I called my boyfriend of three and a half years, Shawn Mendes. I'm a famous singer, and I'm about to go on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Shawn answered pretty quickly.

"Hey baby girl." Shawn said. I smiled.

"Hi honey. I just wanted to let you know that I'm about to go on." I said.

"Okay honey. I'll talk to you afterwards, okay?" He asked. I nodded even though he couldn't see me.

"Okay. I love and miss you." I said.

"I love and miss you too darling." He said, and then we hung up. Jimmy then introduced me and I walked out and sat down.

"Hey Y/n, how are you?" He asked. I smiled.

"I'm good, how are you?" I asked.

"I'm good. So, before we get to your music, how long have you been dating the singer Shawn Mendes now?" Jimmy asked. My smile widened.

"Three and a half wonderful years." I said.

"How did you guys meet?" Jimmy asked.

"So, we were at an awards show and my manager was like 'There's someone that wants to meet you.' so I walk over and it's Shawn Mendes and I'm like 'holy... crap.'" I said.

"Did you actually say crap?" Jimmy asked with a laugh. I shook my head and laughed.

"No, I said another word. But you have to understand that I had been a fan of his for years and I had had this major crush on him for so long, so when I met him, oh my gosh, I was fangirling so hard but I held it in." I said.

"So what did you say to him?" Jimmy asked.

"I asked him for a hug, and he said yes and he said that he had a major crush on me and he was like 'I know that we just met, but I would love to trade numbers with you and take you out on a date sometime.' and I was like 'Yeah! I would love that!' and the rest is history." I said, causing the crowd to cheer.

"So you're telling me that he asked you out right when he met you?" Jimmy asked. I laughed and nodded.

"Yeah. But I'm glad he did because I'm so beyond happy with him." I said with a smile.

"So how long has it been since you've seen him?" Jimmy asked. I thought for a moment.

"About a month. Which sucks because obviously I love him and I want to be with him, but we're both doing our own things right now." I said, the smile no longer on my face.

"How much longer until you get to see him again?" Jimmy asked.

"I have to wait another month before I can see my amazing boyfriend again." I said.

"Well if you look over there, you might see something that you like." Jimmy said as he pointed at something I looked and there was Shawn. He was wearing a red shirt and black pants and he had pink tulips in his hands. He smiled at me as he walked over to me and I stood up.

"Oh my gosh, hi." I said as I hugged him.

"Hi honey. Surprise!" He said, and I giggled. He swayed us a little and then kissed my cheek before pulling away from the hug.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Well I know that we've missed each other, so I wanted to surprise you. Oh, these are for you." Shawn said as he handed me the flowers. I smiled.

"Thank you so much. Oh my gosh." I said. Shawn and Jimmy bro hugged and then we all sat back down.

"So Y/n, how does it feel to be with Shawn again?" Jimmy asked. Shawn then reached his hand out for mine and we interlaced our fingers. I smiled at the feeling of safety and warmth that his touch gave me.

"Really, really, great. I'm very happy right now." I said.

"Shawn how does it feel for you to be reunited with Y/n again?" Jimmy asked and I looked over at my amazingly gorgeous and handsome boyfriend. He smiled.

"Absolutely amazing. She's my best friend and my everything so it's really hard to be away from her." Shawn said. He then kissed my hand, and I smiled.

"You guys are disgustingly cute." Jimmy said. We laughed.

"I have to say, it used to be that I was my happiest when I was on stage, but now, and it's been like this for the past three and a half years, I'm my happiest when I'm with her." Shawn said. I blushed and the crowd went "awww".

"I feel the same way." I said. Jimmy smiled at us.

"So when you guys are writing your own music, are you thinking of each other?" Jimmy asked. Shawn and I nodded.

"Definitely." Shawn said.

"Absolutely. He's my inspiration for everything that I do. I remember when we first started to date, I wrote that song, Found, which is basically about finally finding the one that you want to spend the rest of your life with." I said.

"So you want to spend the rest of your life with Shawn?" Jimmy asked. I nodded.

"Definitely." I said. I then heard the crowd cheer, so I looked at them, and then I saw something that made me cry happy tears: Shawn was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. He motioned for me to stand up and I did. "Oh my gosh." I said, and we had to wait a moment for the crowd to calm down.

"Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n, I've loved you from the moment that I laid eyes on you, and I know that that love is never going to end. I want to wake up every morning with your beautiful face next to me, and I want to fall asleep with you in my arms every night. You make me happier than I've ever been in my whole life and the only other girl that I'm going to want besides you is a girl that's going to call you Mommy and me Daddy. Will you continue to make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" Shawn asked. I cried and nodded.

"Yes, Shawn, yes I will marry you!" I said, causing Shawn to smile the crowd to cheer. Shawn put the ring on my finger and stood up to kiss me. Our lips moved in sync as I felt my heart race as if it were about to beat out of my chest, I felt sparks shoot through my like fireworks, and I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy. Shawn and I pulled away and he rested his forehead against mine as we smiled at each other.

"We're going to get married!" Shawn said. I giggled.

"Yeah we are!" I said. Shawn kissed me again and we hugged. Finally, we pulled away and sat down.

"Congratulations guys!" Jimmy said.

"Thank you." Shawn said.

"Thank you! Oh my gosh, I have to try and stop crying now." I said and the crowd laughed.

"Shawn were you nervous?" Jimmy asked. I looked at Shawn and as he wiped my tears away he answered the question.

"A little bit. I mean, we've talked about our future together before, but still. But thank God she said yes." Shawn said as he finished wiping away my tears.

"Do you guys feel like you're on top of the world right now?" Jimmy asked. We smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. Babe do you like the ring?" Shawn asked. I looked at it and smiled as I nodded.

"I love it! It's absolutely beautiful." I said as I admired it. Shawn kissed my cheek. Soon the interview came to an end and Jimmy congratulated us again. Shawn and I soon went back to his hotel and got changed into more comfortable clothes. Our family and friends called us and texted us to congratulate us. Shawn then posted a picture of the proposal that his photographer, Josiah, had taken. I read the caption.

"Earlier tonight I surprised my best friend and asked her to marry me, and thank God she said yes. Thank you Jimmy for giving me the opportunity to do this on your show. And to you Y/n Y/l/n, thank you for being my best friend, my soulmate, my everything. I love you more than anything and I can't wait to marry you my love." Shawn captioned it. I liked the photo and then posted a picture that Josiah had taken. I had just said yes and it was when Shawn and I were kissing.

"I get to marry my best friend! Thank you Jimmy Fallon for letting Shawn propose to me on your show, thank you Josiah for taking the pictures, and a huge thank you to Shawn for everything. I've loved you for a very long time and that love is going to last forever. I never want to be without you and I can't wait to marry you. I love you deeper than the deepest of oceans and higher than the highest mountains. I love you Shawn Mendes, thank you for being my soulmate, my best friend, my rock, my protector, my everything." I wrote. Shawn smiled at the caption and liked the photo.

"Come cuddle with me baby girl." Shawn said, and I gladly did. I put my head on his chest and he wrapped his arms around me.

"I love you Shawn, good night." I said. He kissed the top of my head.

"I love you too Y/n, good night." He said. I'm so happy that Shawn proposed and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
