A/n: Hi guys, so this imagine has pictures at the end, those pictures are what Shawn put in the scrapbook. I hope that you guys enjoy this imagine! Okay, let's begin!
Shawn's point of view
"What do you want for our anniversary baby girl?" I asked my loving girlfriend of almost three years, Y/n Y/l/n as we sat at our kitchen table eating breakfast. She smiled at me.
"Shawn I don't need you to get me anything. I just want you." She said. I groaned, causing her to laugh.
"But I want to get you something." I whined.
"Get me yourself. That's all I want. Plus, our anniversary isn't even for another month anyways." She said. I nodded.
"Okay. I know. I just want to have the right thing for you." I said. Y/n got out of her seat, walked over to me, and sat on my lap. She ran her fingers through my hair, causing me to smile.
"I don't want you to get me anything, but if you do get me something, I'm going to love whatever it is. Okay honey?" She said and asked. I nodded.
"Okay. Come give me a kiss." I requested and puckered my lips. Y/n laughed before putting her lips on mine. I felt sparks shoot through my body like fireworks, I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, and I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my stomach. Y/n makes my knees weak. Her and I have the type of love that people write stories about, and I know that her and I are going to be together forever. We pulled away from the kiss, breathless and smiling.
"I love you Shawn Mendes." Y/n said. My smile widened.
"I love you too Y/n Y/l/n. You know, some day you're going to be Y/n Mendes." I said. Y/n's smile grew.
"Really?" She asked. I chuckled.
"Honey, I literally bought a whole damn house with you and I'm so beyond in love with you. Of course I'm going to marry you someday." I said. Y/n leaned her forehead against mine and I started to rub her back.
"Well, I promise you that when you ask me to be your wife, I'll say yes. I'm so beyond in love with you." She said as she gently ran her fingers through my hair. I leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on her lips before pulling away.
"Are you all done eating?" I asked. She nodded.
"Yeah. Are you?" She asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. I'll get the dishes." I said.
"No, I can get them." She said.
"Babe, you always get them. Let me do it for once." I said. Y/n finally nodded and walked over to the couch to sit down while I did the dishes. The next day, Y/n had school, so I drove her and dropped her off. While I was at home, I went on Pinterest, hoping to find the perfect gift for Y/n. I finally saw a picture of a scrapbook. That's what I'll do! I'll make her a scrapbook.
As soon as I had that idea, I went to Michael's, a crafts store that's nearby. I picked up the supplies that I needed, went home, put them in the guest bedroom because I knew that Y/n would never randomly go in there, and went to pick Y/n up from school. She soon got in the car. I leaned over and gave her a kiss on the lips.
"Hi handsome." She said.
"Hi gorgeous. How was school?" I asked.
"Good but it was also long." She said. I placed my hand on her thigh as we drove away from the school and towards our home.
"Do you have any homework?" I asked. I saw her nodding out of the corner of my eye.
"Yeah. I have an essay to write. How was your day?" She asked.
"It was good. I missed you. Why don't you work at the kitchen table like you usually do, and I'll leave you alone, but we can cuddle afterwards?" I suggest.
"Okay. I missed you too." She said as she picked up my hand, interlaced our fingers, and brought my hand to her lips so she could kiss it. I smiled and then brought her hand to my lips so I could kiss it. "Wait do that again."
"Why?" I asked, giving her a look of confusion.
"Because I want to take a picture of you kissing my hand." She said. I playfully rolled my eyes but kissed her hand again, which I didn't mind. She took the picture and I put our hands down in her lap but kept them intertwined.
"Did the picture come out nice?" I asked.
"Yeah. But of course that's because you're in it." Y/n said, and because I know her so well, I could tell that she was smirking. I chuckled and shook my head.
"You're silly." I said.
"Well I'm just stating the facts!" She exclaimed. I laughed.
"I love you honey." I said. She kissed my hand again.
"I love you too." She said.
"Actually, would you mind sending me that picture please?" I asked. She nodded and went on her phone.
"Sure. There, it's sent." Y/n said. I smiled.
"Thank you my love." I said.
"You're welcome. Are you going to post it or something?" She said and asked. I thought for a moment before shaking my head.
"No, I just want to keep it." I said. I obviously wasn't going to tell her that I was going to put it in a scrapbook that I'm making for her.
"Okay." She said. We soon arrived home.
"Alright, you get to work baby girl, I'm going to be in my office if you need me." I said. Y/n smiled at me and nodded.
"Okay. But I want a kiss first before I start working on homework." Y/n said with a smile - the same smile that is like artwork. I leaned forward and put my lips on hers. She ran her fingers through my hair as our lips moved in sync with each other. We soon pulled away before the kiss could get too heated.
"Okay honey, I'll be upstairs." I said. Y/n nodded as she put her backpack on the table. I went upstairs and got to work on the scrapbook. I had already printed out a bunch of photos of Y/n and I, all of which I planned on putting in the scrapbook of course. The first picture was from the day we met. She had asked me for a picture and of course I said yes. How could I say no to such a gorgeous girl?
Suddenly, an idea popped into my head. I knew exactly what I was going to do for the last page. I texted Y/n's best friend, Grace.
Me: Grace, I need your help picking something out for Y/n, ASAP, but you can't tell her. It's for our anniversary.
Grace texted back within a few minutes.
Grace: Sure, do you have an idea of what you want to get her?
Me: Well, it requires a jewelry store and knowing Y/n's ring size.
Grace: OH MY GOSH ARE YOU GOING TO PROPOSE TO HER?
Me: Yes, but obviously you can't tell her. I need you to find out her ring size. If I ask, she'll get suspicious. I think it's eight but I'm not sure. Then, once we know, you and I can go ring shopping and pick out an engagement ring.
Grace: Okay, omg. I'm so excited. I'll text her right now and ask her. If she asks either of us why I want to know her ring size, let's just tell her that I want to get her a ring.
Me: Okay. Alright, I have to get back to work on this scrapbook that I'm making her.
Grace: OMG you're such a good boyfriend!
Me: Lol, thank you.
I got back to work on the scrapbook and made a lot of progress. Grace and I decided to go shopping for a ring that weekend - wait, I haven't gotten her parents blessing! I called up her mom and asked if I could meet her and Y/n's dad at the house that Y/n grew up in. She said yes.
"Baby I'll be right back." I yelled to Y/n as I was about to walk out the door.
"Wait, where are you going?" She asked. Crap. What do I say?
"Oh, I um, I have to fill the jeep up with gas." I lied. She gave me a suspicious look, and I knew that she didn't believe me, but she nodded.
"Okay. I'll see you when you get back." She said. I nodded and waved goodbye. I soon arrived at the house that Y/n grew up in.
"Hi Shawn, how are you?" Y/m/n, Y/n's mom asked. I nervously smiled at her and Y/n's dad. What if they say no?
"I'm good. How are you guys?" I said and asked.
"Good. You seem nervous. Is everything okay?" Y/d/n asked. I let out a shaky breath.
"Well, in about a month, Y/n and I will have been dating for three years. I love your daughter so beyond much. I literally can't even put into words how much I love her. I would absolutely love to become her husband some day, and so, I was wondering if I could have Y/n's hand in marriage?" I asked. Y/n's parents looked at each other, smiled, and nodded at me.
"Of course Shawn. We adore you and we would love for you to be a part of our family." Y/m/n said. I smiled and hugged them.
"Thank you so much. I don't know what I would have done if you guys had said no. Well, I better get back home, I told Y/n that I was going to fill up the car with gas." I said with a chuckle. Her parents laughed. I soon went back home. Y/n smiled when she saw me.
"Hi honey." She said.
"Hi baby. How's the essay coming along?" I asked. She sighed and frowned.
"I'm just trying to write a concluding paragraph and then I'll be done." She said. I nodded and went over to her so I could kiss her cheek. She looked up at me and smiled.
"I'll bet you anything that you get an A on this paper." I said. Y/n giggled, causing my heart to flutter.
"Yeah right. You haven't even looked at the paper." Y/n pointed out.
"Okay, true. Why don't you finish it up and then I'll read it?" I asked. Y/n gave me a puzzled look.
"Why are you always so interested in reading my papers baby?" She asked. I shrugged.
"Well, I'm very interested in you - obviously - and I'm always interested in what you're doing. Remember what I said to you when we first sat down and started talking?" I asked. She giggled.
"Shawn, we sat down and talked for two hours, a lot was said." She said. I smiled.
"I told you that you're a very interesting girl." I said. She blushed.
"Do you still think that?" She asked. I nodded my head.
"Absolutely baby girl. Now, you finish up your paper and then text me and I'll come down and read it, okay?" I asked. Y/n nodded, and I went back upstairs. I worked on the scrapbook a little bit more before I got a text from her telling me that she was done with the essay and that it was printed out. I told her that I would be done in a minute and she said okay. I hid all of the scrapbook stuff and then went downstairs. She was sitting on the couch, waiting for me.
"Here you go." She said as she handed me the paper. I read it and smiled when I was done.
"Very good honey. I like it a lot." I said. Her eyes lit up with my praise.
"Really?" She asked. I chuckled and nodded.
"Really." I said. She smiled at me. I then set the essay down on the coffee table that was in front of us, moved closer to her, and buried my face in her neck. She immediately ran her fingers through my hair. I hummed in contentment. Suddenly, an idea popped into my head. "Hey baby?"
"Mhmm?" She responded.
"How about we do date night on our anniversary? We'll get dressed up a little and then go out to a nice restaurant and have a nice time. How does that sound?" I asked as I picked my head up and looked at her. Y/n smiled her gorgeous smile at me.
"That sound perfect my love. Where would we go?" She asked. I thought for a moment before thinking of a place.
"I think that I know of a place where we could go, but I think that I'll let it be a surprise." I said with a mischievous grin. Y/n groaned, causing me to laugh.
"But I don't like surprises." Y/n said as she stuck out her bottom lip in a pout.
"Oh well. You know, you're cute when you pout." I said. Y/n blushed.
"Thank you." She said.
"You're welcome. Come here, I want cuddles." I said as I pulled her onto my lap. She squealed since she hadn't been expecting me to do that. We had a nice rest of our day. That weekend I went ring shopping with Grace and I had to, unfortunately, lie to Y/n again, and I could tell that she knew that I wasn't telling the truth.
"Are you ready?" Grace asked when I picked her up. I nodded.
"Yeah, definitely." I said.
"I have to say, I remember when you and Y/n first started talking. Her and I would hang out and she would just go on and on about you, and keep in mind that this was before you guys even started to date! She really loves you Shawn, you know that right?" Grace asked. I smiled and nodded.
"Yeah. I really love her too, and I hope that she knows that." I said. Grace nodded. It was silent for a minute before Grace's phone went off.
"Oh, Y/n is calling me." She said.
"Okay, I'll be quiet." I said. Grace nodded.
"Hey, what's up? Wait, slow down, what's wrong?" Grace asked Y/n, causing me to be concerned. I pulled over to the side of the road and put on my hazards. "No, Shawn loves you, he would never do that to you. Why do you think that? Uh huh... listen, I can't tell you what it is, but I know what's going on. I can assure you Y/n, he has good reason to lie to you, he's not cheating on you or anything. Okay. You're welcome. Bye." Grace said before hanging up. My eyes were wide.
"Did she... did she think that I was cheating on her?" I asked nervously. Grace hesitantly nodded and my heart broke.
"She said that she doesn't think that you would cheat on her but she couldn't think of another reason for why you're lying to her. Obviously I didn't tell her what's going on, but I think she feels better after hearing what I said." Grace said. I nodded.
"I feel so bad. Oh my gosh." I said as I rested my head against the steering wheel.
"Shawn, it's okay. She's going to say yes when you ask her to marry you, and she's going to love the scrapbook." Grace said. I nodded as I picked my head up and turned off my hazards as I pulled out back onto the road.
"Okay. I sure hope so." I said.
"She will! She loves you Shawn." Grace said. I nodded. We soon arrived at the jewelry store. Grace and I browsed around before I saw a beautiful ring. It was a plain gold band with a beautiful diamond that wasn't too big, but it wasn't too small.
"Grace, come look at this." I called over to her. She came over to me and I pointed out the ring. She gasped.
"It's beautiful. Do you think that it's the right one?" Grace asked. I thought for a moment before smiling and nodding.
"Yeah. I think it is." I said. Someone soon came over and I paid for the ring. I dropped Grace off at her house and then I went home. Y/n was sitting on the couch, watching Supernatural when I walked in the door. She gave me a weak smile as I sat down next to her.
"Hi." She said. I pulled her into my lap and started to rub her back as I nuzzled my face into her neck. I placed a gentle kiss there.
"Hi honey. I missed you." I said into her neck. She nodded.
"I missed you too." She said. I could tell that something was off. Maybe it was what was said during the phone conversation with Grace earlier?
"Are you okay honey?" I asked as I picked my head up so I could look at her. She nodded and faked a smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She said.
"No you're not." I said. She sighed.
"Why have you been lying to me lately and why have you been spending so much time alone in your office?" Y/n asked. Now it was my turn to sigh.
"I'm sorry my love, but I can't tell you." I said. Tears formed in her eyes as she wriggled herself off of my lap.
"Shawn, at the beginning of this relationship, we promised each other that we wouldn't keep secrets from each other." She said. I nodded.
"I know Y/n, and I'm sorry, I really am. But you'll find out on our anniversary, okay?" I asked. That seemed to calm her down a little bit and she nodded.
"Okay." She said.
"You know I love you, right?" I asked. She smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, and I love you too." She said. I smiled at her. We cuddled and soon went to bed.
Soon, I was done with the scrapbook and it was our three year anniversary. I had already gone ahead and made reservations at a restaurant on a lake. I dressed up in a white button down shirt and black dress pants. I made sure that the ring was in my pocket, and I sat on the bed as I waited for my amazing girlfriend of now three years to step out of the bathroom, where she was getting ready. When she did, my jaw dropped. She was wearing a short, but not too short, red dress with red heels. Her hair was done up in a bun and she wore only a little bit of makeup. She smiled nervously at me.
"Do I look okay?" She asked. I nodded.
"You look so gorgeous honey." I said with a smile. Y/n blushed.
"Thank you. You look quite handsome my love." She said, causing me to blush. I pecked her lips with a kiss before grabbing her hand gently. As our hands touched, I felt electricity shoot through me, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time.
"Come on, let's get going honey. We don't want to be late for our reservations." I said. She nodded and we headed out to the car. We soon arrived at the restaurant, and when we parked, Y/n's jaw dropped.
"Oh Shawn, this is too much." Y/n said. I instantly felt nervous.
"Nothing is too much for you honey." I reassured her.
"Babe, this is probably going to be expensive." She said. I shrugged.
"I have the money for it. Don't worry about it babe. Do you not like it?" I asked. She looked at me.
"I love it, I just feel bad." She said. I leaned over and kissed her forehead before resting my forehead on hers.
"Please don't honey. Please." I pleaded. She pulled her head away and nodded.
"Okay." She said. I smiled.
"Thank you." I said. She smiled back. We stepped out of the car and I opened up the backseat so I could get the scrapbook, which was in a box, out and bring it into the restaurant.
"What's that?" Y/n asked when she saw the box. I held the box in one hand and held her hand in my other hand.
"It's my gift to you. What's that?" I asked, nodding my head at the little bag that was in her hand. She smiled at me.
"My gift to you." She said. I smiled and we were soon seated. We put the gifts under the table as we ate. We had a very nice dinner and talked throughout it. Soon, we were done.
"Are you ready for your gift?" I asked.
"Wait! Can I give you the one that I have for you first please? Yours looks bigger than mine." She asked and said with a giggle. I nodded. She picked up the little bag and handed it to me. Inside of the bag was a box, and when I opened up that box, I saw a beautiful watch. My eyes widened.
"Oh my gosh honey." I said.
"Do you like it?" She asked nervously. I smiled and nodded at her.
"I love it." I said.
"Look on the other side of it. Flip it over." She said. I did, and saw that she had had the date that we started dating engraved in the watch.
"Oh my gosh sweetie, thank you so much." I said.
"You're welcome. Can I put it on you?" She asked. I nodded and she put the watch on me.
"You know what? Why don't we pay for the meal, and then we'll sit outside and open your gift? I don't think that we're going to have enough room to open it on the table." I asked and said while looking at the table. She nodded.
"Okay." She said. I paid for our meal and we sat outside on one of the benches.
"Here you go my love." I said as I handed her the box. She smiled and opened it up and took out the scrapbook. Her smile widened.
"You made me a scrapbook?" She asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. Do you like it?" I asked. She nodded her head violently.
"Yes, I do! Oh look, it's our first picture together!" She said. I smiled as she flipped through the pages, making comments on some, saying how much she loved the pictures that I chose. There was a whole page just dedicated to photos of the two of us where my head was buried in my loving girlfriend's neck. Soon she got to the last page. It was mostly blank, ready for a picture to be put on, except for the fact that four words were written on it: "Will you marry me?" Y/n's eyes filled up with tears as she saw it and as I got down on one knee. I pulled the box with the ring out and held it in my hands.
"Y/f/n, I have loved you since the second that I laid eyes on you in that Dunkin Donuts three years ago, and I know that I'm never going to stop loving you. You're not just my girlfriend, you're my teammate, my biggest fan, my lover, my soulmate, my best friend, my everything. Y/n, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to have kids with you and grow old with you. I honestly have no clue what I would do without you, but I know that neither of us are ever going to have to worry about that. I love you, my beautiful girl. Will you marry me?" I asked as I opened up the box to reveal the ring. Tears were running down her face and she smiled as she nodded her head violently.
"Yes! Yes! A million times yes Shawn!" She said. I smiled and put the ring on her finger. We then both stood up and kissed. I got all of those magical feelings again when I kissed her, the sparks, the heart racing, the butterflies, everything. I pulled away from the kiss and picked her up and spun her around. She squealed, causing my heart to flutter as I smiled. I soon set her back down. We kept smiling at each other.
"I love you so much honey." I said.
"I love you so much too. Oh my gosh, we're engaged!" She said. I chuckled and nodded as I wiped away her happy tears.
"We're engaged my love. Let's take a picture and then we'll put it in that part of the scrapbook." I said.
"Okay." She said. We took a selfie of her holding up her hand to show off the ring as I stood behind her.
"I'm so sorry that I had to lie to you, but I couldn't have you finding out that I was going to ask for your parents blessing and taking Grace shopping to get the ring. Plus, all that time I spent in my office was to work on the scrapbook. I'm sorry that I lied to you my love, but do you understand why?" I asked. She nodded and reached up to kiss my cheek.
"It's okay. I understand. Come on, let's go home baby." She said. I smiled. We grabbed the scrapbook and headed home. I'm so glad that she liked the scrapbook and I'm so glad that she said yes to my marriage proposal.
