137. It's Your Birthday
A/n: Sooo today is my birthday so I decided to make this! Anyways, I hope that you guys enjoy this imagine. Okay, without further ado, let's begin!
I woke up in the morning to my husband's side of the bed empty. My husband is the singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes. Wait, today's my birthday and it's the first time that I'll be celebrating my birthday as a married woman. Did Shawn forget my birthday? I got out of bed and got dressed and went downstairs. I smiled when I saw Shawn in the kitchen making me something.
"Hey there good looking." I said. Shawn turned to me with wide eyes and he smiled at me.
"Hey beautiful. Happy birthday my love." Shawn said. I smiled and walked over to him.
"Thank you honey. I woke up without you." I said as I wrapped my arms around him from behind.
"I know, I'm sorry honey, I was going to make you breakfast in bed." Shawn said.
"It's okay. I'm sorry that I ruined it." I said. Shawn immediately turned around.
"Birthday girl, you didn't ruin anything. I promise. Do you want to have counter talks?" Shawn asked. I smiled and nodded. Shawn picked me up and put me on the counter. Counter talks are when Shawn puts me on the counter and we talk. I looked at my handsome husband and then gasped as I realized something. He looked at me, alarmed, and I felt bad for making him feel that way. "What? What's wrong?"
"Today is the first time that I'm celebrating my birthday as Y/n Mendes! Oh my gosh! My whole life I've celebrated my birthday as Y/n Y/l/n and now I'm celebrating it as Y/n Mendes!" I said and Shawn laughed.
"Does that make you happy darling?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"Yes! It makes me extremely happy! Wait why do the pancakes look different?" I asked. Shawn smiled.
"Well, I went out while you were sleeping - surprisingly there was a store open - and I got this confetti pancake batter. Do you like it?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yes, I like it a lot." I said. Shawn smiled.
"Good. So, my darling birthday girl, how does it feel to be twenty six years old?" Shawn asked. I laughed and then thought for a moment.
"I like it. But here's the thing: as long as I'm with you, I'm happy. I don't care what age I am, I just want to be with you." I said and Shawn smiled at me.
"Well darling, someday we'll be celebrating your ninetieth birthday together." Shawn said and I smiled.
"I can't wait darling. Next month will be one year since we got married. Can you believe it?" I asked. Shawn put the pancakes on two plates and chuckled as he shook his head.
"No, it feels like just yesterday we were saying I do." He said as he walked over to stand in between my legs. He put his hands on my thighs and I put my hands on his shoulders and smiled at him. I nodded.
"Yup. Now, my amazing hubby, do I get a birthday kiss?" I asked.
"Well, my amazing wifey, how about I give you twenty six kisses, one for each year of your life?" Shawn asked and I nodded. He pecked my lips quickly twenty five times, but the twenty sixth kiss was more loving. I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt a butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, and I felt sparks shoot through my body like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Shawn and I pulled away and smiled at each other.
"I love you." I said. Shawn's smile widened.
"I love you too darling. Do you mind if I post something on Instagram for your birthday?" Shawn asked. I shook my head.
"Not at all babe." I said. He smiled at me.
"Okay. Later tonight I'm taking you out for dinner, and I already got you a dress for that, and then we'll come home and I have red velvet cake ready for you, so when you're blowing out the candles I'll take a picture then and post that. Is that okay?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"Yes but you don't have to take me out to dinner and do all of this stuff." I said. Shawn looked shocked.
"Y/n Mendes, you are my wife so of course I'm going to do stuff for you." Shawn said and I nodded.
"Okay. Thank you Shawn." I said.
"You're welcome my love. Are you ready to eat?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah." I said. He helped me off the counter and we had breakfast. I moaned when I took a bite and Shawn smiled at me.
"Do you like it?" He asked.
"Oh my gosh. Let's stop with the regular pancake batter, I like this one better." I said.
"Well my love, how about we switch it up? Like, what if once a month we do this pancake batter and then regular pancakes the rest of the time?" He asked. I nodded.
"Okay." I said. Later on, Shawn went upstairs and came back down with a bag. He handed me the bag.
"Happy birthday my love." Shawn said. I smiled at him and opened up the bag and my jaw dropped.
"Oh my gosh. How did you know that I wanted these books?" I asked as I pulled some books out of the bag and smiled. Shawn sat down next to me.
"Well darling," He kissed my cheek before he continued. "I have the password to your goodreads account, so I'm able to check the section that has the books that you want to read."
"Oh my gosh, thank you so much Shawn." I said.
"You're welcome darling. I got all twelve of the books on the list." He said. I smiled at him.
"You're too good to me Shawn Mendes." I said. He placed a gentle kiss on my lips.
"Other way around babe. And there's more stuff in the bag." Shawn said. I looked and noticed that there was something from Zales. I looked at Shawn.
"No Shawn, Zales is too much." I said. Shawn shook his head. He rubbed my cheek with his thumb and I liked the feeling of his wedding ring, which I obviously put on him, on my skin.
"Nothing is too much for you my love." Shawn said. I smiled and kissed his cheek. I then opened up the box and saw a beautiful necklace. I gasped. It was a diamond open circle heartbeat necklace. Tears formed in my eyes.
"Oh Shawn it's beautiful." I said. He kissed my cheek.
"It may be beautiful but not as beautiful as you. Do you want to know why, out of all of the necklaces they had at Zales, I chose this one?" Shawn asked. I nodded and smiled as I wiped my happy tears away.
"Yeah. Why this one?" I asked.
"Because these lines are supposed to symbolize a heartbeat. Can I see your hand for a second babe? The one with your wedding ring on it?" He asked. I nodded and gave it to him.
"Yeah." I said. He took my hand and put it over his heart.
"I picked that necklace because my heart beats for you and only you. You're the love of my life darling and I'm so happy that we're married and that we get to spend the rest of our lives together. Happy birthday, my beautiful girl." Shawn said. I threw my arms around him and hugged him.
"Thank you so much Shawn. Oh my gosh I love it and I love you." I said. We pulled away from the hug.
"You're welcome and I love you too." He said.
"Will you put it on me please?" I asked. He nodded and took the necklace out of the box. I turned so my back was to him. He moved my hair out of the way and then put the necklace on me. He kissed my shoulder.
"There you go darling." Shawn said.
"Thank you. Do you mind if I lean back against you?" I asked.
"Not at all darling. Come here." He said. He sat behind me and opened his legs a little. I sat in between them and leaned back so my back was against his chest and I rested my head against his shoulder. He kissed my cheek repeatedly, causing me to laugh and squeal as he wrapped his arms around me. He then stopped and rested his head against mine.
"I like moments like this." I said after a few moments of silence.
"Moments like what?" He asked.
"Where it's just the two of us and we're cuddling or something. There's no Andrew or Josiah or any friends or family around, and it's just quiet, peaceful moments between just the two of us." I said. Shawn kissed the side of my head.
"I like these moments too. Mrs. Mendes?" Shawn asked and even though it had been almost eleven months since I had become Mrs. Mendes, my kind of new last name still made my heart flutter as I smiled.
"Yes Mr. Mendes?" I asked.
"Do you mind if I play with your wedding ring?" Shawn asked. I smiled even wider.
"Oh Shawn, my love, you never have to ask. If you randomly grabbed my hand and started to play with my ring I wouldn't mind it at all. Do you mind it when I play with your wedding ring?" I asked. I felt Shawn shake his head since it was up against my head.
"No, I love it when you play with my ring." He said as he reached out for my hand and started to play with the ring.
"I still remember you putting this on me." I said.
"I remember that too. Our wedding day was the best day ever." Shawn said and I nodded as I watched his hands play with my ring.
"Yup. That day was so beautiful and so fun." I said and he nodded. Soon, he had me go upstairs and get changed into the dress that he got me. I smiled. It was a pink v-neck A-line dress and I loved it. I put on white heels, did some of my makeup - just eyeliner, mascara, and eye shadow - and stepped out of the bathroom. Shawn was dressed up in black dress pants and a white button down. His eyes widened when he saw me.
"Oh my gosh darling. You look gorgeous." Shawn said and I blushed.
"Thank you baby. Your buttons are messed up, let me fix it." I said as I walked over to him. I started to fix his buttons and I could feel his eyes studying my face.
"So beautiful." Shawn whispered and I blushed and looked at him as I finished fixing his buttons. I put my hand to his cheek and rubbed it with my thumb.
"So handsome." I whispered and he smiled before ducking down and capturing my lips with his. We soon pulled away.
"We should get going or we'll be late." Shawn said.
"Okay, let me just grab my purse." I said.
"Why do you need your purse?" Shawn asked.
"For my wallet. I'll pay for the tip." I said. Shawn's eyes widened and he pulled me close to him.
"Mrs. Mendes, it's your birthday. Do you really think that I'm going to let my wife pay for her anything that has to do with her birthday?" He asked.
"Oh come on! Please?" I asked. He chuckled and shook his head and then guided me out to the car. I crossed my arms when we got in the car.
"Why are you pouting baby?" Shawn asked.
"Because you won't let me pay for anything, not even the tip." I said. Shawn laughed.
"My love, it's your birthday. Let me treat you." He said. I sighed.
"Okay." I said and then held out my hand. We interlaced our fingers and as our skin touched, I felt electricity spark through me, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time.
"You look so beautiful honey." Shawn said and I blushed again.
"Thank you. You look so handsome." I said and Shawn smiled. I then began to trace the bird tattoo on his hand, which was in my lap.
"You like to trace my tattoos, don't you?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"Yeah." I said.
"What's your favorite tattoo of mine?" Shawn asked. I smiled.
"The one that's underneath your wedding ring." I said. I looked at him as he smiled.
"You mean your initials?" He asked. I nodded as we pulled up to the restaurant.
"Yup." I said. He smiled and we walked in.
"The reservations are under Mendes." Shawn said to the waitress. We were soon brought to a table and seated.
"Thank you for this honey." I said after we ordered our food and drinks. Shawn smiled at me and looked at me with so much love.
"You're welcome. I would do anything for you, you know that." Shawn said and I nodded. We talked a little bit and then our food and drinks arrived. A thought popped into my head and I looked at my beyond handsome husband.
"Shawn?" I asked. He looked up from his food and smiled at me.
"Yes birthday girl?" Shawn asked. I smiled and leaned forward.
"When we have kids, do you think that you'll get a tattoo that has to do with them?" I asked. He nodded.
"Definitely. I would probably get their birthday or their name or maybe both. I can't wait to have kids with you honey. We'll start trying on our one year anniversary, right?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"Yup. Are you going to get me pregnant, Mendes?" I asked teasingly. Shawn smiled and nodded.
"Yup. I'm going to put a baby in your belly someday." Shawn said and I smiled. Soon, dinner was over and Shawn sang happy birthday to me when we got home and he gave me some red velvet cake with a candle in it. He took a picture of me blowing out the candle as I made my wish. He then clapped when I blew out the candle.
"Thank you for today honey." I said as we ate some cake. Shawn smiled at me. Later on, my phone dinged and I checked it. Shawn had posted the photo of me blowing out the candle. I liked the photo and then read the caption.
"Happy twenty-sixth birthday to my amazing wife. This is our first year celebrating your birthday since you've become Mrs. Mendes! Y/n, my love, you light up my whole world and you're my everything. I'm so glad that you liked your presents, the dress, and dinner. You have my whole heart, and my heart beats for you and only you - that will change when we have kids but we have time before that happens. I love you so much darling. Happy birthday baby girl." Shawn wrote. I smiled at him.
"Oh honey, I love it." I said as I cuddled up to him.
"Good, I'm glad. So, when you blew out the candle, what did you wish for?" Shawn asked. I giggled.
"I can't tell you or else it won't come true!" I said. Shawn groaned.
"Fine." He said and I laughed. I tweeted a thank you for all of the birthday wishes later on. I love Shawn so much and I'm so beyond grateful for him.
Oh, and what did I wish for? I wished to have Shawn's babies when we're ready to, and that they're happy and healthy.
Shawn's present to you:
