I've been married to the singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes for a little over two months now. He's absolutely wonderful, but lately he's been stressed to the max. His team wanted him to get into the studio to make an album as soon as possible, and he ended up saying no. When he came home from the meeting, he was in tears, and he told me that because we just got married and because he doesn't want to watch our future kids grow up over a Facetime conversation, he wanted to take a break for about six or so years.

"I'm so nervous right now baby. What if the fans get mad at me?" Shawn said and asked as he bounced his leg. His team knew that he would be announcing his hiatus to his fans over a live stream. I held his face in my hands. His eyes looked worried.

"They won't be mad at you honey. You're taking care of yourself, and you're doing what you feel is best." I said.

"Do you agree with me taking a break?" Shawn asked. I nodded.

"Yeah, I do. It would be wonderful to have you home so we can watch our kids grow up, and we can do it together. How about you start the live stream and I'll be upstairs watching it, okay?" I asked. Shawn nodded. I went upstairs and went on Instagram. Soon, Shawn started a live stream.

"Hey guys. Um, wow this is hard... I need my wife." Shawn said before standing up. I exited out of the app, locked my phone and got up. I met him halfway at the staircase.

"I'm right here." I said as he reached his hand out for mine. We interlaced our fingers and as our skin touched, I felt electricity spark through me, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time.

"Stick with me." He whispered.

"I will honey, I promise." I said. We walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. Shawn still held my hand as he spoke.

"So, as you guys know, Y/n and I just got married a little over two months ago. Recently my team called me in for a meeting. I love my team, I do. But they said that if I get into the studio by a certain date, then they'll set the deadline of the album as a certain date, and then I would do promotions, and then I would go on a world tour. I reminded them that they had all been at mine and Y/n's wedding just two months before. I ended up leaving the meeting abruptly and when I got home, I basically cried in Y/n's arms because I felt so stressed. This next part is going to be hard to say, so that's why I have my amazing and extremely supportive wife next to me." Shawn said as he looked at me. I gave him a soft smile and rubbed his arm a little.

"I'm right here babe." I said. He kissed my forehead and then looked back at his phone so he could continue the live stream.

"I've talked about this with my team, and with my wife and other members of my family. Y/n and I just got married, and we want to be married for a year before we start trying to have kids. I don't want to spend that first year of marriage in the studio and then touring. I want to spend it here, with my wife. Also, I don't want to be on tour before our kids are even one, and get a phone call from Y/n saying that our child has just said their first word while I'm not there. I want to savor married life, and then once we have kids, I want to be here to watch them experience their first milestones. I want to be there when they say their first word, and crawl for the first time, and take their first steps. Y/n and I know that we want three kids together. So, with all of that said... holy crap this is hard." Shawn said. I kissed his cheek.

"Don't worry honey, you're okay." I said. Shawn looked at me and kissed my cheek before whispering in my ear.

"I don't want anyone to be mad at me." He whispered.

"No one will be." I whispered back. He kissed my cheek again and then turned back to the live stream.

"With all of that said, I will be taking a break from music for about six or so years. I'll still be writing, I just won't be in the studio recording. I've already been writing some songs. Being a husband, being married to this beautiful and amazing woman that's next to me has been such a great source of inspiration, so I'll still be writing, I promise." Shawn said.

"And I feel like when we have kids, they're also going to be a huge source of inspiration as well." I said. Shawn nodded.

"Definitely. I could write about when I find out that you're pregnant, and their births and things like that. But guys, please understand my reasoning behind why I'm taking a break. You guys know that I'm a family man, and write now I want and need to savor married life with my wife, Y/n Mendes, and I also want to be there when we have kids." Shawn said. I let go of his hand and rubbed his back.

"Shawn has been so worried that you guys will be mad at him, but I told him that you won't be because you guys are amazing, and Shawn is doing what he feels is best and he's taking care of himself. And it's not like the meeting with his team happened just a couple of days ago, it happened a couple of weeks ago. Ever since that meeting, he's been toying with the idea of taking a break and he's been stressed out and worried that you guys would be upset with him. I think that right now we should send Shawn lots of love, whether it's over Twitter or Instagram or whatever it is. I think that right now he needs to know that you guys aren't mad at him for doing what he feels is best and for taking care of himself." I said. Shawn looked at me.

"You're the best wife ever." He said. I smiled.

"You're the best husband ever." I said. Shawn smiled and then turned back to his phone.

"Well I'm going to go spend some time with my amazing wife who - actually let me talk about her for a second. Is that okay with you babe?" Shawn asked me. I smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. Why do I get the feeling that you're going to make me blush?" I asked. Shawn laughed and then turned back to his phone once again.

"This woman next to me, my amazing wife, has been nothing but supportive during all of this. For the past couple of weeks, she's been right by my side to comfort me and help me out. Like I said earlier, when I got home from the meeting, I cried in Y/n's arms. She held me and reassured me that everything was going to be okay. She told me that no matter what I do, she's always going to support me, and I'm extremely grateful for what she said, and for her in general. Y/n truly is the love of my life, and I value her opinion more than anyone else's to be honest, and so I asked her what she thought I should do. I had a feeling that I already knew the answer, and I did, considering the fact that she said that it would be nice to have me home so we can watch our kids grow and things like that. Y/n is just so amazing and I truly am the luckiest man in the world to have her as my wife. I wake up with a smile on my face every morning because I know that the woman that's laying in bed next to me, loves me more than anything and is absolutely my best friend. I'll never be able to put into words how grateful I am for her. I'm going to go spend some time with her now. By the way guys, I'll still be on social media and stuff, I promise. I love you guys, bye!" Shawn said and then ended the live stream and saved it. He looked at me, and I could tell what he was asking: Did I do okay?

"Great job baby. I'm so proud of you honey! You were so worried about this live stream, but look honey, you got through it!" I said. Shawn smiled at me.

"I love you. Thank you for always being so supportive." He said.

"I love you too, and you're welcome." I said. I love Shawn so much. He's so wonderful and I'm so proud to be his wife.
