186. Shawn Can't Sleep

Shawn's point of view

My girlfriend of almost eight months, Y/n Y/l/n and I crawled into bed together. I smiled at her as I laid on my back and opened up my arms for her to come into. I heard her yawn as she placed her head on my chest, or as she calls it, her favorite pillow.

"I'm tired baby." She said. I pulled the blankets up around us so she wouldn't get cold even though it was August and, if anything, we would probably get a bit warm. I placed my hand on her shoulder, my arm around her back, just like I do every single night.

"I know sweetheart. Close your eyes and sleep." I said before kissing the top of her head and then closing my own eyes.

"Good night Shawn. I love you." She said. I smiled and felt butterflies in my stomach at her words.

"Good night Y/n. I love you too." I said. It didn't take very long before I felt Y/n's body relax in my arms and heard her cute little snores, but for some reason, sleep didn't come to me as quickly as usual. I laid there with my eyes closed, feeling tired. Y/n shifted a bit in my arms. I opened my eyes and looked at her. The room was dark but I knew that she was looking beautiful. She always does.

After a few hours of just laying in bed, unable to sleep, I decided to get up. I very carefully and slowly moved my body so I wouldn't wake up Y/n, and went downstairs. I looked at the time and sighed. Two forty five in the morning. I made myself a cup of tea and went into the living room. For my twenty second birthday, Y/n had gotten me a book about Woodstock, and a book about Freddie Mercury, along with a few other things. I sat on the couch and picked up the book about Freddie Mercury and read some of it as I sipped my tea.

I soon heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Of course, I didn't need to look up to know that it was my girlfriend. I looked up from the book and there was something about her beauty that, just like always, took my breath away. She stood there, in the door frame, wearing my white shirt which was like a dress on her. Her hair was up in a messy ponytail and she had no makeup on, but she looked gorgeous.

"Hi gorgeous." I said. She smiled at me as she came over and sat next to me.

"Hi handsome. What are you doing awake?" She asked as she rested her head on my shoulder. My shirt was on the floor in the bedroom and I had shorts on. I put a bookmark in the book and set it down on the coffee table in front of us before turning my body more to Y/n. I kissed her forehead before resting my forehead against hers.

"I can't sleep. I thought getting up was better than just laying there." I said as Y/n put her hand on my cheek.

"Why didn't you wake me, my love?" She asked.

"Didn't want to bother you. You have a hard time with your sleep already, you don't need me to make it worse." I said.

"Remember before we started dating, when we would facetime and stay up very late talking?" Y/n asked as I picked my head up and looked at her. I nodded and smiled.

"Yeah." I said. I gently picked up Y/n and put her on my lap. She moved herself so she was straddling my lap. I closed my eyes as she placed a few kisses on my forehead.

"You're worth losing sleep for. Come on, let's go to bed and I'll rub your head. How does that sound?" Y/n asked. I nodded. I left everything where it was and Y/n and I went upstairs. I put my head on her chest and she immediately started to run her fingers through my curls. I sighed contently, it felt perfect.

"This is perfect. Thank you." I said.

"You're welcome. Sleep, my love. I'll be here when you wake up." She said. I nodded, suddenly too tired to speak. Within minutes of Y/n rubbing my head, I was asleep. I'm so grateful for Y/n and the fact that she can always help me fall asleep.
