58. Six Month Anniversary
A/n: Okay so the pictures of the couples at the end are the pictures that Y/n and Shawn posted, the picture above is what Y/n wore that day for their whole date day and night, and the other pictures at the end are what Shawn gave to Y/n for gifts and what Y/n gave Shawn for gifts. The picture of Shawn at the end is what he wore for date night. Also, mentions of smut but it doesn't go into detail. Anyways, please enjoy this imagine. Okay, without further ado, let's begin!
I woke up on June 22, 2020, to an empty bed. That surprised me. I was staying with my boyfriend of now six months, the singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes, at his place in Toronto for the summer. Today marks six months - half a year - since Shawn showed up at my doorstep with a bouquet of pink tulips and asked me to be his girlfriend.
I got out of bed and wandered down the hall. Where was Shawn? I wandered into the kitchen, and there he was. His back was to me, and he was shirtless, giving me a perfect view of his beautiful back muscles. I leaned against the doorframe. He was doing something at the stove and I smiled as I thought about how in love I am with him.
"I should make her some coffee too." Shawn whispered to himself.
"I can make myself some coffee." I said. Shawn jumped and then turned around and smiled at me.
"Good morning beautiful. You scared me." He said as he opened his arms up for me to come into. I smiled and walked into his arms.
"Good morning handsome. I'm sorry baby, I didn't mean to scare you." I said.
"It's okay honey. I'm making some pancakes." Shawn said. I smiled.
"It smells and looks great baby. Do you need help with anything?" I asked.
"Nope, not even your coffee. I know how you like your coffee, so I'll make it honey. You go sit your cute and perfect bum down on the couch and wait for me, okay honey?" He asked. I nodded and kissed his jaw.
"Okay. I love you." I said.
"I love you too darling." He said with a smile.
"Nice butt, by the way." I said as I went towards the couch. He laughed. Did he remember what today was? Or had he forgotten that it was our six month anniversary? Should I say something to him? No, I'll let it be. Soon, he came into the room carrying a tray. I smiled. He had put the pancakes and the coffee on the tray.
"Here you go baby girl." He said as he handed the tray to me.
"Thank you baby boy." I said.
"You're welcome." He said. He then put his hands on his hips and looked at me with so much love in his eyes that I could've sworn my heart was going to burst.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked as I began to blush.
"Six months with the most amazing girl in the world. Happy six month anniversary, my sweet girl." Shawn said. My smile widened. He didn't forget!
"Happy six month anniversary my sweet man. Can you believe it? We've been together for half a year." I said. He nodded.
"I know and it's been the best half a year of my life. I'm just going to go put a shirt on and grab my food and then I'll be back." Shawn said.
"If you could stay shirtless that would be absolutely wonderful." I said. Shawn laughed.
"Like what you see babe?" He asked. I put the tray aside, stood up, and let my hands roam around his abs, his chest, his shoulders, and his arms. I could feel his eyes on my face as I did this. I finally looked up at him.
"Yeah. I like what I see a lot. I hope that, even though I'm dressed in pajamas, you like what you see." I said. Shawn put both hands on my face and kissed me. I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt sparks shoot through my body like fireworks, and I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy. He soon pulled away and nudged my nose with his gently.
"I love what I see, even though you're dressed in pajamas. You look beautiful honey." Shawn said. I smiled.
"Thank you. What are we doing today?" I asked.
"Well, I was thinking that we could go to a park that I've never taken you to before, and then we'll come back here and relax, and then we can go out and have dinner tonight. How does that sound?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"That sounds good baby." I said. As I turned around to walk back over to the couch, Shawn lightly smacked my butt.
"I love that butt. It's my favorite butt." Shawn said. I laughed and blushed.
"Well your butt is my favorite butt." I said.
"Yeah?" Shawn asked as he grabbed his pancakes and tea and then came back into the living room and sat down next to me, his tray in his lap and my tray in my lap.
"Yeah. Hey, nice bum, where ya from?" I teased. He chuckled.
"Pickering, Ontario, Canada." He said and I laughed.
"I'm excited for today honey." I said.
"Me too. Do you mind if, after we eat but before we get dressed, I post something about our six month anniversary?" Shawn asked. He's so thoughtful and sweet and considerate.
"That's fine, my love. Do you mind if I post something as well?" I asked.
"Not at all babe." Shawn said. We soon finished our breakfast.
"Delicious babe." I said. Shawn smiled.
"Thanks honey. Actually, you stay right there, I have to go get something." Shawn said. I nodded.
"Okay." I said. He ran into his bedroom and shut the door. I felt confused, but oh well. It's Shawn, he loves surprises. He soon came back in the room with some clothes. Huh? He handed them to me and smiled that charming smile at me.
"Wear this for our date today and tonight. Also, I have the perfect accessory to go with the outfit." Shawn said.
"Wait, what?" I asked, but Shawn was already sprinting back into his bedroom. He came back out with a bag and handed it to me.
"I couldn't decide on just one, so I bought you three." He said. I looked into the bag and there were three boxes. I took out one of the boxes and opened it up and gasped. It was a necklace with a heart. It said "LOVE" at the top of the card and then at the bottom of the card it said "make a wish and put on your necklace. You make my heart so happy. Wear your necklace as a reminder that I love you!"
"Oh Shawn, it's beautiful." I said.
"So it's just like you?" He asked. I blushed.
"Oh my gosh." I said. Shawn laughed.
"Look at the other boxes honey." Shawn said. I opened up the next box and my eyes widened. It was a rose quartz necklace, and at the bottom of the card it said "STONE OF LOVE. A token of unconditional love. Wear it to promote compassion, appreciation of self, and calming energies."
"I love it. Oh my gosh is there another box?" I asked.
"Yup." Shawn said with a chuckle. I opened it up. It was a beautiful necklace that said "For: my love. You are every lovely word I can possibly think of."
"Thank you so much Shawn. They're all so beautiful." I said as tears formed in my eyes, but Shawn hadn't noticed the tears yet.
"You're welcome my love. I couldn't decide on just one, so I went with all of them." He said. I tried to hide the tears.
"Which one should I wear today?" I asked. Shawn looked at them.
"Um, how about the rose quartz necklace?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"Will you help put it on me please?" I asked as my voice shook a little bit.
"Are you crying babe?" Shawn asked. I finally let some of the tears fall as I nodded.
"Yeah." I said as I began to wipe them away. Shawn moved so he was squatting down in front of me. He had a look of worry and panic on his face.
"Why honey?" He asked.
"You're just... so amazing in every way and you got me a whole outfit and these beautiful necklaces and planned a whole day for us. No one, besides my family, has ever treated me like you do, and even that's not the same because that isn't romantically. I feel, I don't know how to describe it. I'm sorry." I said. Shawn took my hands in his. As our skin touched I felt electricity spark through me, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time.
"That's okay honey. Take your time. Just say what you're thinking and we'll go from there." He said. I nodded and paused. I then squeezed his hands a little and he squeezed back.
"I feel kind of overwhelmed with love. I love you so damn much and you always tell me that you love me so damn much as well. I'm the luckiest girl in the world because of you. I love you Shawn." I said. Shawn smiled and wiped my tears away with the pads of his thumbs.
"Well I'm the luckiest man in the world because of you. I love you too Y/n." Shawn said.
"I'll be right back." I said. Shawn nodded and moved so he was sitting on the couch.
"Okay." He said. I brought the necklaces and the outfit into his bedroom, put them on the bed, and then grabbed my presents for him. I went back into the living room. By now I had stopped crying. I sat down next to him and kissed his cheek.
"Here you go babe, this is one of your presents." I said as I handed him a box. He smiled as he took it from me. I really hope that he likes it. His eyes, and his smile, widened when he saw the gift. It was a custom candle from Yankee Candles with a picture of us on it. It said "you light up my world."
"Oh my gosh honey, this is beautiful. I love it. Thank you so much." He said. He then gave me a kiss.
"You're welcome. I glad that you love it. I also got you another gift, but I want to explain this one a little bit before I give it to you." I said.
"Okay." Shawn said.
"I know that you've done live streams while driving, and you've snapchatted or posted boomerangs on Instagram while driving before, and it scares me when you do that. I don't want to see you get hurt baby. This gift is just a little reminder of what I just said." I said as I handed him the little box. He opened it up and smiled. It was a key chain that said "Drive safe, I need you here with me." and had a little heart on it.
"I love it honey. Where are my keys? I'll put this on my keys right now." Shawn said as he got up.
"Are you sure that you like it?" I asked as I watched him grab his keys and sit back down. He looked at me, confusion etched across his handsome face.
"Of course I'm sure. Why do you ask that sweetie?" He asked.
"I just, I don't know. It just scares me when you snapchat and drive and do stuff on your phone while you're driving. I don't want to see you get into a car accident and get hurt Shawn. I can't, I can't do that." I said. Shawn put the key chain and his keys aside and pulled me in for a hug as I began to cry. He stroked the back of my head.
"Shhh darling, it's okay, I'm right here. I'm right here and I'm safe baby. I won't do stuff on my phone while driving anymore, okay? Would that make you feel better?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. Sorry that I just got so worked up. I just can't lose you." I said.
"Hey look at me pretty girl." Shawn said. I was still crying a bit, but I looked up at him. He stroked my cheek with his thumb gently. "It's okay. You're not going to lose me, and I won't do it anymore."
"Promise?" I asked. He nodded.
"I promise baby." He said. I calmed down and placed a gentle and loving kiss on his lips. He then began to put the key chain on his keys while still having my head on his chest.
"Sorry that I've already cried twice today." I said as I watched him put the key chain on.
"It's okay darling. Don't worry about it." Shawn said. He finally got the key chain on and I smiled.
"Do you like having it there?" I asked. Shawn kissed the top of my head.
"Absolutely. And you know what babe?" He asked as he set his keys aside. I moved so I was sitting on his lap.
"What?" I asked.
"When you're not here, I'm going to light the candle and play the piano and think about you." Shawn said.
"Oh my gosh you're the sweetest. Did you notice what scent it is?" I asked. He shook his head and then picked up the candle.
"No. Okay, it says butter cream." Shawn said. I nodded.
"I was hoping that they would have French Vanilla but they didn't, and that made me sad. But this one has some vanilla bean, so that's close enough, right babe?" I asked. Shawn laughed.
"Right. Should we make our posts now?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. Do you want to post first?" I asked.
"I always post first." Shawn said as I got off his lap so I could find my phone. I grabbed it and sat back down.
"Oh well. I still need to figure out which picture to post anyways." I said. Shawn chuckled and shook his head. I found the photo that I wanted to post. It was when we were in Boston not too long ago. Shawn was dipping me as we kissed, and I was laughing in the picture. As Shawn wrote his caption, I moved so I was laying down on the couch and my feet were in Shawn's lap. I got a notification that he had posted. I went to Instagram and smiled. The picture had been taken in my bedroom mirror. You could barely see either of our faces, but you could see Shawn's arms wrapped around me. I read the caption.
"Six months ago today I asked Y/n to be my girlfriend and she said yes. In the six months that we've been dating, and the ten months since we met, I haven't stopped falling for her. She never ceases to amaze me with everything that she does. Yes she's beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, and breathtaking, but she's also smart, funny, loving, sweet, kind, nice, the list goes on and on.
"I know that she loves quotes, so I decided to put one in here: 'You didn't have to do anything to make me fall for you. I didn't fall for you because of what you could or couldn't do for me. I fell for you simply because you were unapologetically yourself. I fell for your beautiful soul and big heart. I love you for everything that you are and everything that you're not. You're so perfectly flawed, but also perfectly you.' - Unknown.
"My sweet girl, I love you so much. Happy six month anniversary my love. Here's to many more." Shawn wrote.
"Oh my gosh that's beautiful and I love it." I said. Shawn smiled.
"I'm glad that you love it. Are you going to make your post now?" Shawn asked. I nodded and then began my post. I wrote the caption.
"Six months ago today Shawn texted me and asked for my address. I gave it to him, and a few hours later, he was on my front doorstep with a bouquet of pink tulips. He came in and asked me to be his girlfriend, and I said yes. Shawn, you've made me happier than I've ever been in my whole life and I can't thank you enough for that. You're not just my boyfriend, you're my best friend and my whole world and I love you more than words will ever be able to describe. You shower me with your love and affection, and the gifts that you got me are beautiful.
"I found a quote that's fitting to how I feel about you: 'I love you. I don't mean I love you like the way I love my coffee with two sugars or the way I love an extra ten minutes of sleep on a Monday morning or the way I love soup on a cold day. I love you in a way I've never loved anyone before. I love you in a way that consumes me.' - Unknown. Shawn, my sweetest and dearest love, happy six month anniversary. I love you!" I wrote. Shawn smiled and liked the post.
"I love it. Come on babe, let's go get dressed and then we can go to the park and then come back here and relax, and then go out to dinner." Shawn said. I nodded and we went in his bedroom.
"Um, I was thinking about something that we could do after dinner." I said as I got out of my pajama pants and into the jeans that Shawn had picked out for me.
"Oh really? What is it?" He asked. I put on the belt that he picked out before. I've never done anything sexual with anyone, and I'm waiting for marriage before I have sex, but there's still other sexual things that Shawn and I could do. I looked at him as he began to put on some black jeans.
"Um, maybe you could eat me out?" I asked. Shawn's eyes went wide and he lost his balance and fell.
"Ow." He said. I ran over to him.
"Babe? You okay?" I asked. He nodded.
"Yeah." He said.
"Are you hurt anywhere?" I asked.
"I hit my elbow but that's it. You want me to eat you out? Like, you want to do something sexual?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah." I said. Was I hundred percent sure that I wanted this? No. But I was pretty sure that I wanted this, and that had to count for something, right?
"Are you sure? We don't have to do it just because it's our six month anniversary." Shawn asked and said as we stood up.
"I know. I want this." I said. Did I?
"Okay, but if you want me to stop at any point, tell me, and I will. And if you change your mind, even if it's right before I get started, tell me, okay?" He asked. I nodded.
"Okay." I said.
"Do you promise me that you'll tell me?" He asked. I put my hand to his cheek.
"I promise you that I'll tell you. I love you handsome." I said. Shawn smiled at me.
"I love you too beautiful. I just don't ever want you to do something sexual with me because you feel like you have to. I want you to set the pace and I want you to be comfortable." He said.
"I know baby. Let's finish getting dressed. Wait, so where are we going?" I asked as I put on the tank top that he had picked out for me. He put on a white t-shirt.
"High Park in Toronto. It's huge and knowing you as well as I do, I know that you'll love it. Do you need help putting on that necklace babe?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"Yes please." I said. He put the rose quartz necklace on me and then kissed my shoulder.
"You look beautiful baby." Shawn said. I blushed.
"Thank you. You look so handsome. I just have to put on some makeup and do my hair." I said as I headed to his bathroom where he let me keep my makeup.
"No honey, no makeup." Shawn said as he followed me into the bathroom and angled himself in such a way that I couldn't get to my makeup.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because you look more beautiful and more real without it." Shawn said. I sighed.
"Thank you, but Shawn, we're going out, I need to put on makeup." I said as I tried to reach around him but he blocked me.
"Why do you need to put on makeup?" He asked. I closed my eyes and sighed. I then opened my eyes and looked at him.
"Your fans. Some of them say that I'm ugly, so I need to put on makeup so if they see pictures of me from today, they might not say that." I said. I could practically see his heart break and he pulled me in for a hug. My face was buried in his chest, his chin was on top of my head, my arms were wrapped around his torso and his arms were wrapped around my shoulders. He kept kissing the top of my head as he spoke to me and he swayed us from side to side.
"You're so beautiful. So beautiful. Most beautiful being I've ever laid eyes on, did you know that? You're stunning and gorgeous and breathtaking. Don't ever listen to the haters baby. You value my opinion, right?" He asked. I looked up at him.
"I value your opinion more than anyone else's to be honest." I said. He kissed my forehead and the spot that he kissed was left feeling tingly even after his lips were no longer there.
"Well my opinion is that you're the most breathtaking, beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, being that I've ever laid eyes on. Please don't listen to the haters baby, and please don't put on makeup. Think of it like this: you not wearing makeup today can be like another six month anniversary present to me. How about that?" He asked. I chewed at my bottom lip as I thought for a moment.
"Okay." I said. Shawn smiled and kissed me.
"Thank you baby." He said.
"You're welcome. I do need to do my hair though. What do you think I should do babe? Should I leave it down or put it in a ponytail or a bun?" I asked.
"Whatever you want babe." Shawn said as he moved so he was sitting on the sink.
"I think I'll put it up in a bun. If I leave it down, then my hair might cover up the beautiful necklace that you got me, and I want to show off the necklace." I said as I began to put my hair up in a bun. Shawn smiled and watched me as I put my hair in a bun.
"So beautiful." He whispered. I blushed and finished the bun. He spread his legs a bit and I stood in between them. I kissed his chin and his smile widened. I studied his face.
"So handsome." I whispered. He kissed me one, two, three more times.
"Let's get going baby." He said. I nodded and we left for the park. I smiled when I saw the park.
"Oh my gosh it's beautiful here!" I said.
"High Park may be beautiful, but it's nowhere near as beautiful as you, my love." Shawn said as we sat in the car for a moment.
"You sure know how to make a girl swoon, Mendes." I said as I unbuckled. Shawn chuckled.
"Well, my love, you're the only girl that I want to make swoon." He said. I leaned over and kissed him. We then got out of the car. Shawn went to the trunk of his jeep, and got out a picnic basket.
"What's that for and when did you put it in the car?" I asked. Shawn chuckled, shut the trunk, held the picnic basket in one hand, and held my hand with his free hand.
"They have picnic tables here, and it's almost time for lunch, so I thought that we could eat before lunch. I made the food earlier, put it in the fridge, and then, remember how I had you head out to car before me?" He asked. I nodded and put my phone in my pocket.
"Yeah." I said.
"Well that was so I could put the food in the picnic basket and then put it in the car without you seeing." Shawn said.
"Ohhh." I said. He laughed.
"You mean a lot to me. Did you know that baby?" He asked. I smiled at him.
"You like to tell me that. You mean a lot to me too." I said.
"Come here." He said as he dropped my hand and put his arm around my shoulders so he could hold me closer to him. I put my arm around his back.
"Don't you love not having to hide our relationship anymore? We used to have to drop each other's hands and things like that when we saw other people, but now we can hold hands in public as much as we want and kiss in public as much as we want and post about each other as much as we want." I asked and said.
"I know baby, I love it. I love posting about you and showing you off to the world." Shawn said. I rubbed his back a little bit and leaned on him for a moment. We soon got to a picnic table that was right on the water.
"Oh Shawn... this is beautiful. Is this where we're eating lunch?" I asked as I looked around at the view.
"Yup." Shawn said. We sat down and Shawn put the picnic basket on the table.
"So what are we eating chef Mendes?" I asked. He chuckled.
"Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." He said.
"Ohhhh, sounds exotic." I teased and Shawn laughed.
"Oh my gosh. I also brought some water but I don't know how cold it's going to be." Shawn said.
"Wait, babe, your back is to the beautiful view." I said as I pointed out at the water. He shook his head as he picked up his sandwich.
"No it's not. I've got the most beautiful view right in front of me." Shawn said and I blushed and smiled. We spent some time there and then went back to Shawn's place.
"What should we do to relax?" I asked Shawn after I kicked off my shoes.
"We could watch Netflix." He said. I nodded and that's what we did. Soon, we had to leave for dinner. Shawn changed into black dress pants and a purple button up shirt. I smiled at him.
"I'm dating a hunk." I said and Shawn laughed.
"Come on pretty girl." He said. We left and went to dinner. He took me to a nice restaurant and I ordered spaghetti.
"Thank you for today." I said.
"You're welcome darling. Are you, um, are you still sure about what you want to do when we get back to my place after dinner?" Shawn asked. No, I'm not sure. At least not one hundred percent.
"I'm sure that I want to do this to feel closer to you." I said. It's not like it was a lie.
"Baby, we don't have to do something sexual just for you to feel closer to me." He said quietly as he leaned in so no one else would hear him say it. It was like I didn't even have to say it out loud to him for him to know: I didn't want anything that we did sexually to be talked about. I wanted it to stay between the two of us.
"I know. But I want this. Wait, do you, do you not want this?" I asked, suddenly feeling nervous that he didn't want me. His eyes widened.
"No, no, I do want this, trust me, I do, I just want to make sure that you're comfortable." He said. I gave him a soft smile.
"You're so thoughtful." I said, trying to get away from the topic.
"Baby, please know and understand that if you change your mind, I won't be upset. Even if it's right before I'm about to do it, if you change your mind, I won't be upset. I promise." He said. I nodded.
"Okay." I said as our food came. We ate and then went back to his place again. I felt nervous as I went in his bathroom and took off the jeans and tank top. When I stepped out, Shawn and I kissed, undressed each other, and then he had me lay down on his bed.
"Spread your legs baby girl." Shawn said. I spread them and watched as his face got very close to my privates.
"No." I said suddenly as I sat up and brought my knees to my chest. Shawn looked at me with concern in his eyes.
"What's wrong baby?" He asked. Tears fell onto my cheeks.
"I don't think that I'm ready. I thought that I was, but I just feel so nervous and the nerves aren't going away. I'm so sorry Shawn. I wasn't trying to tease you or anything, I promise. I'm so sorry." I said. Shawn sat next to me on the bed.
"It's okay baby. We don't have to do it right now. Remember what I said on our second date?" He asked. I thought for a moment.
"That you won't break my heart." I said as I looked at him.
"Well I said that too, but I was thinking about the fact that I said that you should set the pace, and I'll just keep up. My love, if you're not ready to do this, we don't have to do this." He said. I nodded. We got dressed and talked for a little bit longer.
We then lit the candle that I got him and talked about our memories together from over the past ten months of knowing each other and six months of dating. He was sitting with his back against the headboard, his legs spread a little so I could sit in between them. My back was against his bare chest - he was shirtless again - and he had his arms wrapped around me. We both stared at the candle as we spoke.
"I love you." I said. Shawn kissed the shell of my ear.
"I love you too darling. Thank you for stopping me earlier and thank you for telling me that you weren't ready." Shawn said.
"You're welcome. Thank you for never pressuring me into doing anything." I said.
"Of course baby." Shawn said. I rested my head back on his shoulder and he kissed the side of my head.
"Happy six month anniversary Shawn." I said.
"Happy six month anniversary Y/n." Shawn said. After a few more moments, we blew out the candle and went to bed. I'm the luckiest girl in the world, and that's all because of Shawn.
