148. Another Nightmare

My husband of three months, Shawn Mendes, walked into our shared home. I got up and gave him a hug. He weakly hugged back. Something was wrong.

"Hey Mr. Mendes. How was your day?" I asked.

"Can we sit down Y/n?" Shawn asked. He seemed nervous, causing me to be nervous too. I nodded.

"Sure. Is everything okay?" I asked as we sat down. He sighed and shook his head.

"I have to tell you something and you're not going to like it." He said.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I've, um, I've been talking to another woman." Shawn said. My eyes widened and my heart broke.

"What? Who?" I asked.

"Her name is Sophie. I know that we just got married three months ago, but I don't love you anymore. I love Sophie. I'm sorry Y/n, but we're over." Shawn said. I started to sob.

"But you said that we would be together forever." I said. Shawn nodded.

"I know. But the heart wants what the heart wants." Shawn said, and with that, he got up and left, leaving me behind with a shattered heart. I broke down sobbing and it seemed like I couldn't stop.

I sat up in bed, tears streaming down my face and my breathing hard from that terrible nightmare. I had just married the singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes, three months ago, and my biggest fear has always been that he's going to stop loving me and leave me. I looked over at the right side of the bed, but Shawn's side of the bed was empty. Oh no. He actually left me, didn't he? I checked the time, it was two in the morning.

I got up out of bed and walked down the hall. The door to Shawn's office was opened just a crack and the light was on. I knocked on the door.

"Come in." Shawn said. I opened up the door, and when Shawn saw what type of state I was in, he looked panicked. "What's wrong darling?"

"You're not leaving me, are you?" I asked him. He stood up and pulled me in for a hug and rubbed my back with one hand while the other hand was on the back of my head.

"No, of course not. Why do you ask that Y/n?" Shawn asked.

"Can you just hold me for right now please?" I asked as my head rested on Shawn's chest.

"Of course. I'll hold you for as long as you need me to." Shawn said. I nodded. Even though the nightmare was over and I knew that Shawn wasn't leaving me, I still let the tears out. Shawn swayed me from side to side as he rubbed my back. Finally, after a few minutes, I calmed down and stopped crying.

"Can we sit down?" I asked. Shawn nodded. He sat in the chair that was at his desk but wheeled it over so it was in front of the extra chair in his office, which is where I sat down.

"Are you ready to tell me what happened?" Shawn asked as he reached out for my hands. I put my hands in his and instantly felt sparks shoot through my body, yet I felt safe and warm at the same time, which was exactly what I needed at that moment.

"I had a really bad nightmare." I said, not looking Shawn in the eyes. Shawn squeezed my hands gently, encouraging me to look him in the eyes. I finally did.

"Oh honey, I'm sorry. Do you want to talk about it?" Shawn asked. I started crying again. Shawn rubbed the top of my hands with his thumbs, trying to comfort me.

"You came home and told me that you didn't love me anymore. You said that you had met a woman named Sophie and that you loved her and that you and I were over." I said while sobbing. Shawn pulled me to stand up as he stood up and he pulled me in for a hug.

"Oh honey, I'm so sorry that you had that dream. You're the only one for me darling. I only have eyes for you. I love you so damn much honey that I literally can't even put it into words. I'm so madly, deeply, hopelessly, crazily, in love with you. I'll always love you. Now and forever. I could never leave you for anyone - I could never leave you, period. I love you honey. It was just a nightmare, that's all." Shawn said. With each word that he said, my crying slowed down until it stopped and I calmed down. I nodded.

"Okay. Thank you. I just love you so much and I don't want you to be taken away from me." I said. Shawn pulled away from the hug a little bit and held my face in his hands.

"No one could ever take me away from you baby girl. No one. Okay?" Shawn asked. I nodded.

"I love you." I said, a smile making its way onto my face. Shawn smiled back at me.

"I love you too. You're so precious to me honey." Shawn said.

"You're so precious to me too. What are you doing up?" I said and asked while looking at his desk where there were papers all over. Shawn sat down in his spinny chair and then pulled me into his lap.

"I couldn't sleep and then some lyrics popped into my head, so I came in here and now I'm just putting them down on paper." Shawn said. I nodded and then kissed his cheek. He smiled at me.

"Can I stay up with you please?" I asked. Shawn thought for a moment.

"Baby you need your sleep." Shawn said.

"But I just want to be with you right now. Right now I just need your arms around me. Please?" I pleaded with Shawn. He thought for a moment before nodding.

"Okay." He finally said.

"Yay! Thank you." I said. Shawn chuckled.

"You're welcome my love. Hey, so I've been thinking, and, well, what do you think about me getting another tattoo?" Shawn asked nervously. He's usually not nervous about telling me about tattoo ideas. I nodded.

"That would be cool. Where would you get it and what would you get?" I asked. Shawn took a deep breath.

"Don't get mad, okay?" Shawn asked. I nodded.

"Okay." I said.

"I want to get your initials underneath my wedding band." Shawn said. My eyes widened and my jaw dropped.

"But Shawn, that's so... permanent." I pointed out.

"I know honey. And I know that you have the fear that someday we're not going to be together anymore, but darling, when I hear the word forever, I think of you. You're my forever, and that's how long we're going to be together for. I promise." Shawn said. I chewed at my bottom lip while thinking for a moment.

"Okay." I said. Shawn's eyes lit up.

"Really? You think that I should get your initials inked onto me?" Shawn asked me. I giggled and nodded.

"Yes, and maybe I could come along and get a tattoo too?" I asked. Shawn nodded.

"Sure baby. Do you know what you would want?" Shawn asked. I nodded.

"I want your initials underneath where my wedding ring goes." I said with a smile. Shawn's eyes widened again.

"You want my initials on you forever?" Shawn asked. I nodded.

"Well that's how long we're going to be together for, right?" I asked. Shawn smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. So we're going to get each other's initials on our ring fingers?" Shawn asked. I nodded.

"Yup." I said. Shawn pulled me closer to him.

"Oh that makes me so happy. Can we do it as soon as possible?" Shawn asked. I nodded.

The next week we were on our way to see Shawn's good friend and his tattoo artist, Livia Tsang. When we walked in the door, Livia immediately smiled at us.

"Hi guys!" She said.

"Hi Livia. How are you?" Shawn asked as he gave her a hug.

"I'm good, how are you guys?" She asked. We smiled at each other and then at her.

"We're good." I said.

"Good. Shawn said that you guys are getting each other's initials underneath where your wedding rings are?" Livia asked us to confirm. We nodded.

"Yeah." I said. Livia clapped her hands together.

"Cool! Who's going first?" Livia asked.

"Y/n is." Shawn said. I looked over at him and he looked over at me. "Well I know that you're probably nervous and just want to get it over with so I figured you could go first."

"Okay. Thank you." I said. Shawn placed a loving kiss on my temple.

"Of course honey." Shawn said. I sat down and Shawn held my free hand while Livia got to work on me. Soon, I had SPRM tattooed on me, causing me to smile.

"Do you like how it came out?" Livia asked. I nodded.

"I love it." I said.

"Good, I'm glad. Shawn? You're up." Livia said. Shawn and I switched seats and I held his hand as he got my initials tattooed on him. When Livia was done, Shawn smiled at his newest ink.

"I love it. Out of all of my tattoos, this one is definitely my favorite." Shawn said. I took a look at my own initials that were now forever on his skin, and smiled. Shawn looked at me. "Do you like it?"

"I love it." I said. Shawn's smile widened. We soon paid and left. When we got home, Shawn took a picture of our newest tattoos side by side and posted it on Instagram. I read the caption.

"Our love is already permanent, but we just wanted to go ahead and get each other's initials inked on our ring fingers forever. Love you Mrs. Mendes. I always have, and I always will." Shawn wrote. I commented two hearts on it and posted the same picture on my Instagram.

"I'm loving my new ink! Thank you Livia!" I wrote but added in two heart eye emojis. Shawn liked the photo and commented kissy faces on it. I smiled at him.

"I love you Mrs. Mendes." Shawn said to me as I cuddled up to him in bed that night.

"I love you too Mr. Mendes." I said.

"Good night honey." He said.

"Good night baby boy." I said, and with that, we fell asleep.
