I laid in the hospital bed trying to sleep. Just a few hours ago, I had given birth to mine and my husband's first child, Rose Lucille Mendes. She's the most beautiful little girl and Shawn and I are already in love with her. She already has us wrapped around her little fingers. All of the sudden I felt like I was going to puke really bad.

"Shawn." I said. He had been sitting in the chair next to my bed. He woke up.

"What's up honey?" He asked.

"Puke." I said. His eyes widened and he looked around the room before he found a bucket that I could puke in. I threw up, and it was a lot. I then sat back when I was done puking.

"What happened?" He asked. I shrugged.

"I don't know, it just came on all of the sudden and - AHHH." I yelled. Shawn's eyes widened again.

"What just happened?" He asked.

"My stomach hurts really bad." I said as I screwed my eyes shut because of the pain.

"On a scale of one to ten, ten being the worst pain you've ever felt, how bad is it?" Shawn asked. I thought for a moment.

"Eight and a half." I said. My eyes were still shut.

"I'm going to grab a nurse, I'll be right back." Shawn said. I opened my eyes and grabbed his hand.

"No! Please stay with me. AHHH. There's a call nurse button, just hit that." I said. Shawn thought for a moment.

"Honey, it would be easier if I grabbed someone." Shawn said.

"Baby please, I'm scared and I don't want to be without you right now." I said. Shawn nodded before hitting the call nurse button. I nurse soon came in.

"Hi Mr. and Mrs. Mendes, what's going on?" She asked. That's when a wave of pain hit me.

"AHHHHH MY STOMACH." I yelled.

"Okay, I'm going to push on your stomach a little, tell me if it hurts okay?" She asked. I nodded and gripped Shawn's hand tightly. She then pushed down on a certain spot and I almost couldn't handle the pain - even though I had just given birth a few hours earlier.

"AHHHH PLEASE STOP." I yelled.

"Okay, I'm going to grab the doctor, I'll be right back." The nurse said before she left. I looked at Shawn with tears in my eyes.

"I'm scared." I said. Shawn nodded.

"I know you are honey, but I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere, okay?" He asked.

"You promise?" I asked. He nodded before kissed my forehead.

"I promise." He said. I nodded.

"Okay." I said. The doctor came in and after a couple of tests, they told me that I had gotten appendicitis and had to do surgery.

"Let's bring you into surgery right now." The doctor said.

"What? No, my husband needs to know. I need to see my husband." I pleaded. All of the sudden my anxiety was kicking into high gear.

"Mrs. Mendes we need to bring you into surgery." The doctor said.

"I WANT MY HUSBAND RIGHT NOW!" I yelled. I was in a lot of pain, I was very anxious, and I needed Shawn.

"Fine." The doctor said before leaving the room and bringing Shawn in.

"What's going on love?" Shawn asked.

"I have appendicitis and they almost took me into surgery without telling you so I screamed at them." I said. Shawn's eyes widened and he nodded. He then turned to the doctor and nurses.

"I am her husband so I want to know what's going on when it's going on. My wife has anxiety and obviously she isn't in a good place right now. I want to be kept updated on what's going on. The fact that she had to scream at you guys in order for you to finally get me is terrible." Shawn said. He then turned to me and kissed my forehead. "You'll be okay honey. Rose is in the nursery and I'll be in the waiting room." Shawn said. I nodded.

"Okay. I love you." I said. Shawn smiled.

"I love you too." Shawn said. He then turned to the doctors. "Please, please, please grab me as soon as you guys are done and keep me updated." Shawn said and everyone in the room nodded. I felt scared so I squeezed Shawn's hand.

"I'm scared." I said. Shawn kissed my forehead.

"I know you are, but you just went through a lot of pain giving birth, you can go through some pain again. I need you to be strong not only for me, but for Rose too, can you do that for us please?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yeah." I said.

"Thank you." He said. I nodded and then they took me into surgery. I kept thinking of Shawn and Rose the whole time that they were getting me ready for surgery. I just wanted them. Soon, they gave me anesthesia and I was out.

Shawn's point of view

"Yeah she was like, screaming in pain. I felt so useless, but she's in surgery now." I told my mother in law.

"Okay, I'm at my house with your father in law and your parents, should we come back?" Y/m/n asked. I thought for a moment.

"I don't know, that's up to you guys. There's really nothing that we can do but sit and wait. I mean, I want to go see Rose in the nursery but I'm worried that if I leave this waiting room, what if they come out and have news for me and I'm not here?" I asked as I ran my fingers through my hair.

"Shawn, it's okay. Just stay in the waiting room and wait for updates." Y/m/n said. I nodded even though my mother in law couldn't see me.

"Okay. I don't like the fact that they almost didn't tell me what was going on. It literally took her screaming at them for them to finally come out and get me. She's my wife and I want to know what's going on. She just went through the pain of labor, and now she's in pain all over again. My poor wife." I said.

"I know. Just breathe and keep us updated please." Y/m/n said.

"Okay. I will." I said and we soon hung up. I then got up and paced around before sitting down again. An hour later, a nurse came out and looked around the waiting room.

"Mr. Mendes?" She asked. I stood up and walked over to her.

"How is she?" I asked.

"Much better. Surgery was successful and she's asking for you." The nurse said. I nodded and she brought me into see my wife. Y/n gave me a tired smile when she saw me and I smiled back.

"Hey there wifey. How are you feeling?" I asked.

"Better. The doctors said that I have to stay here for a couple more days and then once I go home I have to be on bed rest for two weeks." Y/n said. I nodded.

"Okay. We'll get you all better, okay?" I asked. She nodded and I kissed her forehead.

"Do my parents know that I got appendicitis?" Y/n asked. I nodded as I sat down on the bed with her.

"Yup. I called and told them." I said. She nodded.

"We're going to move her into a different room now Mr. Mendes." The nurse said. I nodded.

"Can I walk with you guys please?" I asked. They nodded and I held my wife's hand as we walked to another room. Once we got to the room, I called Y/n's parents and told her that surgery went well and they were happy.

"When they were getting me ready for surgery, I just kept thinking of you and Rose. Shawn, you're my rock. I'm sorry that they almost took me into surgery without telling you." Y/n said. I frowned.

"It's not your fault honey. Everything's okay. Do you want me to check on Rose?" I asked. Y/n nodded and I went down to the nursery. Other dad's were standing outside the window, looking at their newborns. I spotted Rose and smiled.

"Which one is yours?" Some guy asked me. I pointed at Rose.

"Rose Lucille Mendes, in the middle row." I said with a smile. The guy nodded.

"My niece is actually a big fan of a singer named Shawn Mendes and I'm pretty sure that his wife is pregnant." The guy said. I smiled.

"Yeah. So what do you think of Shawn Mendes's music?" I asked, curious for an outsider's opinion on my music. The guy shrugged.

"I haven't really listened to it much, but from what I have heard, he's pretty good." He said.

"Thank you." I said. The guy gave me a funny look and I realized what I had said.

"Why are you saying thank you?" He asked.

"I'm Shawn Mendes." I said, sticking out my hand for him to shake. His eyes widened as he shook my hand and said his name.

"Wait, you can't be serious." He said.

"Google Shawn Mendes and a picture of me will come up." I said. The guy did it and his eyes went wide again.

"Woah. Can I get a picture with you please?" He asked. I smiled and nodded. He thanked me.

"You're welcome. By the way, please don't tell anyone, even your niece, that we had the baby. We're going to announce her arrival tomorrow." I said. The guy nodded.

"Okay." He said. I thanked him, took one last look at Rose, and then went back to my wife. She was asleep, so I sat in the chair next to her bed, gently grabbed her hand, and rubbed circles on it with my thumb. She soon stirred and looked at me.

"Hey there handsome. How's Rosie?" She asked. I got up and sat on the bed with her.

"Hey gorgeous. She's good." I said. I then told my wife the story of what had just happened with the guy and she laughed. She then looked at me with such a loving gaze that I couldn't resist the beautiful temptation of her lips. I put my lips on hers and felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt sparks shoot through my body like fireworks, and I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my stomach. Y/n and I pulled away and smiled at each other.

"Come lay with me honey." She said. I nodded and got underneath the covers with her. A couple of days later I was able to take my wife and my newborn daughter home, and after two weeks, Y/n was no longer on bedrest and she was able to get up and move around the house. I love my wife and daughter so much. I'm so glad that my wife is better.
