4. "Marry Me"

A/n: Let's pretend that it's early in the morning, tomorrow morning, shall we? I hope that you guys enjoy this imagine! Anyways, without further ado, let's begin!

I've been dating the singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes for almost three and a half years now, and I couldn't possibly be more in love than I already am. Shawn has my full heart, he has my whole soul, he has all of me, and he knows it. Shawn attended the Met Gala in New York City last night, and even though he told me not to wait up for him, I did anyways. I haven't seen him since late February, and I've missed my man terribly. Soon the door swung open as I was reading my book, and Shawn walked in. He smiled at me.

"Hello there darling. I thought I told you not to wait up for me." He said as I stood up to give him a hug.

"Hi handsome. I know that you said that, but I haven't seen you since late February, and I've missed you a lot. Do you need any help with your luggage?" I asked as we pulled away from the hug. Shawn shook his head.

"No, I'm okay baby. You just sit down and keep reading. I'll be there in a minute." He said and I nodded as I sat back down and opened up my book. Soon, Shawn was done bringing in his luggage and he came and sat with me on the couch. He pulled me close to him, causing me to giggle, and he kissed my cheek. I put the bookmark in the book and looked at him.

"My love, I've missed your kisses." I said. Shawn smiled at me.

"Come here." He said and immediately put his lips on mine. I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, I felt sparks shoot through me like fireworks, and I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon. Shawn and I pulled away and smiled at each other.

"I love you." I said. Shawn's smile widened.

"I love you too. You mean so much to me. Did you know that?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yeah. You like to tell me that a lot." I said. Shawn nodded.

"Yup, because it's true." He said.

"Well you mean the world to me." I said and he smiled again before kissing my cheek.

"Keep reading babe." He said.

"But you just got home." I pointed out. He nodded.

"Yeah, but I love seeing your beautiful y/e/c eyes dance across the page. Keep reading my love." He said.

"Are you sure?" I asked. He nodded.

"I'm positive honey." He said. I then went back to reading the book that had just been in my hands. Shawn's arms were still wrapped around me in a safe embrace. I then felt Shawn rub his nose on the side of my head and I smiled at his comforting and relaxing touch. I hummed.

"This feels nice." I said.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Yeah." I said.

"Should I do it more often?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yeah." I said. He kissed my cheek gently and lovingly a few times and then kept rubbing his nose on me before burying his face into my neck. I smiled as I felt his long fingers rub my sides. He then picked his head up and pulled a hand away so he could rest his face on his fist as his arm rested on the back of the couch. I looked at him as he gazed at me with such love in his eyes that my heart felt like it could have burst.

"What?" He asked.

"Why did you pull away?" I asked.

"Is it a crime for a man to want to gaze lovingly at the woman that he wants to marry someday?" Shawn asked. I giggled, blushed, and shook my head.

"No." I said. He smiled and I went back to my book. Shawn kissed the side of my cheek again and rested his face against the side of mine. I love how affectionate and cuddly he is.

"Marry me." Shawn said. I turned my head to look at him.

"What?" I asked, wanting to make sure that I heard him correctly.

"Marry me. I want you for the rest of my life. Marry me Y/n." He said. I was about to open my mouth to say yes when he stood up. "I'll be right back." He said and began to run upstairs.

"SHAWN! YOU CAN'T JUST SAY THAT AND THEN RUN AWAY!" I yelled so he could hear me. He then came back down with a little velvet box in his hands. Oh my gosh. Had the engagement ring been in the house with me the whole time. He motioned for me to stand up, so I put the book aside and stood up. He took my hands in his and then got down on one knee and opened up the box. Happy tears fell from my eyes.

"Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n, I love you more than words will ever be able to describe. You're my everything and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You're my dream girl - actually, you're better than my dream girl. You make me happier than I've ever been in my whole life. You make me laugh more and smile more than I ever have. I'm the most comfortable when I'm with you and I'm the happiest when I'm with you. I already wake up every morning and choose you, but I want to continue to do that if you'll let me. So, with all of that said, will you marry me?" Shawn asked. I nodded as I cried happy tears.

"Yes! Of course yes Shawn! I'll marry you!" I said. Shawn smiled, took off the promise ring that he had given me six months into the relationship, put on the engagement ring, stood up and kissed me. We eventually pulled away and smiled at each other.

"Thank you for saying yes honey." He said.

"Of course! I love you so much Shawn. You're my best friend and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Oh my gosh I'm so happy right now." I said. Shawn kissed my cheek.

"Me too darling, me too." He said. We sat back down on the couch, and talked a bit. We agreed not to tell anyone yet - it was about two in the morning, so it was too early to call and tell anyone - but at least we could tease. I decided to tweet something.

"Page 84 of Jim Bishop's A Day in the Life of President Kennedy will forever have a special place in my heart now. I love you lots @shawnmendes." I tweeted and Shawn then posted his own tweet.

"Got some big BIG news coming up. Love you @yourusername!" He tweeted. I liked the tweet.

"I feel too excited to go to bed." I said.

"Want to pull an all nighter?" Shawn asked.

"I have work later." I said. Shawn kissed my cheek.

"Call out. Tell them that you didn't get enough sleep to function." Shawn said.

"Tempting, but when we post online saying that we got engaged, my boss will figure out why I didn't get enough sleep. Wait, oh my gosh, how am I supposed to go into work tomorrow and see a bunch of people who might notice a newer and bigger rock on my finger?" I said and asked. Shawn thought for a moment.

"Okay, good point. I know that it's early in the morning, but should we call our families?" He asked. I looked at the time and shook my head.

"No. I'll just turn the ring so the diamond isn't showing and it's just the band. If anyone asks, I don't know, I'll come up with something." I said. Shawn nodded.

"I can't wait to marry you honey." Shawn said.

"I can't wait either. Would it, um, and it's totally okay to say no, but would it be okay if I took your last name when we get married?" I asked. Shawn's eyes widened and I saw tears form.

"You, you want to take my last name?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yes but only if it's okay with you." I said. Tears fell onto Shawn's cheeks as he smiled and pulled me into his lap.

"Oh my gosh honey, of course it's okay with me. It's perfect with me. Oh wow, if I'm crying about the fact that you want to take my last name, how do you think I'm going to be when you walk down the aisle?" Shawn said. I smiled and wiped away some of his tears.

"I don't know, but I think that at least one of us will be in tears." I said and Shawn laughed and nodded.

"Yeah. Come on honey, let's go to bed." He said. He then picked me up, and I wrapped my legs around his waist on instinct, and he carried me up to bed, laid me down, and tucked me in.

"Good night future hubby. I love you." I said as Shawn gently pulled me close to him and swung his leg over my hip.

"Good night future wifey. I love you too." He said, and with that, we fell asleep as an engaged couple. I'm the luckiest girl in the world.
