August fifteenth, 2022 - Boston, Massachusetts

My fiancé is the singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes, and I'm currently on tour with him for the summer before I have to go back to school in the fall. I was sitting on his lap backstage before his question and answer session. About a year ago, Shawn and I moved in together, so he sold his place in Toronto, and we bought a house in the suburbs of Massachusetts. Tonight, Shawn's show is in Boston, and tomorrow will mark three years since we met.

"My love?" Shawn asked before kissing my cheek. We were joined in his dressing room by his manager, Andrew Gertler, the guy who has been videotaping Shawn's tour, Connor Brashier, Shawn's best friend and best man for our wedding, Brian Craigen, along with Cez Darke, Shawn's tour manager and Shawn's tour photographer who also did our engagement photoshoot and took pictures of Shawn proposing to me, Josiah Van Dien.

"Yes baby?" I asked as I smiled at the feeling of his big hands rubbing my legs slowly and soothingly.

"I love you. I love you so much honey." He said. My smile widened.

"I love you so much too baby." I said.

"How many days until the wedding?" Shawn asked. I grabbed my phone and looked at the countdown app that I have on there.

"649 days." I said. Shawn kissed my cheek again.

"I can't wait. I'm so excited honey." Shawn said as I set my phone down. I looked at him with a big smile on my face.

"I know babe, I am too." I said. There was a knock at the door.

"Come in!" Shawn said. Jake Stras, Shawn's security guard, poked his head in.

"Shawn, your question and answer session is ready. Are you coming Y/n?" Jake asked. I got off of Shawn's lap and looked at him, wanting to make sure that it was okay with him if I went into the q and a like I have been lately. Shawn smiled and nodded at me, knowing why I was looking at him. He can read any and all of my facial expressions, and he can read what I'm feeling or asking just by my eyes.

"Yeah." I said to Jake. Shawn interlaced his fingers with mine, and as our skin touched, I felt electricity spark through me, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time. We walked into the q and a session, and the fans screamed as Shawn and I sat down. They soon quieted down and Shawn went over the rules.

"So, just like usual, if someone is asking a question, please don't talk over them. Also, if you need me to repeat a question, I will. As you guys most likely know by now since I post about her a lot, this is my fiancée, Y/n Y/l/n, and you guys can ask her questions too. Okay, let's get started with questions." Shawn said. He then began looking around as if he were looking for a specific person.

"Why do you look like you're looking for a specific person?" I asked him. He then pointed at someone.

"Yes, you, Grace Bratton." He said. I looked at where he had been pointing and my jaw dropped. There was my best friend and maid of honor, Grace!

"Oh my gosh. What? How, what, what are you doing here?" I asked her. She laughed.

"So, two things. First of all, Shawn texted me, and he asked me what my email address was, so I told him, and he emailed me passes to the q and a, and he said that he thought that it would be great if I could surprise you. So I emailed him back saying yes, that I would love to surprise you, and his response was so funny that I screenshot it. Hold on, okay I found it. He wrote back 'Great! She's going to be so happy to see you! You can say something or ask a question, but when you raise your hand, please make sure that you raise the hand with all the bracelets on it so when I hear your bracelets jingle I'll know it's you.'" She read. I laughed as I looked at Shawn.

"Oh my gosh Shawn." I said as I laughed. He shrugged.

"How else was I supposed to know where she was going to be sitting?" Shawn asked as he chuckled.

"I don't know, maybe ask her to send you a picture of where she's sitting, or just look for my best friend's face." I said with a smile. Shawn laughed and then we looked at Grace again.

"Oh my gosh, okay so my second thing is a question for Y/n. As your maid of honor, I would like to know, are the bridesmaids dresses going to be pink? You know how I feel about the color pink." She said. I laughed. She hates pink. I then looked at Shawn.

"Do you mind if I say our color theme?" I asked. He shook his head.

"No, that's fine." He said. I looked at Grace.

"No, they won't be pink -" I started.

"Thank God." Grace said. I laughed.

"Our color theme for the wedding is royal blue and gold, so the dresses are most likely going to be gold. Is your dress supposed to be different from the bridesmaids dresses since you're my maid of honor?" I asked Grace. She shrugged.

"I honestly have no clue." She said.

"You're coming with me to pick out my wedding dress and the bridesmaids dresses, right?" I asked. She nodded.

"Yup. Who else is coming with us to pick out your wedding dress?" She asked.

"It's going to be, you, me, my mom, Shawn's mum Karen, and Shawn's sister Aaliyah." I said. She nodded.

"Oh, I almost forgot, this is for you." Grace said as she lifted up a Dunkin Donuts coffee.

"Oh my gosh you're the best." I said. She laughed as I got up, hugged her, and then she gave me the coffee. I then sat back down with Shawn.

"Is it the same thing that you were drinking when we met?" Shawn asked me with a smile on his face as I took a sip of the drink. I then looked at him and nodded.

"Yup. Did you know that I remember everything about the day that we met?" I asked with a smile. Shawn nodded.

"Yes, and I do too." Shawn said before kissing my cheek. He then chose someone else to ask a question as he held one of my hands in his.

"My question is for Shawn. How did your team feel about you wanting to bring Y/n into your question and answer sessions?" The girl asked. I looked at Shawn. I already knew the answer to this. Shawn sighed and ran his fingers through his hair before answering the question.

"They weren't fully on board with her coming into my q and a's when I first told them that that's what I wanted, but I told them that I love Y/n very much, which should be obvious since her and I are engaged, and I told them that I want my fans to get to know her more, and that bringing her into my q and a's would help you guys get to know her more, plus it would mean that I would get to spend even more time with her. They finally said yes which made me very happy." Shawn said. He then picked someone else to ask a question.

"My question is for Y/n. How much did it mean to you that Shawn moved down here to Massachusetts for you from another country?" She asked. I smiled.

"Oh it meant, and still means, so much to me. I felt really bad about it at first, because I felt like I was taking him away from his family and friends, but he reassured me that I wasn't, and when I talked about how I was feeling with Karen and Manny and Aaliyah, and some of Shawn's friends, they reassured me that I wasn't taking him away from anyone or anything. There are times when I still feel bad about it, but then Shawn comforts me so I feel better once he comforts me." I said. Shawn kissed my cheek and then chose the next person.

"My question is for both of you guys. Do you know what your first dance song is going to be?" The person asked. Shawn and I smiled at each other.

"I Get To Love You by Ruelle. We just feel like the song is so fitting to us." Shawn said.

"We had a hard time picking what song we wanted though." I said. Shawn nodded.

"Yeah, so first we liked Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran, and then we liked I Get To Love You by Ruelle, and then we liked Unforgettable by Nat King Cole, and it was so hard to choose because we loved all of those songs so much, but we finally chose I Get To Love You." Shawn said before picking someone else to ask a question.

"Do you guys think that you'll announce that you're married on the day of your wedding, or after the day of your wedding?" She asked.

"Shawn and I were actually just talking about this." I said as I looked over at him. He nodded.

"Yeah, so what we're probably going to do is, when we're sitting at our wedding reception, we'll take a picture of our hands so it shows my wedding band and Y/n's wedding ring, and we'll both write similar captions, and honestly my mind is going blank on what Y/n said she would write as her caption." Shawn said, causing all of us to laugh.

"I'll probably caption it something like 'Mine and my husband's new jewelry. At our wedding reception. More pictures to come later.'" I said.

"I'll probably post the same picture with a similar caption." Shawn said. He then picked someone else to ask a question.

"My question is for both of you guys. Um, how do your friends see you guys when you're not in front of everyone and it's just you guys and your friends?" The person asked. I looked over at Grace and her eyes widened when she realized what I was thinking.

"Grace, would you like to come up here, and answer that question?" Shawn asked.

"Where would I sit? There's no place for me to sit." She asked and said.

"I'll just sit on Shawn's lap while you answer the question. I mean, you are my best friend, and you see us all the time when we're home." I said.

"Okay." She said as she nodded and got up. I sat on Shawn's lap and he wrapped his arms around my waist to hold me. Grace sat down next to Shawn and I.

"This is my best friend of five years and maid of honor, Grace Bratton." I said as I gestured towards her. Her face turned red from embarrassment but she smiled anyways.

"Oh my gosh. Okay, so, I've seen Shawn and Y/n when it's just the three of us, I've been to their house a million times, and I love the way that Shawn treats my best friend. I remember when she first met him, she texted me and said that she had just met Shawn Mendes and that he had asked her out on a date and that they sat down and talked for two hours. The next day they went on another date, and I'll never forget getting a text from Y/n saying that I NEEDED to come over to her house that night, and I did, and she told me that they had kissed." She said.

"Well I was very happy about that kiss." I said with a smile. Grace nodded.

"Yeah, I could tell when you kept saying that and you couldn't stop smiling. I think your brother even tried to remind you of something that you normally wouldn't have liked and you responded by saying 'Shawn and I kissed three times today, so I don't care about anything else.' I remember, as they were getting to know each other, and basically ever since they met, if Shawn is mentioned, or Y/n sees him, or she's with him, she starts smiling. It's really beautiful to see how happy Shawn makes her because I know how her ex was with her, and so to see that she's found a great guy that she loves so much and who loves her back just as much is so beautiful. When they're in front of fans or a bunch of people, they don't do as much PDA as they typically do. However, whenever I'm at their house, and it's just the three of us, they're disgustingly cute." Grace said, making everyone laugh.

"Hey, we're just trying to show each other how much we love each other." Shawn said and Grace laughed.

"When it's just the three of us, this is how they sit. Y/n sits on his lap or she'll sit next to him and lean on him and they'll occasionally share kisses. I've seen it where they have music playing and a certain song will come on, and they'll just get up and dance to it and it's so beautiful to see. Also, I know that I'm rambling -" Grace started.

"Oh stop it, you're fine." I said. She laughed.

"I know that Y/n gets hate, and I've seen it where Y/n will be talking to me about it and crying, and Shawn will come home from somewhere, and he will literally drop whatever's in his hands and rush over to her to figure out what's going on and to comfort her. He's always able to get her to calm down and make her feel better. So yeah, they're great together and beyond in love with each other and I'm very happy that my best friend is marrying her soulmate and best friend." Grace said. I smiled, got off of Shawn's lap, and hugged her.

"Thank you for that." I whispered. She nodded.

"Of course." She whispered back. She then hugged Shawn, and went back to where she had been sitting. Shawn held my hand in his again, and rubbed my hand with his thumb. I smiled at him for a moment as he picked someone else to ask a question. I then snapped back to reality when I realized that the question was aimed at me.

"I'm sorry what? I was just staring at Shawn and feeling very grateful for him." I said. Everyone laughed and my face turned red. Shawn kissed my cheek and then whispered in my ear.

"Your face is so cute when it's all red, but then again, your face is always cute." Shawn said. I giggled and smiled at him.

"Thank you baby." I said.

"You're welcome. Okay, so, for the fan who just asked a question, could you say it again please?" Shawn asked with a smile on his face.

"My question is for Y/n. What was going through your mind when Shawn was proposing to you?" She asked. My smile widened.

"Well, when I saw him down on one knee, my first thought was 'Oh my gosh.' which I think I actually said out loud. I remember, when I saw him down on one knee and I walked over to him, he held one of my hands, and my other hand was covering my mouth and I was in tears because I was so happy, and I kind of wanted to ask 'Can I say yes already?' but I also knew that whatever he was about to say would be beautiful, so I waited until he asked me to marry him before I said yes." I said.

"I don't even remember what I said. I remember going down on one knee, seeing you being very surprised and crying happy tears, and the next thing I remember, you were saying yes and I was putting the ring on you." Shawn said.

"Well that's why it's a good thing that you had Andrew videotape it. I love watching that video." I said with a smile. He nodded and chose another person to ask a question.

"Will you guys ever post that video of Shawn proposing so we can find out what he said?" The fan asked. I looked at Shawn, who, I could tell by the look on his face, was thinking this over.

"I just got an idea." I said. Shawn looked at me.

"What's your idea babe?" Shawn asked.

"Maybe, what we should do, is we can both post the video of you proposing to me, the day before our wedding. We can even put something in the caption about the fact that we'll be getting married the next day or something like that." I said. Shawn smiled and nodded.

"Okay. Yeah, so you guys will see the video of me proposing to Y/n the day before we get married." Shawn said to the fans and they cheered. Shawn turned to Jake and waved him over. I didn't hear what Shawn asked Jake, but then Shawn looked at Grace. "Grace, after the q and a, come with us and you can hang out in my dressing room with us."

"Wait, what? Are you sure?" She asked. I smiled as Shawn nodded.

"Yeah." He said. She smiled.

"Okay." She said. After the q and a, Grace followed us back to Shawn's dressing room. I instantly pulled her in for a hug.

"I can't believe you're here!" I said. She laughed.

"Thank your fiancé, he's the one that set this up." She said. I looked at Shawn and he smiled at me as I put my hand to his cheek.

"You're absolutely amazing and I love you so much." I said. Shawn gave me a quick kiss.

"You're the amazing one and I love you so much too." Shawn said. I then turned to Andrew, Josiah, Brian, Connor, and Cez. They had, somehow, never met Grace.

"Guys, this is my best friend, Grace Bratton. Grace, this is Andrew, Josiah, Brian, Connor, and Cez." I said. She shook their hands and then Shawn pulled me into his lap as Grace sat next to us. Later on, when Shawn went onstage, Grace stood with me on the side of the stage to watch Shawn perform.

"This is amazing!" She said. I nodded and smiled. Later on, I got an email from Josiah. He had taken pictures of Grace, Shawn and I when we were all in Shawn's dressing room, and he had taken mine and Grace's picture when we were on the side of the stage. One of the pictures from when we were on the side of the stage was when I was saying something to Grace as I pointed at something, probably Shawn, and the other was a picture of us looking at the camera and smiling as we had our arms wrapped around each other. I sent the pictures to Grace.

Me: Mind if I post these on Instagram?

Grace: No, that's fine!

Me: Thank you!!!

I posted a picture of me sitting on Shawn's lap in his dressing room as Grace and I talked and laughed about something, and the two photos from when we were on the side of the stage as Shawn performed. I wrote the caption.

"My amazing fiancé and best friend, Shawn Mendes, surprised me by having my other best friend, Grace, surprise me at his q and a! He then had her come back to his dressing room so we could all hang out and then she stayed with me as we watched Shawn perform from the side of the stage. Shawn, thank you for having Grace come and surprise me, and Grace, thank you for being my best friend, surprising me at the q and a, bringing me some coffee at the q and a, and thank you for being you. I'm the luckiest girl in the world to be surrounded by such great people." I wrote. Shawn smiled at me when he saw it.

"Beautiful, my love." Shawn said. I smiled and thanked him.

May twenty fourth, 2024 - the day before the wedding

Me: Ready to post the proposal video?

My Love: Yup. Who should post first?

Me: I don't know. Maybe we can post it at the same time? Also, I hate the fact that we're not supposed to see each other until tomorrow. How am I supposed to fall asleep without your arms around me?

My Love: Yes, let's post it at the same time. Also, I agree with you, but the wait to see each other will be worth it. Hug one of my hoodies that smells like me, I left the pink one behind for you. I know that it's your favorite hoodie of mine. Alright, let's make this post.

Me: Thank you. I love you.

My Love: You're welcome. I love you too baby girl. So, so, so much.

I smiled at the texts between Shawn and I. Tomorrow, we'll become husband and wife. In a q and a session a while ago, we agreed to post the video of Shawn proposing to me the day before the wedding. I watched the video first, before I posted it. I smiled as I watched the video.

"Turn around babe." Shawn said. I did, and I felt happy tears form in my eyes as I saw Shawn down on one knee with a little box in his hand.

"Oh my gosh." I said as I walked closer to him. He smiled at me and reached one of his hands out for mine. I held his hand as my other hand covered my mouth. He stroked the top of my hand with his thumb a little bit.

"Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n, you're my best friend, my soulmate, my girl, my rock, my everything. You're the most important person in the world to me and I love you more than words will ever be able to describe. You're my one and only. You're so beautiful and gorgeous and stunning, and I love waking up before you to see the sun hit you just right. You're breathtaking. But you're more than just your looks. You're kind, caring, smart, funny, loving, the list goes on and on. You're amazing and one of a kind. I already wake up every morning and choose you, but I want to continue to do that. So, will you do me the biggest honor and marry me?" Shawn asked as he opened the box to reveal the most beautiful ring that I had ever seen. Happy tears fell onto my cheeks as I nodded.

"Yes! Of course yes Shawn! Of course I'll marry you!" I said. Shawn's smile widened and he took the ring out of the box and put it on me.

I posted the video to Instagram and wrote the caption.

"In a question and answer session almost two years ago, Shawn and I promised that we would post the video of him proposing to me the day before our wedding. Well here it is, the video of Shawn proposing to me. Tomorrow is the big day! I can't wait to marry my best friend. See you at the altar tomorrow @shawnmendes ! I love you so much." I captioned it. Shawn posted the same video of course. I read his caption and smiled.

"Y/n and I were once asked when we would post the video of me proposing to her. We said that we would post it the day before our wedding. Tomorrow, I marry the love of my life, my best friend, my everything. @yourusername I can't wait to see you walk down the aisle! Aaliyah texted me and said that you're worried that I'm not going to like your dress, but I promise you that I'm going to love it because you always look beautiful, and you always take my breath away. I love you so much, and I can't wait to marry you tomorrow." Shawn wrote. I smiled. The next day, Shawn cried when I walked down the aisle, and I posted a picture of my wedding ring and his wedding band while we were still at our reception.

"My husband and I wearing our new jewelry. We're at our wedding reception right now! More pictures to come later when Shawn and I get a chance to sit back, look at them, and then post some of them. I'm the luckiest girl in the world. Xoxo - Mrs. Y/n Mendes." I wrote. Shawn posted a picture of me with my chin resting in the palm of my hand but my wedding ring was showing, and my smile was huge. You could see Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake in the background of the photo, which made me smile and laugh.

"My newly wedded wife showing off her wedding ring. We're at our wedding reception right now - and if you look closely, you can see that @jimmyfallon and @justintimberlake are here too! My wife and I will post more pictures when we get a chance. Xx - Mr. Shawn Mendes, Y/n's husband!" Shawn captioned it. I was sitting right next to him as he posted it. I smiled at him.

"I love you hubby." I said. Shawn smiled at me as he set his phone down.

"I love you too wifey." Shawn said. He then put his lips on mine. I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, and I felt sparks shoot through my body like never before. I smiled at Shawn when we pulled away.

"I can't believe it. We're officially husband and wife." I said. Shawn kissed my cheek and rubbed my back.

"I know. It's crazy but amazing. I feel like I'm dreaming or something." Shawn said. I smiled and leaned on him. The next day, before we left for our honeymoon, Shawn and I got an email that had some of our wedding pictures in it. We posted some (A/n: If you want to know what Shawn and Y/n wrote for their captions and what pictures they posted, it's in the ninth imagine of this book, titled "Wedding Day") of the wedding pictures and made posts. A few days later, when we were on our honeymoon in Hawaii, we got all of our wedding photos emailed to us.

"I love that one." I said with a laugh as I pointed at the picture of Jimmy Fallon and I dancing as Shawn gave the camera a fake confused look as he had his arms up in the air as if he were saying "What?". Shawn posted it and I read his caption.

"That moment when you're dancing with your newly wedded wife at your wedding to Aretha Franklin's song Respect and @jimmyfallon cuts in and starts dancing with your wife. I'll get you back for this Jimmy! Just kidding, I love this picture and so does Y/n." Shawn captioned it. I liked the post. Jimmy Fallon then reposted the photo onto his Instagram.

"This is the face that @shawnmendes makes when I steal his newly wedded wife @yourusername from him so we can dance to Respect by Aretha Franklin. I think almost the whole time that we were dancing, Y/n kept saying 'Jimmy, I don't know how to dance!' so I kept saying 'Just go with it!' lol. Since Mr. and Mrs. Mendes are posting more pictures from their wedding, does that mean that I can too?" Jimmy captioned it. Shawn commented on it.

"Yes you can post more pictures and/or videos from our wedding!!!" Shawn commented. Jimmy's next post was from when Shawn and I were walking back down the aisle. I had been holding Shawn's hand with one hand, and holding my bouquet with the other hand. In the picture, Shawn was high fiving someone while having a big smile on his face, and Jimmy had taken the picture right when I saw him since he had an aisle seat. I have a soft spot for Jimmy, he's great, so I had been smiling as I walked back down the aisle, but my smile had gotten even bigger when I saw Jimmy.

"Not to sound cocky or anything, but Mrs. Y/n Mendes had been smiling at other people as she walked back down the aisle with her husband, Shawn Mendes, but her smile got bigger when she saw me. This picture was taken the moment that she saw me. Congratulations to one of the most beautiful couples who had one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever seen!" Jimmy captioned it. I commented on the post after I liked it.

"I have a soft spot for ya Jimmy. Shawn and I love you so much!" I commented.

"Look babe, Justin Timberlake posted a video from our wedding." Shawn said. I smiled and leaned on Shawn as I watched the video of Shawn and I dancing to Justin's song, Mirrors. The video was about a minute long, and then I read Justin's caption.

"When I heard my own song playing, I was so tempted to jump in and ask Y/n for a dance, but then I saw the way that Y/n and Shawn were looking at each other, their smiles bigger than ever, and dancing with each other, so I didn't. The love that these two have for each other was felt by everybody there throughout the ceremony and reception. I've known Shawn for a long time, and I've never seen him so happy as he is when he's talking about Y/n or when he's with Y/n. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Mendes!" Justin wrote. I commented on it.

"I love this, and you, so much! Thank you JT, and thank you for encouraging me to tell Shawn that I love him all the back in March of 2020 (A/n: If you guys want to read about Justin Timberlake encouraging Y/n to tell Shawn how she feels about him, it's in this imagines book, number 32, titled "Meeting Justin Timberlake & John Mayer" and the imagine where Y/n tells Shawn that she loves him is in this book, number 33, titled "First I Love You & Talks Of The Future")!" I commented. Shawn commented on the post too.

"Love this video so much. Thank you for posting it! Also, thank you for being the one to encourage Y/n to tell me that she loves me when she visited me in Toronto in March of 2020. She told me that she loves me for the first time that night, making me a very happy man, and now that her and I are married, I'm the happiest man alive." Shawn commented. I love Shawn so much, I love my best friend Grace so much, I love the wedding posts so much, and I'm the luckiest girl in the world.
