I was laying on the couch with my boyfriend of three years, Shawn Mendes. Shawn is a singer and a songwriter, and he's been away on tour, but he's finally home, causing me to be ecstatic. My head rested on Shawn's chest and I closed my eyes as I listened to his soothing heartbeat, the one that he claims only beats for me, causing me to feel special. I had one arm around his torso, and Shawn rubbed it with his hand. His other arm was around my back and shoulders. He placed a kiss on the top of my head and I hummed.

"I love you Shawn." I said.

"I love you too Y/n. I was actually just thinking about something, and I would like your opinion if that's okay?" Shawn asked. I picked my head up and looked at him.

"Of course it's okay. What's up honey?" I asked.

"What do you think of you and I going to the park nearby and doing a photoshoot with Josiah?" He asked. I smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. That would be nice." I said. He smiled.

"Good. I'll call Josiah later and tell him." He said.

"Do I need to dress up for it?" I asked. Shawn chewed at his bottom lip as he thought for a moment.

"Yeah, we can get a little dressed up." Shawn said. I nodded and then put my head back on his chest.

"Okay. I'll go out shopping tomorrow and get something nice." I said. Shawn rubbed my back.

"Okay baby. Do you want me to come with you?" He asked. I thought for a moment.

"No. I want it to be a surprise." I said. Shawn chuckled.

"Okay babe." Shawn said. Soon, we went to bed. The next day, Shawn called Josiah and made plans for us to go to the local park. I went to the store and bought a bright floral dress. Shawn loves anything that's floral, so I hope that he likes the dress too.

The following day, Shawn and I got ready to go to the park for our photoshoot. I put on the dress, white flats, and let my hair stay down. I put on some mascara, eye liner, and eyeshadow. I then stepped out of the bathroom and smiled at my handsome boyfriend. He was wearing a white button up shirt and black dress pants with black boots. He was trying to button his shirt, so I walked over to him.

"Here, let me help." I said. His eyes widened when he saw me.

"Oh my gosh darling, you look beautiful." He said. I blushed.

"Thank you. You look very handsome honey." I said. He blushed and smiled at me.

"I love you." He said. I looked into his eyes and hoped that he could see all of the love that I have for him as I smiled back at him.

"I love you too. So much honey." I said. He leaned forward and kissed my cheek, causing my smile to widen.

"You're so beautiful honey. You're the most beautiful when you're just wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants or shorts and you don't have any makeup on. You're the most beautiful girl in the world and I'm the luckiest man in the world." Shawn said.

"Thank you baby. You're the most handsome man in the world, and I'm the luckiest girl in the world. You make me feel like I'm a princess, like I'm living in a fairy tale." I said.

"Darling, you are my princess." Shawn said. I smiled at him as I finished fixing his shirt and the doorbell rang. Shawn and I went downstairs, and when we opened it, we saw Josiah.

"Hey guys. Y/n, you look so pretty!" He said. Shawn wrapped his arm around my waist securely.

"She's mine." Shawn said. Josiah put his hands up in a surrender.

"I was just complimenting her." Josiah said.

"Oh, I almost forgot something. I'll be right back." Shawn said before running upstairs. I heard him go into his office and then he came back down with nothing in his hands.

"Ready to go?" Josiah asked. We nodded.

"Yup. I'll drive since I don't think you know where the park is." Shawn said.

"Yeah I have no clue where it is." Josiah said as he got in the backseat. I sat in the front with Shawn and after he backed out of our driveway, he reached over and interlaced his fingers with mine. I felt electricity spark through me, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time.

"I can't wait to marry you someday babe." Shawn said. I smiled.

"I can't wait either. Do you think that you'll cry when I walk down the aisle?" I asked. Shawn chuckled and nodded.

"Probably. Our wedding day is going to be magical, I can just feel it." He said. I smiled.

"Well we have to get engaged first." I pointed out. Shawn nodded and then kissed my hand. We soon arrived at the park. As soon as we reached each other, Shawn gently grabbed my hand again. I took my other hand and wrapped it around his arm. Josiah was on the other side of Shawn.

"So where are we going to take these pictures?" Josiah asked.

"Well there's a big open field near a lake that's really pretty. Not as pretty as this gorgeous gal next to me, but still." Shawn said. I blushed and giggled. Shawn smiled at me.

"I love you Shawn." I said.

"I love you too Y/n." Shawn said.

"You two are disgustingly cute. I'm going to walk ahead of you guys a little bit so I can take candids of you guys interacting with each other." Josiah said. We nodded and Shawn and I talked to each other as we walked along.

"Baby, when I'm talking to you, it's like we're the only people in the world. You make me feel like I'm one of a kind, like I'm special, so thank you for that." I said. Shawn kissed my hand and I smiled at the gesture.

"Well my love, you are special, and you are one of a kind. Never forget that." Shawn said. I smiled.

"I might need reminders every once in a while if that's okay." I said. Shawn let go of my hand and wrapped his arm around my shoulders and I wrapped my arm around his waist.

"I will remind you every single day for the rest of our lives together if that's what you need." Shawn said. I smiled.

"You're amazing." I said. He kissed my temple and we finally arrived the spot that Shawn wanted. We took a bunch of pictures. Josiah had us pose so Shawn was lifting me up and my feet were kicked back. Shawn then set me down and wrapped his arms around my waist and I wrapped my arms around his shoulders as he leaned his forehead against mine. "I love you."

"I love you too darling." Shawn said. He then pulled away a little and got down on one knee. I put my hand to my mouth as I realized what was happening and happy tears formed in my eyes.

"Oh my gosh." I said. Shawn chuckled and took one of my hands in his. I was tempted to say yes right before he could say anything but I wanted to know what he had to say.

"Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n, I love you more than anything and anyone in this whole entire world. I fell for you the moment that I saw you, and I haven't stopped falling ever since then. My love for you grows with each and every day and each and every experience with you. You're the most beautiful girl that I've ever met, and you're so beyond amazing in every single way. I love how smart, kind, caring, compassionate, and loving, you are. You're my dream girl and no one and nothing gets better than you. I want you to be the mother of my kids someday and the grandmother to our grandkids someday. I promise you that I will wake up every morning and choose you over and over again. I love you, I love you, I love you. So, with all of that said, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" He asked. I nodded as I cried happy tears.

"Yes! Yes, yes, a million times yes!" I said. Shawn smiled at me. He took off my promise ring, put it in his pocket, and put on the most beautiful ring that I had ever seen. Shawn stood up and kissed me. This kiss felt different than our other kisses, but in a good way. My heart raced as if I had just run a marathon, I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, and I felt sparks shoot through my body like fireworks. Shawn then pulled away and rested his forehead against mine as we smiled at each other.

"I love you darling. Thank you for saying yes." Shawn said.

"You're welcome honey. I love you too. Oh my gosh, I get to marry you! Shawn we're going to get married!" I said as I pulled away a little. Shawn chuckled and nodded.

"Yup. We get to spend the rest of our lives together babe." Shawn said.

"I can't wait. I get to marry my best friend." I said with a huge smile as I admired my ring.

"Hey, don't forget that I get to marry my best friend too!" Shawn said and I looked up at him as I giggled. I then hugged him.

"This is amazing." I said. He rubbed my back.

"Do you like the ring honey? Because if you don't, I can get you a new one." Shawn asked and said. I shook my head and looked at my ring again.

"No, I love it. It's so beautiful." I said. Shawn kissed my forehead and let his lips linger, which is his way of saying I love you. I closed my eyes at the warm feeling of his lips and smiled. I then heard the click of a camera. I had completely forgotten about Josiah!

"Do you guys want to do an engagement photoshoot?" Josiah asked. I looked at Shawn.

"I think we should." I said. He nodded at me and then looked at Josiah.

"Yeah, let's do that." Shawn said, and we took more pictures. We soon went back to the house so Josiah could get his car and head back to the hotel. He promised to come back over the next day so we could look at all of the photos together. Shawn helped me get changed into a t-shirt and shorts, and he got changed into basketball shorts and a t-shirt too. We then sat on the couch and cuddled up to each other.

"I'm so excited. Should we tell our families tomorrow?" I asked. He kissed the top of my head and nodded.

"Yeah. I love you darling and I can't wait to marry you." He said. I looked up at him and kissed him, and of course he kissed back. When we pulled away, we laid down on the couch and I put my head on his chest.

"I love you too Shawn, and I can't wait either." I said. He kissed the top of my head and I smiled.

The next day we Facetimed his parents, Karen and Manny, and his little sister Aaliyah.

"Hello guys. To what do we owe the pleasure?" Karen asked. I looked at Shawn and he nodded. I held up my hand and they all screamed and smiled.

"We're engaged!" Shawn said.

"Congratulations!" They all said, and we thanked them.

"So how did you do it Shawn?" Karen asked as she wiped away happy tears. I put one of my hands on Shawn's knee and he wrapped his arm around me.

"Well, we were doing a photoshoot at a park with Josiah yesterday and then I got down on one knee and made a speech and luckily she said yes." Shawn said with a smile.

"What did you say during the speech?" Aaliyah asked. I looked at Shawn.

"I think that we'll keep that to ourselves but I basically told her how much I love her and stuff like that." Shawn said. I nodded and then looked at my future in-laws.

"What he said was so beautiful. As soon as I saw him getting down on one knee and I realized what he was doing, I immediately wanted to say yes but I knew that whatever he said was going to be beautiful so I wanted to hear it." I said. Shawn kissed my cheek and I turned and looked at him with a smile.

"I love you. You make me the happiest man in the world." Shawn said. My smile widened.

"I love you too and you make me the happiest woman in the world." I said. Shawn kissed me quickly.

"Ewwww, I don't want to see my brother kissing." Aaliyah said.

"Sorry chica, but you'll be seeing a lot of it, especially at the wedding." Shawn said and I blushed. We soon said goodbye to them and hung up. Next, we headed to the house that I grew up in. My mom, my brother, and my dad were there. I smiled at them and then held up my hand.

"We're engaged!" I said. My mom cried as she hugged us and Shawn and I hugged everyone before sitting down.

"Congratulations. How did you propose Shawn?" My mom asked. I looked at him and smiled as he told the story again.

"It was wonderful and beautiful. There's nothing that could have made it better." I said and Shawn kissed my cheek repeatedly, causing me to laugh and squeal like crazy.

"I can't get enough of you. I adore you." Shawn said in between kisses. He then pulled away and smiled at me.

"Well I adore you too and I can't get enough of you either babe." I said. Shawn's smile widened. I then leaned on him and we talked to my family for a few minutes before Shawn's phone rang. He talked to the person, hung up, and then looked at me.

"Josiah wants to meet at the house so we can look at the photos." He said. I nodded.

"Okay." I said. Shawn and I then said goodbye to my family and went home, where Josiah was waiting. We went inside and I smiled as I looked at the pictures. Shawn and I picked a few that we would post to announce our engagement. Josiah emailed them to us, and we saved them to our phones. After Josiah left, we called and texted our friends to tell them the news. I then saw that Shawn had tagged me in a tweet.

"Hey @yourusername I think we have an announcement coming soon, don't we?" He tweeted. I quote retweeted it.

"Yes, I believe we do babe." I said. Shawn then smiled at me when he saw that tweet.

"So tomorrow we'll announce to the world that you're mine forever?" Shawn asked when we got into bed that night. I suddenly became nervous.

"Um, yeah." I said. Shawn turned on the light and put his hand to my cheek. He rubbed it with his thumb.

"What's wrong my love?" He asked.

"Well, some of your fans don't like me. How are they going to react?" I asked. Shawn frowned a little.

"Baby, who cares about that? The way I see it is, as long as it's you and I in the end, I'm happy. Are you happy?" He asked with curious eyes. I nodded my head almost violently.

"Yes, oh my gosh, I've never been this happy in my life. I just don't like getting hate from fans, or from anyone really." I said. Shawn nodded as he continued to rub my cheek.

"I know darling. But we're happy, and that's all that matters, okay?" He asked. I nodded.

"Okay." I said.

"Good night darling. I love you." He said as he turned off the light. I cuddled up to him.

"Good night Shawny. I love you too." I said. The next day Shawn posted a series of pictures of him and I hugging, and then him down on one knee as I cried and he made his speech, and then us kissing after I said yes. I read the caption.

"Yesterday Y/n and I tweeted that we had an announcement. Well, here it is! Y/n Y/l/n, I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I am thankful beyond words for the fact that you said yes to becoming my wife. I love you so much and I can't wait to wake up to your gorgeous face everyday for the rest of our lives. Ever seen you came into my life, I can't imagine life without you. It's as if I was living in black and white, and then once I saw you, everything became colorized. I love you darling, and I can't wait to marry you." Shawn wrote. I smiled at his caption and then at him, and liked the photo.

I posted a picture of Shawn down on one knee, us kissing after I said yes, and then a couple of the photos that Josiah had taken afterwards. I wrote a caption.

"Last week Shawn asked if I wanted to do a photoshoot with him and that Josiah would take the photos. During the photoshoot, Shawn, my amazing best friend, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes! Shawn, my darling, I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. You make me happier than I've ever been in my whole entire life, and everything is better with you. I swear that I fall for you more and more every single day. I love you Shawn Mendes." I wrote. Shawn liked the post and then smiled at me.

"Come here honey." Shawn said as he laid down on the couch. I laid down too and put my head on his chest.

"We're engaged Shawn. We're going to get married." I said. He kissed the top of my head.

"I can't wait darling." He said. I then picked my head up and looked at him.

"Shawn?" I asked as I rubbed his chest. He looked at me with so much love in his eyes, making me smile.

"Yes my love?" He asked.

"Um, when we get married, could I take your last name?" I asked slightly nervously. Shawn's eyes widened.

"You want my last name? You want to be a Mendes?" He asked. I nodded

"Yes. But only if that's okay with you." I said. He held me close to him.

"Oh my gosh of course it's okay with me. It's more than okay. It's perfect. Take it, have it, take my last name babe. Just know that you're going to have it for the rest of your life." Shawn said. I smiled at him and kissed him. He kissed back with so much love and passion.

"I love you honey." I said.

"I love you too future Y/n Mendes. God that sounds amazing." He said and I giggled.

"It does. Oh Shawn I can't wait." I said.

"Me either." He said. I put my head on his chest and we cuddled. I can't wait to be Y/n Mendes.
