87. "What Goes Through Your Mind?"
I sat on the couch in the living room with my husband of a month and a half, Shawn Mendes. I was cuddled up to him so my head was on his chest as we watched something on Netflix. I sat up, paused the television, and moved myself so my head was in Shawn's lap. He smiled at me and immediately began to run his fingers through my hair.
"What's up Mrs. Mendes?" He asked.
"What goes through your mind?" I asked.
"Do you mean just in general? Because a lot of stuff goes through my mind." Shawn asked and said. I shook my head and giggled.
"No. What goes through your mind when you hear my name?" I asked. His smile widened. He kept one hand massaging my scalp, and the other hand rubbed my cheek.
"Oh, my sweet wife, so many things go through my head." He said.
"Like what?" I asked. He took one of his hands, gently grabbed my hand - the one that has my wedding ring on it - and closed his eyes as he kissed my hand. He then let go of my hand and went back to rubbing my cheek. His smile was tender and loving.
"Well, when I hear your name, I instantly smile and picture you. I think about the fact that I'm married to you, and that you're my best friend. You know me better than anyone else does, and I know you better than anyone else does. I think of our amazing wedding day and our amazing honeymoon. I think about when we met for the first time. I'm pretty sure that my first words to you were 'I'm sorry what? You have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.'" He said.
"Yup, those were your first words to me. That was your response when I asked you for a picture." I said. He nodded.
"Yup." He said.
"Do you ever think about how far we've come?" I asked. He nodded.
"Yeah. That's another thing that I think about when I hear your name. We went from being total strangers who met in Dunkin Donuts to married and planning a future together." He said. I nodded.
"Yeah. Are there any days that you wish you could go back to? Like, if you could hit rewind on our relationship and just watch old memories happen, what memories would they be?" I asked.
"Our wedding day - and we can't forget about the fact that I took your virginity that night." He said. I laughed.
"Nope, we're never going to forget that." I said.
"I think that I would also go back to the day that we met, and when we had our first kiss, and when I asked you to be my girlfriend. I think that I would want to go back to when I ate you out for the first time." Shawn said with a wink. I blushed and giggled. I then sat up and sat on his lap.
"Do you want to know something hubby?" I asked as we wrapped our arms around each other.
"Of course wifey." He said.
"Those are all of the days that I would want to go back and watch too." I said. Shawn smiled and put his lips on mine. I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, and I felt sparks shoot through me like fireworks. Shawn pulled away and smiled at me.
"Want to go upstairs and make love?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yes!" I said. Shawn laughed and carried me upstairs and we made love. I love Shawn so much.
