A/n: So I know that I already wrote an imagine about Shawn and Y/n going public, but I realized that Instagram has a limit on what you can write in a caption. What I had written in the other imagine about them going public, I don't think that it would've fit, I think it would have been too long of a caption. So, that's why I decided to write this imagine. Also, the pictures at the bottom of this imagine are the photos that you and Shawn posted. Anyways, please enjoy this imagine. Okay, without further ado, let's begin!

May twenty second, 2020

Today marks five months since the singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes, asked me to be his girlfriend. We had known each other for a little over four months at that time, and I had really fallen for him, so of course I said yes.

Back in March, I came up to Toronto to visit Shawn and meet some of his family and friends. While we were out at dinner one night, the paparazzi showed up outside. Shawn had me hold his hand even though we hadn't gone public yet, but he didn't want me to get lost in the crowd. His fans went nuts when they saw pictures of him holding my hand. They also went nuts when he followed my private Instagram account that same night. Since then, people have been requesting to follow me, but I decline it unless I know them personally.

I woke up in Shawn's arms and smiled. I'm spending the summer with him, and we couldn't be happier about all of the time that we get to spend together for the next three and a half months. This time together has brought us closer and we've learned even more about each other, which I really love. I'm falling harder and harder for him with each moment and each day. Shawn was shirtless, showing off his beautiful chest hair. I kissed his jaw, and in his sleep, he smiled. I got out of bed gently and carefully so I wouldn't wake him up, and went into his kitchen. I made myself a cup of coffee - I would make Shawn some tea when he got up. I then went and sat down on the couch and pulled out my phone.

Last night, Shawn and I, along with some of his friends, went to a concert. I follow a bunch of Shawn Mendes fan accounts, and people were sharing videos of him from the concert. In some of the videos, you could clearly see that he had an arm around me, and in another video, you could also clearly see that it was me Shawn was kissing on the side of the head as I smiled nice and wide. I was unaware that anyone was filming, I was just smiling because I was happy to be with Shawn, the love of my life and my absolute best friend in the whole wide world.

I read the comments of the posts. Some people were saying that Shawn shouldn't have a girlfriend right now. Some people were saying that I was fat and ugly - the same things that they had said when they saw the photos of us holding hands after going out to dinner. Some people were saying that he shouldn't be with me, that he should be with them. But other people were saying nice things, like that Shawn deserves a nice girl and that they hope that he's happy, and some were even saying that I'm beautiful, which made me feel good.

"What are you looking at darling?" Shawn asked. I jumped since I hadn't heard him come out to the living room.

"You scared me. Um, people saw us together at the concert last night and now there's videos of it on Instagram. Some people are saying some nice things and other people are saying some mean things." I said. Shawn sat down next to me and put an arm around my shoulders.

"What are the mean things that they're saying honey?" He asked, so I told him.

"But you know what?" I asked as I set my phone and coffee down and moved over so I was straddling his lap. He wrapped his arms around me.

"What?" He asked.

"Five months ago today you asked me to be your girlfriend! Happy anniversary baby!" I said. Shawn smiled as he rubbed my sides and I held his face in my hands.

"Happy anniversary darling. Give me a kiss." He said. I didn't have to be told twice. I immediately put my lips on his. I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, and I felt sparks shoot through me like fireworks.

"I love you." I said when we pulled away from the kiss, gasping for air.

"I love you too." He said. I kissed his cheek repeatedly and he rubbed my back as I did this. I then pulled away and looked at him.

"Do you want me to make you some tea?" I asked. He shook his head and patted my legs so I would get off his lap, which I did.

"No, I can do it babe. You just sit here and be your beautiful self. I'll be right back." He said. I nodded.

"Okay." I said. I sat there and sipped my coffee as I waited for Shawn to come back. He soon came back in the room and sat down next to me. He set his tea down on the coffee table in front of us and then turned to me. I set my coffee down and looked at him as he began to rub my arms.

"You know, fans are assuming and speculating about us." He said. I nodded.

"Yeah." I said.

"And we've been spotted holding hands while leaving dinner, we've been spotted with our arms around each other at a park, and now we've been spotted at a concert with my arm around you and me kissing the side of your head." He said. I nodded.

"Yeah." I said. Was he thinking of going public? He gently rubbed his nose against mine.

"What do you think about us going public with our? I know that you're going to get hate, I know that you already do get hate, but I'll protect you, I promise. Plus, today is the perfect day because our posts that announce our relationship could also be for our five month anniversary. I can already see you getting nervous, but I'm right here my love, I'm right here." Shawn asked and said. I chewed at my bottom lip as I thought for a moment.

"Do you think that I'm ready for this?" I asked. Shawn nodded.

"Yes I do babe. If I didn't think you were ready, I wouldn't have said anything about it." He said as he brought his hand to my cheek and rubbed it with his thumb. I put my hand over his, held his hand where it was and kissed his palm. I then looked at him.

"Will we cuddle afterwards?" I asked. Shawn smiled and nodded.

"Of course we will my love. We can do anything that you want. You know, if we go public, we won't have to sneak around anymore. We could go out and do stuff like a normal couple." He said.

"I'll go public with you on one condition." I said with a smirk.

"And what's that my love?" He asked.

"I get a kiss before we make our posts and a kiss after we make our posts." I said. Shawn chuckled and nodded.

"Y/n, you can get all of my kisses forever." He said as he moved his lips closer to mine. I smiled when he said forever.

"Forever sounds nice, doesn't it?" I asked.

"As long as it's with you." He said and then put his lips on mine. We kissed for a little bit and then pulled away.

"Okay, will you post first?" I asked. Shawn nodded and then got his phone out. I picked a photo of Shawn playfully biting my cheek. I found a quote or two that I could use for the post and made my Instagram public. Soon, Shawn had made his post. He had posted a picture of us kissing with a view of the city behind us. He had tagged me in the post so his fans would be able to go to my account and follow me if they wanted to. I read his caption and smiled.

"'She was beautiful, but not like those girls in magazines. She was beautiful, for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She is beautiful.' - F. Scott Fitzgerald. Y/n, my sweet girl, happy five month anniversary. I love you LOTS!!! Now come give me a big ole smooch on the lips." Shawn captioned it. I laughed and put my lips on his.

"I love you." I said when we pulled away. He smiled at me.

"I love you too babe." He said. I then posted my picture of Shawn gently biting my cheek.

"'Y/n, you're so sweet that I could just eat you up.' - Shawn, right before this photo was taken. Happy five month anniversary to my best friend and favorite guy! I love you so, so, so much and I promise to give you all the kisses in the world." I captioned it. Shawn smiled when he saw the post.

"I love it." He said and then gave me a kiss.

"Mind if I post another one? I just feel like, you posted such a cute and beautiful caption and then I posted a silly one." I asked and said.

"That's fine babe. Do whatever your beautiful heart desires." He said. I blushed and then posted a black and white photo of us. We had been cuddling and I loved it.

"'I know we're young but we have the kind of love that could last forever. Let us grow together, have our roots intertwined, and our souls merged.' - Unknown." I captioned it. Shawn liked the post and then commented on it.

"I know that I'm sitting right next to you, but I LOVE YOU!" Shawn commented. I looked at him.

"You're the cutest." I said. Shawn shook his head.

"Nope, that's you. You know what you should do?" Shawn asked as I cozied into his side and put my head on his chest as he wrapped his arm around me.

"What?" I asked.

"You should put your Twitter, Snapchat and vsco in your Instagram bio." Shawn said. I looked up at him.

"Are you sure?" I asked. He kissed my forehead, and where he had just kissed was left feeling tingly even after his lips were no longer there.

"Yup." He said. I nodded my head against his chest.

"Okay. But I like cuddling with you like this." I said as I closed my eyes. Shawn chuckled and rubbed my arm.

"Do you want to stay like this for a bit and then do it?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yeah." I said.

"Okay baby. How about we watch some Supernatural tonight? Does that sound good sweetheart?" Shawn asked. I nodded.

"Yeah. I love you." I said.

"I love you too baby girl." He said before kissing the top of my head. Later on, I put a link to my vsco as the website in my Instagram, and I put my Twitter and Snapchat usernames in my Instagram bio. I gained followers on all of them pretty quickly. I immediately posted a Snapchat video of Shawn that he didn't know I was taking as we cuddled.

"Babe." I said. He looked and laughed.

"Are you snapchatting me?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yeah. I love you." I said. He kissed the side of my head and my smile widened.

"I love you too baby." He said. I stopped recording the Snapchat and saved it. Shawn and I laughed as we watched it.

"Do you mind if I post it?" I asked.

"That's fine with me my love. Want to watch another episode of Supernatural?" Shawn asked. I nodded my head against his side.

"Yeah. I like watching this with you and spending time with you." I said.

"Well that's good considering the fact that you're spending the summer with me." He said. I laughed as I looked up at him. I then paused the show, and straddled his lap. He rubbed my sides as I cupped his face. My heart swelled with love for this man. I kissed his forehead, then his nose, and then his lips. I then pulled away from the kiss a little bit so I could look at his handsome face.

"You're the best thing that's ever happened to me." I said. His smile widened as he moved his hands to my back and rubbed my back in small, soothing circles.

"Well that's good because you're the best thing that's ever happened to me too." He said. My own smile widened and then I buried my face in his neck.

"Can we cuddle forever? I love being in your arms." I asked and said. Shawn hummed before kissing the side of my head.

"That sounds amazing, just to cuddle forever. I love holding you in my arms honey." Shawn said. I kissed his cheek and then looked at him.

"Um, there's something that I want to say, and I feel like today is a good day to say it since it's our five month anniversary, but I don't know if it will sound weird." I said.

"It's okay baby. Say whatever you want." He said. I smiled and kissed his cheek. I then looked at him again and held his face as I spoke.

"There are times, and it seems to happen more and more now that we're becoming even closer and getting to know each other better, that um, I don't really know how to describe it." I said with a sigh.

"That's okay darling, just explain it as best as you can." Shawn said. I nodded, took a deep breath, and then began speaking.

"There are times when all I have to do is look at you, and maybe you're already looking at me, or maybe we're laying in your bed or something, but no matter where we are, it always feel the same. It's like, I just feel so filled with love for you and it's as if my heart could burst with my love for you. I know that we've been together for just five months, and I know that we haven't even known each other for a year, but I love you so damn much Shawn. I'm in love with you." I said. Shawn's smile widened and he put his lips on mine again. It was a loving and gentle kiss.

"I'm in love with you too." He said. I smiled.

"Cuddles?" I asked as I got off his lap. He nodded. I leaned into his side but we put Supernatural back on. I was too focused on the show to notice anything else that was going on. My phone lit up and I saw that Shawn had posted a picture on Instagram - it was a selfie that he had just taken of us. He was smiling at the camera, I was cuddled into his side, my arm wrapped around his torso as I watched Supernatural. I smiled, liked the photo, and read the caption.

"I'm so beyond in love with Y/n Y/l/n. I know that she's going to get hate from fans, and I don't like that, so please, if you're a true fan and you truly love and support me, don't send her hate. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me. She makes me happier than I've ever been in my whole life. She makes me smile and laugh more than I ever knew I could. We've known each other for nine months and have been dating for five months and in that time she's become my best friend. I love you so much Y/n Y/l/n - even when you're too busy watching Supernatural to realize that I'm taking a selfie." Shawn captioned it. I looked at him and smiled.

"Come here." I said and we kissed. I love Shawn so much and I'm so glad that we went public so we don't have to sneak around anymore.
