139. Livestream and Fight
A/n: Explicit language in this one. Also, in this one I put that you're a school counselor. Please enjoy. Okay, let's begin!
Two months ago I married my soulmate and best friend, the singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes. Him and I are currently sitting on the couch watching the tv, my head on his chest and his arms around me. His arms provide me with great comfort. They're my home, they're where I belong.
"You still awake Mrs. Mendes?" Shawn asked. I smiled at my new name and looked up at him.
"Yeah." I said. Shawn smiled at me before kissing my forehead.
"You're so beautiful my love. So gorgeous and divine." Shawn said, making me blush. Once Shawn noticed me blushing, he chuckled.
"You're the beautiful, gorgeous, and divine one Shawn. I love you so much." I said, a smile never leaving my face. Shawn was still smiling too.
"I love you too honey. So, so, much." He said. Suddenly, an idea popped into my head.
"You know what you haven't done in a while?" I asked.
"What?" Shawn asked.
"You haven't done a livestream in a long time." I said. Shawn nodded.
"Should I do one?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. It would be your first livestream as a married man." I said with a giggle. Shawn laughed and muted the tv.
"The first of many." He said. Shawn then pulled out his phone, and before he could start the livestream, I moved so my feet were in his lap, but I wouldn't be in the picture. Shawn had a look of confusion etched across his face. "What are you doing?"
"Trying not to be in the picture." I said. Shawn started the livestream but continued to talk to me.
"Come on babe, come here." Shawn said. I shook my head. He then looked at his phone and smiled. "Hi guys. This is my first livestream as a married man. See this ring? My wife put it on me. Come here babe." Shawn said, and I finally leaned forward.
"Yeah I put that ring there." I said. Shawn moved so I was in the view more.
"She did, and I put this ring on her." Shawn said as he gently grabbed my hand and showed my ring to everyone watching the livestream. I smiled at him, and he put his lips on mine. I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, and I felt sparks shoot through me like fireworks. I soon pulled away.
"Okay, let's not make out in front of tons of your fans." I said with a blush. Shawn chuckled.
"Oh, but I like your kisses." Shawn whined. I laughed.
"I like your kisses too, but I don't want everyone to see us making out." I said. Shawn chuckled and turned back to his phone. I rested my head on his shoulder and wrapped my hands around his bicep. Shawn kissed the top of my head, causing me to smile.
"Ask me questions guys." Shawn requested.
"How was the honeymoon?" Someone wrote. Shawn and I smiled at each other.
"The honeymoon was absolutely fantastic. We had our own hammock and we would lay there or walk along the beach. It was amazing." Shawn said. I nodded.
"Are we going to get new music soon?" Someone else asked.
"I have been writing some songs, but I haven't been in the recording studio. I would love to get back there though. I'm dying to get out on the road for tour." Shawn said. Wait a second, him and I had just gotten married two months ago, and he wants to leave? I unwrapped my arms from Shawn.
"I'm really tired, I think that I'm going to go upstairs and go to bed." I said as I stood up.
"But you don't seem tired. Are you okay?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"Yeah I'm fine. Good night honey, I love you." I said.
"Well let me come up to bed with you so we can fall asleep together." Shawn said. I was standing near the stairs and he was on the couch.
"No, you haven't done a livestream in a while, you keep going honey." I said with a fake smile.
"Are you sure that you're okay?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. Just tired." I said, and headed upstairs.
"Alright, good night guys, I love you guys." I heard Shawn say before he ended the livestream and followed me up the stairs.
"Baby girl, I know that something's wrong, so please talk to me." Shawn said as we reached our bedroom. I whipped around and faced him.
"I thought that since we just got married we would want to spend some time together." I said. Shawn looked confused.
"Yeah. I do want to spend time with you." He said.
"But you're dying to get on the road for tour." I said. Shawn sighed and hung his head.
"I am, but it's not like I want to get away from you." Shawn said. I nodded.
"But by you going on tour, that means that I'll be away from the man that I just married." I pointed out.
"I know, and we always make the distance work." Shawn said.
"That's not the point of this Shawn!" I yelled, getting angrier and angrier.
"Then what is?" Shawn yelled back.
"We just got married. I thought that we would both want to be with each other for a while and savor it. We said that once we've been married for a year we'll try to start a family." I said.
"Yes, I do want to savor it but I can't stay home forever." Shawn said.
"That's not what I'm asking!" I yelled again.
"Then what the fuck are you asking?" He yelled while throwing his arms in the air.
"Just... stay at least until our one year anniversary. But then we said we wanted to try and start a family then, so I don't know Shawn. I just want my husband." I pleaded. Shawn sighed and shook his head, his hands on his hips.
"You act like the world revolves around you." Shawn said.
"What? What are you talking about?" I asked.
"It's always your way or the highway. I have to go on tour to make a living. This is my job, you know that, right?" Shawn asked.
"I do not act like that and yes I know that this is your job." I said.
"You know, at least what I do for a living is actually important." Shawn said. Oh my gosh. My eyes widened.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing, I didn't mean it, I swear." Shawn said as his eyes widened. I went into our closet and grabbed a pillow and a blanket.
"Here, you can sleep on the couch tonight." I said as I handed the pillow and blanket over to Shawn.
"Wait baby, I didn't mean it." Shawn said.
"I am a school counselor. That means that I help students if they have problems going on at home, or if they're being bullied - for fuck's sake Shawn, I help them if they're suicidal!" I screamed.
"I know, and I shouldn't have said what I said." Shawn said.
"No, you shouldn't have. But you still said it. All I want is to savor some alone time with my husband, but instead, he's dying to get out on the road, which means that he'll be away from home and from me. Just take the pillow and blanket and sleep on the couch Shawn." I said.
"Honey I am so sorry -" Shawn said before I cut him off.
"Leave me alone Shawn." I said. He sighed but turned and went downstairs. I locked our bedroom door, got underneath the covers, and cried. After about ten minutes of that, I got a text from Shawn.
Shawn: I'm about to do a livestream. Please watch.
Me: K.
I opened up Instagram and went to Shawn's profile. When a livestream was started, I began to watch it. Shawn looked sad and as if he had been crying. He cleared his throat before he started to speak.
"Hi guys. So, um, some of you may have seen my last livestream, and towards the end, I said that I was dying to get back on the road for tour. I've been touring off and on since I was a teenager, and even though I do love it, I also love my friends, family, and especially my wife, more. I just got married two months ago and I want to stay home and savor that for as long as I can, and then, at some point in the future, Y/n and I want to have kids, so I want to be home for that too. I just talked to my manager, and I will be going on a music hiatus until further notice, meaning that I won't be going on tour for a while." Shawn said. My eyes widened.
"Oh my gosh." I whispered to myself. Shawn then continued.
"Also, to my amazing wife, who I hope is watching: I am so beyond sorry. I know that the two of us probably need to cool off but I didn't mean what I said. To my fans, my wife is a school counselor. That means that she helps kids who have stuff going on at home, or maybe they're being bullied, maybe they just need to talk to someone, or maybe they're even suicidal, and my amazing wife helps them. Y/n, I am so freaking sorry that I said that you're job isn't important. It's beyond important, and the world needs more school counselors, especially ones like you. You're amazing at your job. You care about your students and you worry about them at times. Your job is so important honey and I'm so, so, so, sorry that I said that it wasn't. I love you so much honey. I don't want to sleep on the couch. I want to sleep in the bed with you, and cuddle with you. Please forgive me honey. Alright, good night everyone, I love you guys." Shawn said, and ended the livestream.
I slowly got out of bed and walked down the stairs. When I reached the bottom step, I peered into the living room only to see Shawn sitting on the couch with his head in his hands, sobbing. I walked over to him and sat down next to him. He looked up at me when he felt my hand on his back. We both probably looked like wrecks. His hair looked as if he had been tugging on it and I knew that the both of us had been crying.
"Hi." I whispered.
"Hi." He whispered back.
"Come here." I said, opening my arms up. Shawn immediately wrapped his arms around me and we both started to cry on each other's shoulders.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it -" Shawn said before I cut him off by rubbing the back of his head.
"Shhh, it's okay handsome. I overreacted." I said. Shawn pulled away and shook his head.
"No, you didn't. I said something fucked up and I shouldn't have said it and you had every single right to get upset with me." Shawn said. I nodded.
"Are you really going to put your career on hiatus?" I asked. Shawn nodded.
"Yeah. I talked to Andrew and I want to stay home with you and then start a family with you, and I want and need to be home for all of that." Shawn said.
"Are you sure?" I asked. Shawn smiled softly and nodded.
"I'm positive." He said. I smiled back and pulled him in for another hug.
"Are you tired?" I asked. Shawn nodded his head against my shoulder.
"Yeah." He said. I pulled away but held his gorgeously handsome face in my hands.
"Let's go to bed." I said. Shawn's eyes widened as his face lit up and he smiled.
"Really?" He asked. I giggled and nodded.
"Really." I said as I stood up. Shawn stood up too, picked his phone up, and carried me up the stairs, making me squeal and laugh the whole way. Shawn laid me down on the bed and then he got in on his side of the bed. I cuddled up to him and put my head on his chest.
"Well, at least we got our first fight as a married couple over with." Shawn said, causing me to laugh.
"Yup. Good night Mr. Mendes. I love you." I said.
"Good night Mrs. Mendes. I love you too." Shawn said, and with that, we fell asleep.
