm going to marry this hand." He said. I giggled and looked at him.
"You love my hand and you're going to marry it?" I asked. He kissed my hand again and smiled as he nodded at me. He had a look of pure love on his face.
"Yup. I love everything about you and because I'm marrying you, that means that I'm marrying every part of you. Baby come here, come sit on my lap." Shawn said. I got up and sat sideways in his lap. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and he wrapped his arms around my waist. I let my fingers tangle in his hair.
"We should probably go back inside my love." I said before kissing Shawn's temple. When I looked at him, he had his eyes closed. He hummed in contentment, happiness, and satisfaction.
"Call me your love again." He said with a smile. I smiled and rubbed his shoulder with one hand. I placed three gentle and loving kisses on his temple before resting my forehead there and closing my eyes.
"You're my love. You're my sweetest and dearest love." I said. Shawn rubbed my sides and I sighed, not wanting this moment to end, but knowing that we should probably go back to our party inside our house.
"Baby?" He asked.
"Hmmm?" I responded.
"Promise me something." He requested.
"Anything." I said as I looked at him. He looked at me and I saw tears form in his eyes as he held me closer to him. I put my hand, the one that had my engagement ring on it, on his cheek.
"Promise me that once we're married, that's it. I don't want anyone else but you Y/n. Promise me that you'll always be my wife." He said as a tear fell onto his cheek. I wiped it away with the pad of my thumb.
"I promise you that I'll always be your wife. I'll promise you anything Shawn. You're the only one I want. I don't want anyone else, I just want you." I said. He nodded.
"Thank you." He said, his voice sounding like a whisper.
"Where's this coming from my love?" I asked.
"I just... I love you so much, you know? You're my everything, and I never want to be without you." He said. I kissed his cheek.
"I love you so much too. We're never going to be without each other, I promise." I said. Shawn nodded and then patted my sides.
"We should probably go back inside." Shawn said. I nodded and got off his lap and we both stood up.
"Come here honey, let me wipe your tears away. No tears my sweet man, I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere." I said. Shawn nodded as I wiped his tears away.
"521 more days until you're my wife." He said. I nodded.
"Yup. And we're celebrating our three year anniversary tomorrow, right?" I asked. Shawn nodded.
"Yeah. I love you darling." He said. I smiled and interlaced our fingers.
"I love you too handsome." I said. Shawn and I turned to head inside but stopped and laughed.
"What are you guys doing?" Shawn yelled as he laughed. Him and I walked towards Josiah Van Dien, Shawn's tour photographer, and Andrew Gertler, his manager. Josiah had his camera out.
"Well we didn't know where you guys went, and then you guys were being really cute, so I started to take photos of the cuteness. How many days until the wedding?" Josiah said and asked.
"521." Shawn said with a smile.
"You guys are so cute." Josiah said. I smiled at Shawn, who was already smiling at me.
"She's the cuter one." Shawn said and I giggled as I blushed. We all then went inside.
"Where did you guys go?" Cez asked. Shawn was still holding my hand.
"Well I didn't know where my girl went, so I had to go find her. Turns out that she was in the back of the backyard." Shawn said. Cez nodded.
"Are you guys okay?" Cez asked. We nodded.
"Yeah. We just kind of had a peaceful and quiet moment together." I said. Cez nodded and then went to talk to someone else. I leaned into Shawn, who then kissed the top of my head. I looked up at him and smiled, happy beyond words that I get to marry this man.
"I want you glued to my side for the rest of the night. I've missed you so much baby." Shawn said. I rubbed his back a little bit.
"I missed you too babe. How about I stay glued to your side for the rest of our lives?" I asked with a smile. Shawn smiled back and nodded.
"I like the sound of that." He said. He then put his lips on mine. I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, and I felt sparks shoot through me like fireworks. Shawn pulled away and kissed my forehead. My eyes fluttered shut at the feeling of his warm lips on my forehead. He then smiled at me.
"I've missed your forehead kisses." I said.
"I've missed your kisses on my chin or jaw since you're too short to reach my forehead." Shawn said.
"Hey! I'm not short." I said. Shawn wrapped both of his strong, muscular arms around my shoulders and I wrapped my arms around his waist.
"Oh really? What are you then?" He asked.
"I'm fun sized." I said. Shawn threw his head back with laughter and then smiled at me as he pulled me closer to him. I could hear the clicking of a camera, but I ignored it.
"You're so cute baby. I love you." Shawn said before kissing me.
"I love you too." I said. Shawn smiled and then kissed my cheek gently and lovingly and slowly. I closed my eyes and smiled as I rubbed his back.
"You're my baby." He whispered in my ear before kissing my cheek again.
"That's what I'll always be." I said. Shawn pulled his lips away from my cheek and smiled at me.
"Yeah?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. I'll be your baby forever and always." I said. He smiled and kissed me again. I smiled into the kiss.
"I've missed kissing you." He said.
"I've missed kissing you too, and, come here." I said before waving for him to lean down so I could whisper in his ear.
"What's up babe?" He asked. I put my lips to his ear and then used my hand to cover my mouth so no one could read my lips or anything. By now, Shawn's arms had moved to my waist and my arms had moved to his shoulders.
"I've missed doing other things with you too." I whispered. Shawn chuckled and held me closer to him as he buried his face in my neck. I laughed and wrapped my arms around his shoulders.
"You don't know how much I've missed doing things to you." He whispered. I giggled but then stopped. Andrew was coming towards us and he didn't look too happy. Sometimes he seems so happy that Shawn and I found each other, but at other times, not so much. He once told me that I'm a liability and a distraction to Shawn, but once Shawn heard about that, he put a stop to that real quick.
"What the hell guys?" Andrew asked as he came up to us. Shawn and I pulled away from each other and looked at him.
"What?" Shawn asked. Andrew looked at me.
"Y/n, could you stop clinging to Shawn and let him talk to other people. You're so clingy." Andrew said.
"Are you serious? I asked her to stick by my side for the rest of the night. She's my fiancé and I haven't seen her in a while." Shawn asked and said.
"Well you guys have the rest of your lives to see each other. Y/n, please just give Shawn some space for the rest of the night." Andrew said. I began to step away from Shawn, but Shawn tightened his grip on my waist.
"If I wanted space from her, then I would ask her to give me space, but I don't want space from her. I'm the one that's in control of who I do and do not want around me, and I want Y/n around me." Shawn said. I placed my hand on his chest and he looked at me.
"It's okay bubs. I don't really like big parties anyways, I'll just go upstairs and read a book or something." I said. Shawn shook his head.
"No. Please don't listen to what Andrew said -" Shawn started.
"Shawn, if the girl wants to go, let the girl go." Andrew said. Shawn looked at him.
"The girl has a name." Shawn said. I wriggled out of his grip and he looked at me. His eyes looked upset and worried.
"It's okay. I'll just be upstairs." I said. He sighed and nodded.
"Okay." He said.
"I love you." I said.
"I love you too." He said. I then went upstairs to mine and Shawn's bedroom. Two people were sitting on our bed, making out.
"Are you kidding me?" I asked. They looked at me.
"Oh sorry Y/n, we just -" The guy started.
"This is mine and Shawn's bedroom. Guests aren't even supposed to be up here. Wait, I shut the bedroom door when the party started. Did you guys come up here and open up our bedroom door and start making out on our bed?" I asked. They sighed and nodded.
"Yeah." They said.
"If I hadn't come in here when I did, would you guys have gone further than making out?" I asked. They looked at each other, then back at me, and nodded.
"Yeah. Could we borrow one of your guest bedrooms actually?" The guy asked as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"No! This party is to celebrate the end of Shawn's amazing world tour, it is not for people to have sex." I said.
"Should we leave?" The girl asked.
"Mine and Shawn's bedroom and the upstairs where guests aren't supposed to be right now? Yes." I said. They nodded and left the room. I shut the bedroom door. I wanted to lock it, but if Shawn came upstairs and wanted to come in, then he would be locked out. I left it unlocked and sat on the bed.
The other side of the bed was empty because Shawn was downstairs. I closed my eyes. There had been so many nights while Shawn was on tour that I struggled to fall asleep because I wasn't in his arms. I always sleep better in his arms. The bed would get too cold without him, or it would feel too empty. Some nights I ended up sleeping at my mom's house in my old bed which was smaller. That way, I didn't have to look at the empty side of the bed that was cold.
I opened my eyes again. Was I being clingy for wanting to be by my fiancé's side after not seeing him in so long? There was a part of me that wanted to go downstairs and spend time with Shawn, but he had people to talk to. I sighed and got out a binder that had wedding plans in it. Shawn and I had written down some of the things that we wanted, and I had printed out some pictures of some wedding dresses that I liked. There was a knock at the door.
"Come in!" I yelled. Teddy Geiger walked in. I smiled at her.
"Hey. You okay?" She asked. I told her about what had happened with Andrew as she sat on the bed with me.
"It's just that, I haven't seen him in months. And so many of the people here have been seeing him constantly. Shawn had told me when we were outside and it was just the two of us that he wanted me to stick by his side for the rest of the night and he told me that again when we came inside before Andrew came up to us. And then I came up here and people were making out on our bed." I said. Her eyes widened and I told her more about that.
"Who was it?" She asked, so I told her.
"I just... I've missed Shawn, you know? It's so hard to be away from each other, and we've had to put planning the wedding on hold because of tour. That's what this binder is, it has wedding stuff in it. I even put pictures of dresses that I like in it." I said.
"Really?" She asked. I nodded.
"Yeah." I said.
"Mind if I see the dresses?" She asked. I shook my head.
"No that's fine. I'll show you my favorite one first." I said as I flipped to the pictures of the wedding dresses. Her eyes widened.
"Oh my gosh Y/n, Shawn would love that. I love the flowers on it." She said. I nodded.
"Me too." I said. I pointed out to her some of the things that I didn't like about the dress, and she nodded.
"But you could always have that changed, right?" She asked. I nodded.
"Yeah, I think so. Do you want to see a part of the binder that I haven't shown to Shawn?" I asked. She nodded.
"Sure!" She said. I smiled and flipped to the back of the binder.
"I really want to pick out his tie, and maybe get a tie clip with our wedding date engraved on it. These are just some pictures of some of the ties that I like. They're all floral because I really want it to go with my dress, and I want my dress to have at least a little bit of a floral print. Do you think that Shawn would like them?" I asked.
"Does Teddy think that I would like what?" Shawn asked as he walked into the bedroom. I shut the binder.
"No, no, no, you can't see that." I said.
"What is it babe? It looked like a tie." Shawn asked and said as he tried to reach for the binder.
"You saw that?" I asked. He nodded.
"Yeah, it was a tie. Why can't I see it honey?" Shawn asked. This had all been too much. The party, the fact that I had already felt like I was being clingy, and then Andrew basically confirming that, the people making out on mine and Shawn's bed, and now Shawn seeing what I had wanted to surprise him with for our wedding. Tears fell onto my cheeks.
"It was supposed to be a surprise for you." I said in what sounded like a whisper.
"I'll leave you guys alone." Teddy said as she left the room. Shawn and I nodded. Shawn sat down next to me, and I felt bad when I saw that he looked worried. He began to wipe my tears away.
"I'm sorry, I'm just overwhelmed. It's like, I went from constantly being the only one in the house to being in a house full of people. And that tie, it was supposed to be a surprise. Well, a tie was supposed to be a surprise. I wanted to pick out your tie for our wedding day, so I had printed out some pictures of some ties and put them in the back of the binder so you wouldn't see them." I said. Shawn kissed my cheek.
"It's okay baby girl." He said. I hiccuped from crying.
"I, um, actually we probably shouldn't talk about this right now. We can talk about the wedding tomorrow, you should head back downstairs to the party." I said as I looked at the binder.
"No, what is it babe?" He asked. I looked at him.
"Well, I have some ideas for my wedding dress, and um, I was thinking about the fact that you and I love flowers, so I thought that it would be really cool to have some type of floral pattern on my dress." I said. Shawn smiled.
"Oh darling, I think that that would be wonderful." He said. I slowly stopped crying and smiled.
"Um, I was also thinking that, if I get a dress with a floral print, which is what I really want, I could get you a tie that has a floral print on it. I printed out some photos of some of the ties that I thought were nice." I said.
"Can I see them?" He asked.
"But it's supposed to be a surprise." I said.
"I know, but you haven't picked out the tie yet, right?" He asked.
"Right." I said.
"I won't point at a tie and say which one I want, I'll let you decide, and I'll love whatever tie you choose, I just want to see what you have in mind." He said. I nodded and opened up the binder to the pictures of the tie.
"These are the ties." I said as I handed him the binder. He smiled as he looked at them. I scooted closer to him and put my head on his shoulder but then looked up at him, trying to see his reaction to each one. I could tell that he wasn't a big fan of the last one, and to be honest, neither was I. But he smiled when he looked at me.
"I love them baby. You have great taste. I don't want to say which ones I liked more than the others, I want it to be a surprise, but I loved them." He said. I smiled.
"I'm glad. I could tell that you didn't really like that last one." I said. He chuckled and kissed my forehead.
"I love you baby. I can't wait until you're my wife." He said. I smiled at him.
"I love you too and I can't wait until you're my husband. I'm tired." I said before yawning.
"Well I think that people are starting to head out, so when everyone's gone I'll come up to bed." He said. I nodded.
"Okay. Do you want me to wait up for you?" I asked. He shook his head.
"No. Sleep my love." He said. I nodded, put the binder away, and laid down under the blankets.
"I love you Shawn. Good night." I said. He leaned over and placed a few kisses on my temple. I smiled.
"I love you too Y/n. Good night." He said. He left the room, shut the door, and I fell asleep.
The next day
I woke up in Shawn's arms. He was already smiling at me, and I smiled back as I scooted closer to him.
"Good morning handsome. Happy anniversary." I said.
"Good morning gorgeous. Happy anniversary." He said. He placed a loving kiss on my lips and I couldn't help but smile, which caused him to smile. We pulled away.
"What are we doing today?" I asked. He held me close to him and brushed some stray hair out of my face and tucked it behind my ears.
"How about we talk about wedding plans?" He asked. I smiled and nodded.
"Okay. Pancakes?" I said. He nodded.
"Of course, come on baby." He said. We got up and held hands as we went downstairs. I stood behind him as he made the pancakes, my arms wrapped around his waist.
"I've missed mornings like this." I said.
"Me too darling." He said.
"I love you a lot. I hope you know that and I hope that you never forget that." I said. Shawn played with my engagement ring for a moment.
"I love you a lot too, and I hope that you know that and never forget that either." He said. I closed my eyes.
"I'll never forget your love for me babe." I said.
"Good." He said. We soon sat down to eat.
"Would it be okay to post something on Instagram about our anniversary?" I asked Shawn. He nodded.
"Of course it is babe. Do you mind if I post something too?" He asked. I shook my head.
"No, that's fine." I said. He smiled. We ate our breakfast, took a selfie that showed my engagement ring, and sat on the couch, our legs tangled together as we made our posts. I got a notification that he had posted on Instagram and I smiled when I saw that he had picked our first picture as boyfriend and girlfriend, a picture from our first date since we had started dating - we had gone to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston - and the selfie that we had just taken. I read the caption.
"Three years ago today I showed up at Y/n's front door with a bouquet of pink tulips, and when we sat down alone together, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and she said yes. I fall for Y/n more and more every single day. I remember, on our one year anniversary, she asked me to promise her that we would always celebrate today, even when we're married. I told her 'We will always celebrate today. Today marks an amazing day in our lives and we're never going to forget it.' and I've kept that promise. How are we celebrating our anniversary today? By working on wedding plans. Happy three year anniversary to my best friend and soon to be (520 days!!!) wife." Shawn wrote. I smiled at him.
"I love it." I said. He smiled at me.
"Good, I'm glad." He said. I posted our first picture together as boyfriend and girlfriend, and the selfie that we had just taken.
"Three years of nothing but happiness, love, joy, smiles, kisses, cuddles, hugs, and laughter with my best friend. On our one year anniversary Shawn promised me that we would always celebrate today, the day that we started dating, and he's always kept that promise. Today we're celebrating it by working on plans for our wedding! Shawn, happy anniversary. You're my best friend, the love of my life, my life partner, my soulmate, my everything. We've come so far in the past three years and I can't wait to see how far we'll go in the future. I love you bubs!" I captioned it. Shawn smiled.
"I love it babe." He said. I gave him a kiss.
"I love you." I said.
"I love you too." He said. We then talked more about the wedding, and that night Shawn took me out to dinner. I love him so much.
